  1. Yes she definitely is and has been for many years, although she has changed breeds. I have lodged a formal complaint with the registering body as well.
  2. What contract, she was meant to post everything to me and I got NOTHING. She never replied to my contact when I was trying to find out what was going on with the stuff. Like as soon as she got her $ she couldn't be bothered answering emails or returning calls. Before that she was quickly replying to everything.
  3. No I don't think it would be a great idea to name them on here. And she has still not given me any papers anyway so I can't write all the details down here. The puppy's skin is looking a little better as he has been on antibiotics and ear drops for over a week so the secondary stuff is clearing but he still has both front legs, stomach and back legs with patchy hair loss and a moth eaten appearance. The breeder said if it is as bad as I say I should send it back to her and she will "just have the F***ing thing killed then". Way to have the best interests of the dogs at heart all we asked for was a partial refund as the dog was not what she had told us it was. She still would have made money out of it. Sorry I am so angry, waiting to hear back on some legal advice before proceeding further.
  4. Well, we have been screamed at, sworn at and verbally abused by the breeder for suggesting there is anything wrong with a dog from her. She is completely non-negotiable and told us we would be charged with harassment if we called her again (we left two messages, she called me once and hung up on me, then my husband called her and she hung up after screaming at him so he tried to call back and she said we are harassing her). So it looks like we have paid above the odds for a very expensive pet. Lucky he is a lovely dog and tolerating his treatments well so far. I hope no one else ever has to deal with this woman. I wish there was a way to make her give us a partial refund.
  5. No it *may* not be a life sentence, I was purely going by what the vet said and none of what he said was positive. He basically said we would be fighting an uphill battle for the life of the dog and it will be costly and time consuming, more than likely continually reoccurring for the life of the dog. He said by about age 4 he would probably have thickened black skin and no hair on his legs etc....but as I said I am getting another opinion. I have to take the pup back to the vet this morning as he is having an adverse reaction to the ivermectin. I want to keep the dog and just desex, keep as a pet - but the point is we paid a lot for this dog under the understanding it was a good show/breeding prospect and it is not. That is what my husband is so annoyed about. And yes bad luck does happen, maybe it was just bad luck.
  6. If you have premium dog food that your dog wont eat or that you are not happy with just RETURN IT. What is the point in getting samples when they give 100% Money back guarantee? If the stores give you hell for it report them to the pet food company (should be a 1800 number on the pack) and they will get on to it for you. Why waste money with 1/2 a bag lying around?
  7. Thank you everyone. Sandra I think you have hit the nail on the head, I need to step back and think long term- costs, issues, relationship. However my heart is saying the breeder will either put the pup down or breed from it, both of which are hard for me to hear. I want to help it :-( Zeebie, I applaud your dedication to helping a demodex pup, and I really want to help my baby...but I do *sort of* agree with my husband, it was sold to us as a breeding a show dog, and neither can be done. The breeder does not seem to have any issues with passing on hereditary problems, seems to have very limited regard for the health of the breed. This wasn't apparent when we secured the pup. I hope no one else goes through what we are going through. What shampoo were you finding an issue (please message me if needed)? we have slightly altered the diet to exclude types of grain after many readings, we have also made sure no steroids are to be used, I am seeking a second opinion as well but on the hunt for a really SUPER good vet. Fish oil is being added to his diet also after a lot of reading. Heart wrenching. situation to be in. So much time and effort and love given to a pup. I can't bear to be away from it
  8. Yes it is on the main reg. I called the breeder as soon as we got home and she recommended a product to use but said it's common and that was about it. Didn't seem to bother her, even when I explained the extent and what the vet said about life long issues and not breeding. She said you can still breed it.. I didn't ask about taking it back or anything then, just wanted to tell her what the vet said and see what she said. We have definitely started treatments, of course. I can message the breed and colour to you Haredown Whippets, I would prefer not to say too much on here in case I get in trouble somehow.
