  1. Oh now the fireworks are going crazy nearby My puppy is less than impressed. TV is now up a little louder than usual and drowns it out a tad and he's snuggled in his blanket beside me on the couch
  2. It's still daylight and I can hear someone in my complex, or very close by setting off fireworks already! (What a waste in fireworks?) Puppy went to the door wagging his tail. Haha. I think he may have thought it was a door knock as it wasn't too loud. Hopefully he stays this calm and happy for the rest of the night as they are only going to get louder / worse by the sounds of things!
  3. It happens a lot - strays don't attract a surrender fee... I was at my local pound one day when a couple brought in a "stray" with a huge mammary tumour - once they'd signed the paperwork for dropping off the "stray", they asked if they would be allowed to adopt it from the pound if it's "owners didn't come get it" - the pound staff said no problems if they wanted to adopt the dog once it had served it's impound time... then the people said "so that thing on her belly will be removed before she's allowed to be adopted, right?", and the pound staff said "no, that will cost you extra"... funnily enough no-one heard from them again. Interesting note about that dog - she was the shyest thing with strangers, but had snuggled quite happily in the arms of the person who brought her in. We strongly suspect that they were the actual owners and were looking for a cheap way to get the mammary tumour seen to. Upside was that Millie was taken by rescue, had her surgeries for the tumour and desexing (separately)... and is now living the life of a totally spoiled princess in Townsville... *grin* T. As many have said before - Sometimes the best things that could happen to these lovely animals is to be rehomed so they can find a loving family. Just like this
  4. Wow.. Reading the entire 11 pages of this thread in disbelief, and in tears... Some excuses are just pathetic. I also believe a dog is for life and I could never ever imagine parting with my puppy. It took a long while for me to get to a stable position to know I could safely and securely get a dog. I've had my little boy 2 weeks now and whilst it may not be long - The love I have for him already is something special and will only grow over time. To rehome him would be ripping my heart out. We've got a special bond and he'll be my boy until he goes off to the rainbow bridge. The puppy stage is a crazy and sleepless stage! Benny is almost 11 weeks and I cannot wait for him to grow into a young man but I love him as a puppy too... The biting, the chewing of my favorite cardigan, the running off with my thong and hiding it in his crate... I wouldn't change him for the world and I'll look fondly back on his naughty puppy years but be thankful on what a wonderful dog he's grown into
  5. He sounds gorgeous. What a lucky boy to get such a wonderful and caring home
  6. Oh no poor Lucy! Hopefully it was just something minor that just didn't agree with her Sending happy pom vibes to make her feel better x
  7. I've never had any problems taking my puppy out and about with me in Melbourne.. Granted I've had the puppy in a soft crate bag and he is very polite and quiet but taxi drivers are always very happy and usually want to pat him and know about him. I do ask prior that I'll be bringing my puppy and if that's ok though. He has also been on the train with me and he's just sat quietly in his bag. I've seen many people with dogs on the train / trams on leashes and they just sit at their owners feet. I know on trains as long as its not peak hour it's ok to bring your dog, trams and busses I'm not too sure though but I've seen it happen
  8. He's a ragdoll - Males are 7 - 10kgs :p He's a big loveable bear. He lives on my Mum and Stepdad's acreage in WA.. He's a surprisingly placid lad who leaves the birdies alone but loves bringing gifts of mice to the doorstep
  9. I know, that's only 4kg of animal.. My mums cat weighs 8kg haha
  10. I wasn't asked if I was renting or not but in my first email I did introduce myself and explained my home, my living arrangement and job but I didn't say whether it was my own home or renting.. I didn't know that this was a deciding factor until this thread to be honest! I'd say perhaps it was more appropriate to larger breeds that are less accepted in rentals (unfortunately )
  11. I now have a very sleepy fluffy friend I wrote a post + added my only pic of him awake to the Pomeranian thread LINK
  12. Yay can't wait to see pics :-) :-) Most definitely! :D 3:55pm cannot come soon enough!! I have taken to wrapping the last of my Christmas presents today, and putting together a bookcase. I'm hoping that makes things quicker!
