  1. I first saw some IOD products on the RSPCA website and they were quite expensive. I ended up finding some on eBay for a lesser amount and also on some other pet product websites too :)
  2. Benny is the same! I think Fletcher might just be a little cautious, which is by no means a bad thing. It's good that he can be sensible and assess the situation before jumping right into something new. He'll most likely come out of his shell after a few weeks, or perhaps he just is more interested in his human family than making other doggy friends. :)
  3. Looks so innocent and sleepy :) 3 weeks will fly by before you know it!
  4. Benny sleeps with me in my queen bed, he likes to share my pillow so often he's curled around my head  , a fuzzyard bed downstairs in the lounge room and his crate. :)
  5. I do! Even the people at work refer to the day I got Benny as the day I became a Mum :) And I'm a proud little Mum at that :D My family sent presents from 'Nanny and Poppy' and 'Auntie and Uncle' My Sister's JRT is 12 and has always been refered to as the same too haha
  6. Aww... Gorgeous pictures. It really makes you wonder how people could dump such beautiful creatures.
  7. Growing up I had a Poodle named 'Sprout', a Min Pin called 'Spud' and a ginger moggy named 'Slab' ... No idea lol. My parents now have Rag Doll cats called 'Smudge' and 'Slinky'.. My Pomeranian puppy is called Benny  .. He suits it! I think I'd be more comfortable calling out 'Benny' than some of the above names. My parents named me a strange name, and I'm noticing a growing trend in strange names and/or purposely misspelt names, so I think it's great that our pets are still being named normal everyday names! :)
  8. Our puppies were almost born on the same day :D Benny is 15 weeks today! Good luck today dwilds! I have my fingers crossed for you in hope nothing more goes wrong! :)
  9. I just love how all of these gorgeously filthy dogs have such achieved and proud looks on their faces
  10. Oh that's such a shame and that's terrible customer service on their behalf! I hope you complained very loudly!
  11. Yay :D Now TODAY is finally THE day :) Good luck!!!
  12. I'm so glad the spray bottle works for some people, it's such a fantastic method, and worked so well for my sister and her JRT! I had such high hopes that it'd work for me, and it kinda did but he just wanted me to keep spraying him. When I stopped spraying him he'd bite me again.. Hrmm.
  13. Oh gosh, yes biting.. I often have arms that look like a cat has shredded me with their claws. A combination super loud yelping and redirection to a chew toy is slowly working for me and his bites are becoming softer. I try not to pull my arm away too quickly because then he thinks my arm is playing with him and he gets excited. I usually yelp first, he gets startled and licks me then I slowly put a toy in his mouth. He used to hate this and still go for my arm for a few weeks but we are getting there. One things for sure is puppy teeth HURT!!
  14. I'd say my boy is about 90% trained. We have our accidents, but not often. He's almost 15 weeks old. I wouldn't relax the training until we've gone a month or so without ANY accidents :) The accidents are becoming less, and at night he can almost hold the whole way through. Occassionally we'll get up once in the night (That's usually when I wake up to go, and take him with me to his training mat regardless if he thinks he needs to go or not - He goes on command, which is only a recent development that it has become a reliable method. He's learning )
  15. That's so cute!! I do not envy Perthians one bit! I moved from Perth 1.5 years ago to Melbourne and it's a nice 23 degrees today and sunny with a light breeze. Stay cool people and doggies of Perth :)
  16. So far Benny likes most things I've given him.. Especially Brocolli and Carrot! I chop them up and freeze them so he uses it for teething on, rather than using my arm! I gave him a little bit of banana this morning and he was a little tentative..
  17. Yes, you're right. Minor lapse in memory  the aging process has already begun! Well, the countdown resumes! haha
  18. I carry Benny in, but he's only very little and my handbag probably weighs more! If I had a bigger dog, I'd walk him, would have no choice! That or get a mobile vet out if I was -that- concerned.
  19. that's hilarious! You've got some good names picked out and their nicknames are even cuter :)
  20. Benny gets: Benny bubble Big boy (1.4kg of puppy here  ) Little man And fluffy puppy
  21. Yes, I very much did have that problem when I got my pup and left it alone after spending too much time with puppy - of puppy relying on me too much - but since going to dog training classes and having so much support assistance & advice from the trainers at school of things that I did do incorrectly (and there were LOTS!!!) I have learnt the balance alot better, for what to do next time... Lucky for me, my pup was young enough to train correctly when I was assisted how to and I managed to reverse the problems that I created from the word go with my puppy, as a first time dog owner.. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!! I can see that you all have had experience with dogs - so you are right - who am I to make this sort of comment? I certainly did not have any until I went to training school having not owned a dog before.. I understand that, and would definately do things different if I were to get another pup -knowing what I did incorrectly the first time.. I guess what I am trying to say is, what I learnt is there has to be a balance there in those important first days / weeks - of being there to show puppy important household training, and also teach them how to calm in the pen. by no means at all I am an expert - I just would not leave a tiny pup to its own devices on day one... But - you say that it is done all the time - I think I am just a tad neurotic!! LOL Of course we all feel bad leaving them alone! We wouldn't be caring puppy owners if we didn't feel bad! It's easier to train the puppy the same way the whole time, rather than switch midway and have the prolonged heartache and stress for both owner and puppy. Especially the owner - Knowing the puppy is stressed and crying is the worst thing, but just as you're trying to train them, they're testing you by crying as they're hoping they can get you to pay them attention. Usually they learn pretty quickly and quieten down once they realise you're not going to come. In saying that, there are lots of threads on this exact same thing, as everyone goes through it, and has the same concerns. I found a lot of priceless information by scouring these forums to see what has been tried and tested. I found a lot of the American forums have completely different POVs and I got the feeling that if you even leave your pup alone for an hour you're the worst owner in the world. It really is all trial and error.. What may work for some mightn't work for others..
  22. My puppy is fine and he was left alone from day one. Granted I had taken time off so I wasn't really 'away' but he thought i was. Cried for 10 - 15mins and nothing at all. I could hear him play and sleep. Lushos, I noticed in your replies to another thread that you felt you failed your puppy as he is now stressed and upset when you leave due to you being there the whole time for a few weeks when you first brought the puppy home...