  9. Is severe generalised demodectic mange at 16 weeks a reason to return a pup?? I am totally besotted with my pup, my husband is LIVID that the dog is now "useless" (as in cannot ETHICALLY breed from it and cannot show it etc) and is about to cost us a lifetime of skin care. Vet said it was a very severe case with such a fast onset we are in trouble. Advice please.....I don't want to lose my baby but my husband is so angry about the cost of the dog and of course the ongoing costs that are coming when the vet said it is genetic immune suppression... I highly doubt the breeder would want it back anyway...
  10. I don't need the papers quickly really, I was just curious because they said they would send them in the next couple of weeks.... I'm only a novice and would like to have a crack at showing even if we are no good. Worth a shot and would be a good experience. All in all we love the little man so much!! Yeah I don't think the breeder was what she made herself out to be (nor are her dogs what I was lead to believe) and that is my loss (although gained a beautiful pet at any rate) it is my own fault and I fully acknowledge that.
  11. thanks guys, I will give the breeder a buzz and see how they are going.
  12. and of course the obvious, feed more meals per day, with less food in them, helps stop the scavenging!
  13. Sorry for the stupid question - I bought a main registered pup about 3 weeks ago....to say I wasn't impressed with the breeder is an understatement - but yeah still took the baby I know I'm a idiot. But they were a LONG way from my home and the photos and info they sent throuugh didn't exactly match their actual circumstances....anyway at the time of taking the pup we were given him microchip number and vacc card but no papers, she said she would forward them asap but we have heard nothing since. How long does it normally take to get the papers through?
  14. Not sure about the Mally one but the staffie one was supervised. The mum was in the yard with the child and family pet.
  15. Sorry to the OP, this is going a little off track. Because it is not a complete and balanced diet. It is a mix. You can't label a food that is not complete and balanced as a premium food. It is preservative and colour free etc, but it's still not a complete and balanced premium food. I don't think there's anything wrong with it and I have seen quite a lot of it sold so I am sure there are a lot of people who love it. It has a good reputation.
  16. She said she was looking for a premium dry food. I answered based on that. Vets all Natural is not a premium dog food, and not a dry food either.
  17. Actually there is nothing wrong with a 16 month old dog being on weight control food. The reduction in fat and protein per weight of dry food is why I recommended the food intake be increased. I'm not recommending it for weight loss, but for the high level of insoluble fibre load that premium weight loss foods have in them which will aid in managing the anal gland issue. I would really NOT recommend trying to empty them while they are inflammed and irritated, you will just end up with dog that is terrified of anyone touching his poor little bum
  18. Definitely a high fibre food. There is a lot more bulk in the weight loss and weight control foods so even though your dog is in great condition I would be inclined to try a weight control food for the fibre load. It could get more expensive though as you would need to feed more to keep the weight on him I suppose.
  19. Had she had the dog for a few weeks without vaccinating it? How old was the pup? Had she been taking it out and about places with a high level of dog traffic before it has been fully immunised?
  20. I worry about the broken teeth they cause. You only have to feel a raw bone vs a smoked one and you can see the difference.
  21. Ewww really? Chicken meal normally contains rendered necks mainly, containing both the meat and bone and ground to a pulp, whereas chicken by-product meal normally (in PREMIUM FOODS) contains viscera, liver and some heart tissue, white meat, dark meat - bones removed - and ground and cooked. Check the ash content of your chosen food to see how much bone meal is in it. Especially important in large breed dogs! Whilst 'by-product' probably doesn't sound appealing to humans, what is wrong with it in a dog food? Note the number of people around feeding chicken carcasses anyway...
  22. While this is true to some extent. There is a lot of manipulation that goes on to get the product labels to read just like that. For example I think it was a Canidae product that lots of people swear by because the first thing that appears is a protein, but if you read along there are two or three different types of potato in there, as well as rice etc. In effect, this food could be mainly potato and rice based with a smaller amount of meat, but for labelling purposes they have split the potato ingredients up so that the protein appears first. It happens a lot and is an easy way to make their product appear better than another product that doesn't manipulate their ingredient list as much.
