  1. To not leave my water bra on the bed ...
  2. My guys went through this .. I just stand and stare straight ahead and wait for them to sit , at first it took prob 15-20 mins , they know what sit means and if it took longer I would have walked away and then tried again a bit later .. Now it's as soon as I stand at the door they sit but we don't acknowledge them till we have been inside for a few minutes then I will sit on the deck and say hi .. If they go silly then I don't give them attention until they calm down and then I wait the few minutes before I give them attention. My guys sit before going outside and also after a walk to get their walking gear off , they know darn well what sit means :-) and now I don't need to say it .. But I will add mine are just excited to see us , they don't have separation anxiety so I don't know if that needs to be handles differently .. :-)
  3. LMAO I just spat my coffee lol lol Just a question for the older and wiser heads on the forum: is the above the new definition of purebred? If so, I need to adjust my ideas.
  4. Jimmay can you pm me the name of this place I too live in Brisbane and have friends that use groomers.. I'm so sorry for the owners loss :-( Horrendous! What state was this please? Brisbane, Queensland. :edit: Sorry, he was two. Thanks for that huga. Way too young to go.
  5. Saachi is very food driven but she also loves a ball .. I think though in this situation food may have been the only option .. I think talking to her keeps me calm as well :-) Thanks for the info , food for thought :-)
  6. Staffyluv in my above post I was just talking to her , I think I was saying look at me . I was just really trying to keep her attention .. Should I have just said one word ? I normally say yes when I reward treat should I just have said yes each time I treated her for focusing on me ?
  7. Well I am over the moon and so proud of my girl :-) We set out our back gate yesterday afternoon . We back onto a large easement which has a walking track that is along the boundary of it , far across from us. People and dogs walk along and more than not dogs are off lead ( sigh) Well I noticed a woman with her 2 dogs a distance away. Hubby got our boy to sit and was in control of him ( he is a good boy ) and I took Saachi to our chickens outside our fence then got her to sit focusing on me. Hubby said crap as one dog started racing over toward us , owner yelling come here , in a soft voice ! I had meat training cubes and I just kept her focus .. She sat looking into my eyes but electric lol , you could see she wanted to go off at this dog heading for us but she kept her focus on me.. I lost her for a second cause I was trying to get the meat lol.. The dog got about 2 mtrs away before it returned to the owner but wowee , she would normally have gone berserk a dog running towards ..I am so happy , we have a long way to go but that was just great for us !! I could cry I'm so happy :-)
  8. Yeah one of mine would kill a chicken but not a child .. I would tell them as a lot of people in suburbia have chickens or guinea pigs ..
  9. Yeah I am in control cause I say when they can sniff etc .. I'll ask her as I'm going to cancel and go to a colleague of hers closer ,I should have on the day but a client came and we both got distracted ..

  15. Great info , I'm not a staffy person but I never knew this about the blues ..
  16. Thanks pirate , I do most of that and the trainer has also been helpful . I do need to work on me also as I know I panic a bit when I see another dog .. I need to get rid of that !!
  17. We have come from just seeing them in the distance and going Beserk to now I would say they can come about 1 mtr , some dogs maybe 2mtrs before she reacts by lunging and barking. She normally will stiffen and stare at them and pant when she sees another dog.. We had a very bad encounter, my fault I took them both out together for some stupid reason .. I decided then I would get help and with our training session 2 weeks ago we managed to walk past a dog :-) I was able to keep her focus and she didn't react which was fabulous!!! I am to avoid dogs though until our next session so I have made sure we have had no contact ..
  18. Lol just a sniff of a dog and she reacts in some way lol but yes I can try that .. They are so good ( apart from the female being reactive ) on our walks , I've put a lot into our training Maybe it was how I explained what I was doing .. ..