  13. Looks like I'm in for a treat!! Lucky I have recently purchased a brand new vaccuum. I sense that many a treasure may be 'regifted' back outdoors
  14. This is not uncommon in the Philippines. I grew up in Metro Manila. I was born / bred in Australia and my dad worked overseas so I moved with him. One of the first shocking things I saw was the poverty. Second - the exploitation of absolutely anything that as the ability to be exploited. Third - the amount of stray feral dogs (and cats) that just roam the streets. You'll never not see a stray dog around and they're fairly vicious as they're hungry and diseased. It's very sad and of course they just keep breading as they don't belong to anyone and they certainly haven't been desexed. Poor people, and greedy people alike use these types of things to make money. It's really great to hear of organisations like 'PAWS'. They have plenty of operations to try to aid poverty, but it's really great that someone is focusing on the animal problem there (and the people who exploit). It really is a wonderful country with wonderful people after you get past the poverty and greed (Don't get me started with their police over there.. They would have most likely been involved in the above). The Koreans would have known it was a crime - They would have just had a few police on their side. It's usually the case sadly. Sometimes people go to the Philippines due to the leniency in laws if you have the money to pay.
  15. Exactly my thoughts when reading this thread. I don't really see many dogs around here. The ones I have seen are on leashes and seem relatively behaved. There is a house that is on my road that have a husky and a samoyed and they lunge at the fence when anyone walk past. There is a teeny gap at the bottom of the fencing and you can see them trying to stick their heads through. Pretty intimidating. I cross the road if I have to pass that house. I'm frightened they'll either jump through, or over the fence. As much as I hate violence towards animals - I would not hesitate to defend me of my dog. I'm not a very big person but I will give it my all to try and protect my dog from some feral unleashed beast. These stories are becoming far, far too common. It's a worry.
  16. It's so lovely to know that there are still genuinely great friends in this world. They're definitely few and far between. That's such a sweet and thoughtful gift
  17. Also found this on googling Breeder of: Brittish Bulldog Puppies For Sale, Dogue de Bordeaux Puppies For Sale, Japanese Spitz Puppies For Sale, Schnauzer Miniature Puppies For Sale, Shar Pei Puppies For Sale, West Highland White Terrier Puppies For Sale That is enough info to find another breeder. No one can successfully breed more than about 3 breeds at the same time. Any more than that shows they are simply churning out puppies not dedicated to their chosen breeds. I found another website with a couple more breeds additional to those listed above. Definitely something to be weary of.
  18. That does sounds really sus! My little pom comes home tomorrow (yay) I got him through a wonderful breeder in NSW. Best idea is to research, research, research. I searched through threads on here, and did a lot of googling. Found many great (and ethical) breeders in NSW so you're really in a good position to go out and kennel visit etc. It's always good to see the property and how the pups / mum are kept and in what conditions. I didn't have that opportunity hence my supercharged research. I think it's really good to be cautious and in no rush. It took me over a year of research to find the perfect breeder. Hope all goes well for you :)
  19. Omg picking up my boy tomorrow!!! I am so excited I can't even sit still!! This last day will go soooo slow!
  20. It's going to be hard keeping that secret!! :p LMAO I have got the bigger girls reading books about training etc, a friend of ours has a lab pup so i said its a good idea they know basic things :-) My youngest said mum why are you always looking at dog stuff lol lol .. We were going to show them the video on Christmas day but then having to waiting till 21st January would be a nightmare lol LOL definitely ... It'll be like a long car ride 'Mum are we there yet' .. 'How about now, are we there yet?' If you can keep a secret until January 21st I think the look on their faces when they see a brand new puppy will be unforgetable.. They'll be in shock and wont know what hit them haha! I know I can't wait to see their faces.... I am going to have them quietly come in the back yard and sit so the precious boy won't get inundated with love :-) You'll need to take lots of pics! And wear earplugs :p
