I'm wary of any of the terrier breeds if I'm out walking with my dogs- due to past experiences, have had my dog attacked by 3 JRTs- stupid owner had no control they seem to be trouble-makers! Bitey, fast and tenacious! Due to working in kennels for a long time, have become wary (not scared of) ACD's and Shar Peis and little poms/chihs/silkys in a kennel environment- as they are what we have had the most trouble with.

I don't think it was Mason that was being the trouble-marker with the goldie pup from what I can remember Candice saying.

I have a long list of "I wants" (comes with working at a kennels) but realistically I will probably never own these breeds, I'm stuck on Boxers My heart breed. Although I would like a Dobermann one day to accompany my Boxers. But I love: Boxers Dobermanns Cane Corso Bullmastiff Great Dane Amstaff Brittany French Bulldog Bostons English Springers Vizslas GSPs Malinois Akitas Bearded Collies Aussie Shep English Bulldog

Boxer or Dobe. Boxers are GREAT with kids (couldn't think of a better "kids" dog to be honest), but they seem to be 50/50 in regard to dog-agression, I guess alot would have to do to socialisation. From what I've seen of Dobes, they are very similar to boxers in temperament, but not so "goofy" for want of a better word. 2 out of 3 of the cane corso's I know are good with other dogs- the 2 good ones being the males, the not so dog friendly one being female. What about Bullmastiff? Or a Leo?

Should I Ask Vet For Pain Killers
boxagirl replied to chataboxboxers's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi, How is your dog going? My Boxer girl has growth (polyps) removed from her mouth yearly- they grow back. The first time she had it done the vet forgot to give us painkillers to take home, Bondi was sore for about a day then was fine. The mouth heals quickly. Since then she has always had painkillers. -

In the 6 years I've worked in the kennels, I have seen 1 purebred maltese. Most are shih X malts, and then there is the lhasa x malts, bichon and poodle crosses too. I have seen more pure shih's than malts. I think so many shih x malts have been bred to other shih x malts that they have just earned themselves the generic term SWF.

Some Breeds Less 'smelly' Than Others?
boxagirl replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a double coated breed which I bath, and groom out. I think it would get pretty smelly if it was never bathed. Maybe this is why most of the ones we get in at work tend to smell, the owners just don't bother. -

From the dogs we get in at the kennels I definately wouldnt say malamutes are low odour.. maybe if they were bathed weekly. -

Get a Boxer, they are clean like the dobes, and aren't the type of dog that will go and roll in things. They are "cat like clean" and have no doggy odour. I think you need to stick to a short haired, single coated breed for the no doggy smell. Boxer, dobe, weim, GSP etc. Spitz breeds have no smell when they are clean- but they stick when they are dirty! I too have smelt that "poodle smell" that you are talking about -
Would love to see them give it a try one day! When proper training starts again (when it is cold enough- we only run when it is below 15 degrees) training starts later, usually 6pm or later- if that helps. We train and race in the dark (usuing headlights and bike lights)

Hi Mim, any breed can join as long as they are physically able. Can have any amount of dogs from 1 to 8. There aren't any corgis there at the moment, but there are some mini bullies, small border collies and a tiny sibe doing it, so I don't think size is a big issue, as long as the dogs can run and pull WASSA WEBSITE Here is the clubs website which has all the details We train at 5pm on sat and sundays at the gnangara pine plantation- near ellenbrook. The last beginners day is tomorrow at 4pm, at the pines, but if you want to come down and give it a try when real training starts you can borrow harnesses/scooters and ganglines from the club and members are always happy to help I started at the start of last year with my sibes, it is great fun. There is also a WASSA facebook page with heaps of info if you have facebook

Does Anyone Else Miss Being Able To Buy White Bed Linen?
boxagirl replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
I miss having nice sheets too If I have dark sheets on the bed, theres little orange hairs and slobber marks Light sheets, you see dirty pawprints if it has been raining outside Just means I have to wash the sheets more often. - worst job in the world -
yay a Rotti team would be awesome!! A team of Labs started the other day! Geez they are strong
