Could call him 'Vito' as in 'Don Vito' from The God Father (The head of the mafia). Good luck in finding a name, I'm sure it'll come to you easily once he's with you By the way, he is simply ADORABLE! :)

A Common Held Misconception About Whippets
minimiss replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Beautiful pics! What a gorgeous dog you have! .. and a super amazing camera, and skills haha. -
Good find!! Another thing to add to my ever expanding list of things to buy before my little pom comes home. Apparently it's going to be a hot and humid summer in Melb this year.. ick. These look perfect, especially if they last as long as they claim!

No advice, just sending lots of positive vibes your way. I hope all turns out for the best. JRTs are the strongest little dogs out there. They're definitely little fighters! Hang in there x

Extremely Matted Dogs Owned By Colleague - What To Do?
minimiss replied to Alkhe's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh well done with all of your progress! It's great to see people who actually action their concerns rather than just complaining that the poor dog is being neglected. Such a sad thing they already had him on file.. Let's hope something good comes out of this for his little dog. Keep on keeping us updated -
What a little soldier I hope this little man gets to have the last while of his life as happy as possible. Glad there are some good people out there. Nothing is as harmless as an elderly chihuahua.. I hope the people who dumped him get a severe dose of karma.

Stupid generalisations disgust me. You do nothing for the argument with exaggerations, generalisations and what is basically racism- besides lose credibility for your own cause. Totally agreed. I grew up in Asia because my Father was based there for work, I've since been home for 8 years now. I'd say their 'customs' are welcoming, friendly and respectful for most animals and people. Not everyone in Asia walks out and eats a random dog for breakfast. Or a Koala. Or an endangered species. You probably have people in every country who does weird things, and eat strange things. There are also some cultures who eat cockroaches, bats, spiders etc, that AREN'T Asian. So what do ya know? Aboriginals ate witchedy grubs (Sp?) and crickets etc... That might be considered disgusting to some people too. But if someone came out and said 'AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS DISGUST ME THEY EAT GRUBS AND CRICKETS'. You'd be pretty offended too. Don't tar people with the same brush unless you know all of them personally.

Looks like a quokka or something similar... Definitely not a Koala in any shape or form. Where are it's ears? it's colours? Either way, it doesn't look edible

Yeah, I think crate training may work for some, but I really don't think I could bring myself to do it. I'm a big believer that dogs aren't meant to be confined to a tiny space without being able to be let out.. It feels so 'petshopish' to me. My downstairs area is tiled too, and can easily babygate the stairs and the kitchen off so he'd hall a nice play area and puppy mats in the corner. At least he can run around with his toys and keep himself entertained whilst alone..
-
I think that's a really nice way to look at it. It's not necessarily doing a bad thing, albeit a very sad moment. Sometimes, it's just putting our little friend out of their pain and suffering.

Haha yes, I've seen so many pics of the puppy uglies stage.. So helplessly adorable I can't help but laugh. I was thinking about the puppy pads too.. I live in a townhouse with only a tiny non grassed courtyard with no shade, so it would probably be a bit nicer for him inside whilst I'm at work and when I'm home he can roam in and out. I'm sure she's a beautiful little thing. Would be so nice coming home to that excited pom smile :D You were definitely right.. half way through the pom thread, and I'm dying from all the fluffiness! :)

I suppose you've got to be a special, strong and compassionate person all in one to be in these kinds of jobs.. Same with a doctor, or a nurse. It'd be such a hard job, but it's such an important one. I get teary just seeing something on tv with a poor pet being hurt, let alone being a real life situation. Vets are definitely a wonder in my eyes.. I'll be interesting to hear answers from an actual vet about this.. It's a wonder to me too..

by the way go to the breed sub forums and have a look in the pomeranian forum and see the pics of all our little Poms, soon you can add pics of yours Oh yes I will They're beautiful.. I just melt looking at everyones poms! Are they easy to train out of yapping? and house breaking? I don't really mind the yapping when someone arrives, I live alone so a 'guard dog' will be a good thing. :p He'll be *my* first puppy. I've had a dog as a kid, but my parent's basically did the work, it was just a cute puppy to me then! Now I'm responsible for this little one! It's scary, but so so exciting!

Pomeranian He's going to be a yappy furball of love and joy. They've such sweet personalities and smiley faces hehe

It's so nice to hear such lovely stories.. I think it lets us put our faith back into these organisations as we only ever hear the bad stories.

im sorry but collars DO NOT cause collapsed trachea. genes do. im a breeder/exhibitor for 26 yrs of toy dogs here. cat collars - yes, most do have an elastic bit in them i have been advising my puppy buyers of this for a long time, and the dogs if walked on them they can slip out of them easily if they should suddenly get a fright outside their comfort zone as what happens occassionally. very dangerous. some have on here even suggested to buy a show lead but im sorry to say that they only have a metal clip to hold the dog in and even those are not safe to walk the toy dog in. seen many a dog run out of the showring and slip from the show lead so i wouldn't be advising people with young puppies to use those either. best bet is to go to either Kmart or Big W and get a collar that is made of weave elastic nylon and you can put the tongue in anywhere you want you don't have to make holes in the collar - very strong very good we have found. i could try to scan a pic of the collar to show people but i have used these for many years with no problem they are safe for little necks. think they are about 6-8 dollars but i have not bought one recently but have seen them in there not long ago still. What would you say is more preferred by most for toy dogs.. A harness or a collar? I've heard many pros/cons about both, and you've had years of experience, I'd like to pick your brain for your take on it

"backyard Breeders" Posing As Purebred Breeders
minimiss replied to lushos's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think to some extent everyone 'lurks' before joining somewhere. Just like window shopping.. Seeing if you like it, seeing if it fits and just shopping for information generally before going in to something. It gives you a nice feel of what to expect, and what is expected from you as well. (Instead of jumping in head first being completely unaware of what's going on, and perhaps stepping on toes! :p). I think it's really great all dog lovers can come to one place and chat. It's also great that you, Purdie, overcome a lot and is still here
