  1. Yay! Baby photos! They are sooooo cute! They are definitely going to be stunners when they grow up! :D
  2. Not sure about the bob a lot, but my beast has a wobbler, a Nina ottoSson pyramid, a couple of genius kongs (mike and Leo), an everlasting treat ball, a magic mushroom and a blue hollow 'stick' that I can't remember the name of of! Reggie's favorites are the magic mushroom (which you can adjust the difficulty on) the genius kongs and the wobbler/ pyramid. I would definitely like to try a bob a lot and the 'buster cube' looks good too...... Not that he has enough treat toys All have their own pros and cons, but one 'pro' I have found very useful is if the toy is easy to fill/clean. Eg the wobbler and magic mushroom completely un screw, unlike the pyramid and others that you can spend AGES poking kibbles through the little hole/s!
  3. Awwwwwwww! They are all so beautiful! I think the first pic of Daisy's litter is my favorite, and the second pic of Blossoms litter. I am very jealous of all the puppy breath (and cuddles!) ............ Not all the poo though!
  4. If it is very recent, maybe it's the change of season?
  5. Nawwww! They are gorgeous! Glad to see they are all doing well. :)
  6. Nawww! Reggie is such a cutie! Just be thankful she isn't a great Dane!
  7. Hmmmm...I'm definitely thinking some sort of gun dog. The shape looks a bit heavier than your average pointer etc, maybe a bit like a Bracco Italiano?
  8. This is from another thread: Quote by Augustine the Boxer Apparently there are millions of camels in the Australian outback and they are being culled. Some of these camels eat indigofera which contains the acid indospicine. It is a toxic amino acid. Although there is no evidence to suggest it is harmful to humans or camels, dogs consuming meat from camels that have eaten indigofera have suffered severe liver disease and in some cases it has been fatal. A thread on another forum says a cheap barf containing camel meat killed dogs early last year. Camels run wild so there is no way of controlling which ones have been exposed to the toxin. About a year ago when I was researching meat that I could use in Augustine's Super Food I spoke to a man who deals in camel meat and he told me about the indigofera problem. He pointed me in the direction of a member of parliament that verified this to be true and correct. After he explained that research needs to be carried out (which is very expensive and no one will fund), I decided it was better to be safe than sorry. Until they find a way to control or test which camels have been exposed to the toxin I would not use it. It is a shame because it is a good meat that is being culled anyway. Here is an article: http://www.abc.net.a...el-meat/2666520
  9. I have actually met a dog called Mulch  . And Tree Stump..... Both Kelpie/ Kelpie Crosses.....
  10. R.I.P little girl As both mums have flower names, maybe that could be a theme! :D and for the boys, more of a plant/ tree based theme! 11. Yay! Go Ollie! Here's hoping he has found his forever home! You have done a fabulous job with him
  12. Wellness does have grain free, just not in Australia I have asked but at the moment it seems a no go. Same with dry cat food! If you are after grain free I'd recommend TOTW.
  13. Thank you all! Definitely some tips I can pass along. I hate trying to give people advice on things im not sure about I will now be reccommending a pin brush instead of a slicker, and adding detangler to the basic 'essentials' list. The one about getting them used to grooming as puppies is also a great one, I do try to press that idea on customers, unfortunately a lot of the people coming in are already battling with a dog that hasn't been desensitized to being groomed. Some come in and seem to think that getting a 'special' brush will solve all their problems. I didn't know about the feet, i usually only mention them in relation to nail clipping (which also seems to be a HUGE problem for so many people i see) and the ear plucking so will definitely mention that too. I also try to tell customers (if they are unsure/ new to it all) to get in contact with a GOOD groomer, who can offer a lot more guidance and expertise than a shop assistant can! And that they can ensure a puppys first experiences with clipping etc are good ones.
  14. I work in the pet supplies industry and am often asked by customers for advice on their dog's coat, they are often shocked when i say that they should be, at the very least, brushing the dog. Not to mention clipping. I do not have an SWF/ oodle type dog, (I have a BC, BCx, Kelpie and a wirey haired terrier mix.) so I'm not sure what to suggest. I have been suggesting a slicker type brush and comb as 'essentials' but I'm not sure if I'm giving the best advice as I don't know first hand. What are the 'essentials'? Can anyone reccommend any websites/ books that tailor to the beginner/uninitiated? (for me to research and somewhere I can refer customers to)
  15. My kelpie is a torpedo in the water, he is very streamlined and uses his ears as power steering! My BCx swims like he's going to drown, he is very fluffy so at first all his coat acts like a big 'floaty', unfortunately as it gets wet it starts to drag him down after a while all you can see of him is his head. Luckily he is decent at swimming, it only looks like he's drowning! The little terrier mix swims well, she just looks like a drowned rat when she gets out! The BC is a princess when it comes to water (mud is a totally different matter!) and looks disgusted at the others who dain to get wet.
  16. That's good about Jerry's itches. My dad trying to eat the 'stews' hell pick up a can 'ooooh, this looks good! Is it for dinner?' he just can't seem to get that it's DOG FOOD!
  17. Ive tried the whitefish and sweet potato one. Dogs like it, even the fussy one, so that's a good start. Didn't notice a difference in stool, coat or health on it, though I don't feed a predominantly kibble diet. I must also say I work at Petbarn and have only seen a couple of people return it, one to get the 'small dog' stuff as the kibble was too big for her little dog. So no different than the other super premium brands on that face.
  18. Nawww. It's great that Ollie is getting a potential new home, hope he is on his bestest behavior! :D I am also sad because I do so enjoy following his progress and all the beautiful photos and stories you post about him.
  19. Reggie is very cute! I think Sealyham terriers are gorgeous, too must terrier for me though! I have a Reggie too (mines a Kelpie though) I think it is a great name!
  20. Wow that's very cool! Looks like too much hard work to me!
  21. No real advice as such, but My border collie had cruciate surgery (TTO) in December, wound was stapled and left for 12/13 days (over the Christmas period) when she was taken back to have them removed the wound wasn't quite healed at the top but otherwise ok. The staples were removed. By the next morning the whole 15cm wound was completely open and gaping. rushed her back to the vet and they re-stapled (under anaesthetic) the wound, free of charge. I'm not sure if my vet is typical with the free restapling, or it may be on a case by case basis. Hope your girl heals well and doesn't cause you too much more stress!
