  1. Aw beautiful little babies! Congratulations!
  2. She looks perfect for cuddles, so soft and fluffy :) What a sweet little doggy. I'm holding back tears at my desk.. I really feel for you. Give her lots of cuddles and pats amidst your tuna-y blanket :) Just know that she'll be waiting for you and always watching over you..
  3. What a beautiful girl :) she looks very loved and happy. Cute little nose I don't have any new suggestions that haven't already been mentioned above, but I just wanted to send some positive happy vibes to you all.. I can't even begin to imagine what a shock it was for you. Looks like she'll live out her life happy and loved, what more could a little doggie wish for :)
  4. Lappies are great :D They're just like big Pomeranians! I know what'll be my choice if I ever get a 2nd dog in the future. They're absolutely gorgeous dogs. Mum did send some pics but it's so hard to see black poodle features with a bad camera  I've told her to take him outside tomorrow to get some sunlight and the grass as a contrast. He sounds beautiful. Today was the first time they met him, and they drove around 2hrs to the breeders house. Apparently there was a little puppy hanging around them from the moment they walked in the door and that was the puppy chosen for them so it sounds like the beginning of a wonderful journey for them all. It's so cute that he chose them without knowing that they were going to be his new owners.
  5. So true.. Fantastic advice to those who are starting to look for puppies :)
  6. My keys! They're always out in the garden under a bush! I know it's my fault for letting him play with them, but they seem to be his favourite toy and I know where to find them. They're attached to a teddy, which is what he plays with  .. and shoes. If I accidentally don't put a shoe away it ends up in Benny's bed or crate. He doesn't chew them, just snuggles with them... Strange puppy.
  7. My Mum picks up her Miniature Poodle puppy today! I'm so excited for her but she is in WA so I can't have any Poodle cuddles! I'll post some pics she sends me :D
  8. and don't get a Pomeranian if you want to be asked if you have a long haired Chihuahua! Grumpette, your dogs are beautiful :)
  9. Yay :) It's good to see time is flying by so quickly for everyone!!
  10. I just got a Nylabone off of ebay.. So many on there! Will be taking it home to my baby tonight to see if he likes it. It's a bacon flavoured fishy. I'm sure he'll be impressed  (I was)
  11. Benny's actually better with kids than he is with adults  He's quite shy around adults, but is happy to run around like a little psycho with kids. My theory is that they're closer to his height than adults are :D
  12. Don't get a Pomeranian if: You don't want to groom your pet everyday, or have a dog that doesn't shed  You don't want to get stopped in the street by everyone wanting to say hello to your dog.. You don't want a dog that yaps, and likes to warn you about everything.. Be it a fly, or an imaginary fly.. You don't want cuddles every moment of the day.. And... Don't get a Pomeranian if you want to ever be on the toilet without your Pomeranian in there with you
  13. I received an email back from the breeder about the dew claws... So as I saw on google it appears it isn't such a big issue with this breed. She wrote: "Removing dew claws is optional. It doesn't hurt them and some of mine still have them. Many are born without the rear dew claws." I do think I'll be having them removed though. Especially if the process doesn't hurt. It seems like there would be more issues if the dewclaws remained and one was torn or injured.
  14. Wow Fletcher has definitely grown!! He just doesn't look real to me! I'm convinced he's a teddy bear! He is just gorgeous!
  15. What a gorgeous face and ears he has! I just love the little doggy look of Whippets :)
  16. Ohhh more puppies arriving :D Ellazpupz - Ballet sounds like a perfect poodle name :) Suits the breed for sure!
  17. dancinbcs the breeder has been breeding / showing since the early 70s so I would presume she'd know what to look for :) ( one would hope after that amount of time anyway  ) I have a feeling based on what I read that it isn't a huge problem for Pomeranians so long as they're maintained.. Which sounds like a lot of hard work, my puppy is so wriggly there is no way I could try to clip his claws every week I haven't received a response from her yet, but going from past correspondence it takes 1-2 days to hear anything. It'll be interesting to see what she's done previously. Definitely going to get them removed, I'm just concerned that it would hurt him once the anaesthetic wears off. I feel much more confident from the answers on here about this decision.
  18. I've emailed the breeder detailing what the Vet suggested and I've asked her what she has done in the past, and asked what she recommends.. I'm sure I'll get some insight from this when she responds. Doing a quick google search it looks like that it's not uncommon for Pomeranian breeders to retain the rear dewclaws, surprisingly. There is a very popular Pomeranian breeder in Vic who has a care sheet on her website, noting that the rear, and front dew claws need to be trimmed more regularly than the other claws so they don't ingrow or snag on anything. Is it possible that it's just not a big issue in this particular breed? From what I've gathered from the responses, and doing a bit of additional research it appears it definitely is more beneficial to remove these dewclaws.
  19. How exciting! Puppy shopping is even more fun than clothes shopping! If you're anything like me you end up buying these cute toys because -you- think they're cute
  20. Hmm, I assume it was an oversight as the breeder herself is fantastic, and there are so many wonderful things about her (on DOL and off). They're such tiny little claws, but the Vet said that they have the potential of ingrowing, and since they're not really attached, they could catch on carpet etc. I might email her anyway seeking advice in the removal and ask what she has usually done or suggested in the past.. I don't want to accuse her of puppy sabotage but at least that way will prompt her to inform me of what she's done in the past and that she's forgotten about little Benny!! ETA slight grammar fail!
  21. You've repeated that it's odd that the breeder left them on twice now persephone, I'm interested to know why you think it's so overtly odd to you. Should I perhaps ask the breeder why this procedure appeared to be forgotten?
  22. I didn't realise this was something the breeder -had- to do? The vet showed me that the claws aren't even really attached to anything and assured it wasn't a very invasive procedure because of this. I guess removing them now would probably outweigh the risks of not having them done..
  23. Hi all, Benny and I were just at the Vets getting his 16week needles and to speak about the right time to have him desexed. The Vet also mentioned that Benny has rear dewclaws, and suggested I have them removed at the same time he's desexed. Are dewclaws something that should be removed? Is there any implications in having them removed and is it invasive? This Vet wasn't the usual one at the clinic that I see, and I didn't really warm to him and would like some other opinions on this. Thanks in advanced :D C x
