  1. Lime works. If it burns then you are using too much. Farmers use it all the time to control fleas on the cattle and sheep. If you are worried about burning, then get Diatomaceous Earth. A little more expensive but effective. http://www.dirtworks.net/Diatomaceous-Earth.html#anchorD20
  2. If your dog wont take it whole, get a pin and pierce the gel tablet and pour it over the food. They are none the wiser. Just like giving sardines.
  3. No worries. I just hope they work. Good luck.
  4. Doesnt mean to use them. It just explains what maybe the cause of the incontience.
  5. Oh sorry, I remember that post. Good luck then. Yes, the poo will still have salt in it. What the other dogs body will not need, will be expelled out for your dog. Hence the running poos your dog is now experiencing. I lost a dog through Pancreatitis, perhaps leave some pamphlets lying around. Better still stick one to his computer and chair and table and wall..........etc, etc.
  6. Sounds like Ivy is craving salt, so therefore she eats the poo. Because it tastes good. Best to talk to owner of the other dog and mention that too much salt is not good for dogs. Espcially the ham and bacon can lead to Pancreatitis and can be fatal.

  8. Get some Charcoal biscuits from the pet store. You know those ones in a bone shape and come in different flavours, get the black ones.
  9. You do realise that Methylated Spirits is a flammable liquid? Right? I would not be using that at all. http://adunk.ozehosting.com/metho.html
  10. Its not the salmon that kills the dog but the fluke (Nanophyetus salmincola)in the salmon. Last I heard about this was salmon from Canada/America was affected. Australian fisheries are very strict with their handling and screening processess. I've fed my guys salmon for years and they are still around.
  11. I have used Fish Oil tablets for the last couple of months and have found it very help for for Tiffany and Millie's itchies. This with their diet of raw and Quit-Itch and finally I have some sort of control. I use one tablet of 1000mg human grade Fish Oil from Chemist Warehouse. Cheaper there than a chemist but do look around.
  12. You do realise that if you have dog/s next door or close by that the reinfestation is only going to happen again. Lime is good for yards and acreage. Even under the house or dog kennels.
  13. I have always said that kibble is the worst you can give and wont feed my dogs that. I would go with Puggles suggestion.
  14. I have bought from Lenards, but now I buy from a butcher shop. I found Lenards mince was getting a lot more fatty than they use to be. Hard to find a good Lenards supplier now. My butcher shop is in Bendigo and I see him making the mince. He has a TV screen where its all done. He told me he makes it for all the greyhound owners around Bendigo and there is never enough supply. You have to be lucky to get a few bags. I buy it for the month.
  15. Do you feed her late at night? I found with my dogs that if I feed them after 7.00pm, I am up all night with them to take them out. Now I feed around 4.30pm and 5.30pm and it has been fine. They sleep all night.
  16. It is a very sharp needle like bone in the drumstick part.
  17. Are you feeding dry food? What else are you feeding. Is it worse when you feed a particular food?
  18. Be careful of the needle in the drumstick. I like to take that out. You have a bigger dog and I am sure he can polish of a full maryland.
  19. As well as humans, the Ross River virus can infect animals including dogs, cats, possums, goats, horses, kangaroos and wallabies. Only humans and horses are known to display symptoms as a result of catching this virus. lachlan.local-e.nsw.gov.au/files/1258/File/rvFEVER.PDF http://www.labtestsonline.org.au/understan...ross_river.html
  20. Sounds like you have a fuss pot. Rule out anything medically with his teeth with a vet. Now get some chicken necks, put one in a freezer bag and hammer it. Give it to him and see what happens. If he eats that no worries, then next time, dont bash them so bad. You will soon having him eating a full chicken neck. Then you can try the other chicken parts. I have to do this with Tiffany, her teeth a worn down, but she stills gets a chicken neck down.
  21. All this organic talk is just that...........talk. If its good enough for you, its good enough for your dogs. Organic meat just means that the animal that that meat came from was fed organic grains and no chemical was used on that land. Thats all. But you pay the prices.
  22. My guys get an egg once a week. I like to play a trick with them. My back yard has a bit of a hill and I will get up there where the wash line is and roll and egg down for each one. They love them. One dog, Marshall, does get the runs with an egg. So he doesnt get to enjoy the fun, but gets a biscuit instead. Some dogs just cant handle them. But they eat the egg, shell and all. But it doesnt stop him diving for a dropped egg though.
  23. Let her be a puppy first. Show her how to be one. Lots of love and tender care goes a long way. Never raise your voice or anyone else either. Make it one happy household, which I am sure you are doing. Implement her training like sit, stay, wearing a collar and lead etc, all in with her happy puppy play. This can take time and she will know soon enough that this is the place to be.
  24. I feed my dogs on Raw Feeding with garlic every second or third day. No can food or dry food whatsoever. Sometimes I may forget a week or two. Have been doing this for about two years and not one single flea problem ever. I dont use any sort of chemicals on my dogs to repell fleas either on dog or environmental. I use a plain $2.00 dog wash on three of my dogs and Quit-Itch shampoo for my two itchy dogs which is now under control. Neighbours all around have fleas on their dogs and cats. Lucky, I guess. Garlic probably was the cure.
