  1. Mischa reminds me alot of Wolf! Wow can't believe you picked that! Wolf has a Matrak bitch in the 3rd generation of his pedigree. Heres his pedigree Are Wolf and Mischa related?
  2. My Boxer has definately WAYYY more drive than my Sibe- for food and toys (My boxer is more play driven than food driven) But then I'm only just starting TID with my sibe now- but it just seemed to come easier for my Boxer.
  3. My Boxer is smaller than my husky :D about border collie size... the females aren't big :D One my list if I ever venture into a different group (love my utility dogs) is Brittany but I like clingy-ish dogs
  4. Maybe she's smarter than the owner and just doesn't want to do it
  5. Have to take Bondi to the vet this week for xrays- she's pulled up sore today and is limping again. Hoping its nothing major- but it'l be good to finally know.
  6. I like athletic looking dogs. I want a dog I can do things with(obedience, agility etc), Boxers can do just about anything. I like a challenge (hence doing obedience with a boxer and a sibe ) and think gaining an obedience title will be so much more rewarding to me than if I had one of the more common competition dogs. I want a dog that will protect me- so that I can walk at night and feel safe home alone. Bondi has a very convincing bark. I want a dog that can just chill and entertain itself, but be ready to train/play/jog/walk the instant I'm ready- but I don't want a dog that will pester me for these things. I like a dog that follows me around the house. I like a dog that I can let offlead and wants to stay with me. I like smoochy dogs, but ones that will give you space when told enough. I cannot stand yappy dogs, or dogs that jump up. I could not live with the tenaciousness of terriers, I will never own a terrier. I could not own a hound, they are too independant for me.
  7. No stairs and non-slipery floors (for large dogs- joints/arthritis etc.. I want slate of non-slipery tiles At present we have floor boards) A nice big empty distraction free training room (or a refurbished double garage )
  8. Thanks ;) I took the first step with Wolf today and took him for a walk next to the bike on the springer (with me walking the bike). To my surprise he seemed to know what to do, and had a nice steady gait. He turned with the bike and stayed right next to me, and ignored other dogs walking by. I can't wait to get him out on a run when the weather cools! great news! Even more of an incentive to do the ET
  9. Here is a - taking it slow as she is old and developing arthritis. I'm happy with how it worked, now to do a test run with Wolf...
  10. My husky soaks his feet in buckets of water to keep cool- I think keeping feet cool is the quickest way to cool down. Like any dog- if their whole body is wet and then they go out in the sun the water is just going to heat up- so It's best to cool them from underneath or their pads
  11. Yay got the Springer sucessfully hooked up to my bike! Although it is going to take some getting used to! Taking Bondi on it's maiden voyage tonight to test it out- because she is already trained to run next to a bike on lead- so should be nice and easy. Hoping to take Wolf on his first run tomorrow morning- on some nice soft grass incase I come off!
  12. I'll take you clubbing Emery I'm VIP at Eve at the casino so we can get in free and skip the line
  13. Me and Wolf are in If I can ever fit the damn springer to my bike lol
  14. No sucess for us tonight- couldn't get springer to fit properly onto the bike I intended to use. Going to try to hook it up onto a different bike tomorrow
  15. I will, I'm sure he won't want to though He will probably think it's sledding- I think this will take abit of retraining. It says to use a harness with the springer, but I think I'm just going to use a collar, otherwise he will definately think he is sledding!
  16. Yay my Springer came today! Big thumbs up to Pets Providore- I only oredered it 2 days ago and it's already here! Taking Wolf for his first run this afternoon Nice cool weather here for once- just hope it doesnt start raiing again like it was this morning!
  17. I got Springer from Pets Providore- theres link to their website on the DOL advertisments. Was $99- free postage coz they are in WA
  18. Esky I've been having the same problem with Wolf He is show trained so naturally wants to be facing me. But now I have only been rewarding his straight drops only and he is getting the idea
  19. Brought a springer yesterday to start training Wolf up (yes I know I can't use it in the test, just wanted to get him used to running next to the bike safely Can't wait until it arrives Now to find a cheap bike computer that does distance and speed etc..
  20. I don't see why the breed is relevant- as has already been pointed out, the media has misidentified the breed again.- people who has seen photo's have said it was a mal. One of my huskys (the girl) has high prey drive and will chase rabbits/rats etc (not other dogs though). My other boy shows none of this prey drive at all- and is routinely left alone with a chihuahua no problems. It varies with the breed, as with all breeds.
  21. Was there an owner present or were these roaming dogs? It's not a very well written article. As are Jack Russels.
