  1. RIP little babies at least they spent some time with you knowing what love was all about Hope you're ok too Tdierikx.... You do a wonderful job, it must be so hard some times
  2. Lol! My Kelpie has the problem that his mouth isn't big enough to fit more than one ball at a time it's very very hard for him poor baby.....
  3. OT but Sway, that coat your Dane is wearing is GORGEOUS! Where did you get it?
  4. My guys get done every couple of weeks. I don't religiously do them, I check first. I do like to keep their nails as short as possible. The Kelpie doesn't reaaallly ever need his done, I just take off the very tips of his every now and then. The three older dogs nails seem to grow faster. The little terrier has all four dew claws, so I make sure to keep an eye on them. Not sure why but I fing that my dogs's lighter coloured nails grow heaps more than their darker ones?
  5. I hope this isn't a stupid question, but does having their whiskers taken off effect a dog in any way? I know it's horrible for a cat if their whiskers are gone, though I suppose dogs aren't as reliant on them?
  6. Thanks SSM :D unfortunately most of the whippets I see in my area look like the two above
  7. salukibel Bella is GORGEOUS! I think she looks fabulous! I hate seeing fat sight hounds, they look like sausages on toothpicks we have quite a few whippets in my area and most are 'well covered'. Though there a couple who are lean and fit, it's nice to see. My Kelpie (though not a sight hound :p ) often gets comments about his weight, 'wow! He is skinny' and that I should 'feed him more' but from people who know anything about working dogs or what a healthy fit conditioned dog looks like, he gets lots of compliments Not the best pics.......
  8. Oh. My. Dog! He is ADORABLE! Is he as soft and cuddly as he looks?
  9. No the best shot, this is my friends champion JRT Piccolo. She has an 'extra' curl that I think is adorable. When she is being a flirt it gets even curlier :D
  10. Sounds like she just doesn't want lunch if she eats it at breakfast and dinner! Weight wise if you are worried try having a chat with your breeder, they may have some tips for you. Being lean isn't a bad thing for a pup, (though there is lean and too lean) I would rather have a pup a little too thin than a fatty, it's much better for their joints and growth. If you are still worried about her weight I would suggest talking to your vet and maybe starting a thread about it on here? I know there are lots of threads on helping dogs gain weight but I'm not sure which would be suitable for a pup.
  11. Does she happily eat it at brekky and dinner? If so you could try doing as Minimax said. Split her lunch into halves and try dividing it between the two other meals. Otherwise if you think she is hungry at lunch you could try giving her lunch to her in a quick training session.
  12. They seriously expected you to just put him back on the street? I don't know what the 'legal' obligations are, but surely their moral obligation is to keep the dog safe and not tell someone to put it back where they found it geez! I can imagine less cluey people dropping the dog back off, what if then the dog got run over etc? Would the person 'returning' the dog be held responsible? I would be horrified and very angry if one of my dogs was treated that way Wile it might not be their obligation, I've always found the vets in my local area to be always happy to scan a dog and hold onto them until the contacted owner can come and pick up the animal. I've always assumed that all vet practices would do the same.
  13. Just with the light up leads/ collars see if you can check if they make any ultra sonic noise. A friend won one at a trial and thought great! But as soon as she turned it on the dogs when absolutely NUTS.
  14. ........... Ok. Maybe just a leeeeeetle bit....... Lol. No, really, they are strange buggers! Sheep- goats with an added extra bit of psycho.......
  15. I feed predominantly royal Canin and raw. I would like to feed mostly raw, but for convenience sake ( i travel around a bit, so my dad feeds them a bit) kibble happens 3-4+ times a week. They all do wonderfully on the royal Canin, and the fussy one will happily chow down on it. The four dogs: Three ( BCx, BC and Terrier x) get RC- currently medium adult but usually weight control, because I got a bag of adult cheap. How much they get depends on which food they are being fed. I don't bother buying small dog biscuits as the terrier (7.5kg with a Shih Tzu jaw) copes fine with the bigger bikkies. The two oldies (12 and 10) get joint supplements and fish/ krill oil daily. The fourth is a skinny beast so he gets RC 4800 and sometimes a bit of whatever the other are having. He also gets K9 Super fuel on hard working days. They all get yoghurt, sardines/ tuna/ salmon, eggs, vege etc weekly. RMBs a couple of times a week, and barf/ van/ K9 natural semi regularly. The cats get a mixture of most of the super premium brands. They have a 8kg tub which I top up/ mix when it gets low. ( I do let it run down every so often so there isnt any reeeally old food in there!) They also get the same raw stuff as the dogs.
  16. Theyre weird creatures, aren't they ? :) Oi! We're not weird! :p
  17. Thanks guys. I think I was leaning towards the peanut, but thought that the egg looked interesting. i am predominately after the most versatile one, so I think that will be the go. we have had a go on a friends peanut and Reg was doing awesomely for a first go.......after he worked ou that it is NOT a giant ball to play with Huski, it's for general fitness/ strength. Mostly for my Kelpie, though I may use it for my BC who needs regular rehab type work for the cruciate ligament she ruptured late 2011. Do they come with instructions/ exercises? Is it worth getting with one of the Fitpaws ' on the ball' DVDs?
  18. I want to get a Fitpaws 'something' but am unsure which one to get. What are the differences between the products? From what I can tell the donut is for little/ unsure dogs, but I'm not sure about the egg vs peanut. Anyone got one/ both? What do you find best?
  19. Rocky has perfected the 'nose-crotch' poke. it NEVER fails to get ANYONE'S attention! I have never anyone NOT react to getting 'goosed' by Rocky it's really embarrassing, but because its self rewarding I can't seem to get rid of it >.< Reggie either barks at you, wiggles all over whatever body part he can get to or stares into your soul. Tess just whinges. And Sadie presses herself against you.
  20. Hahaha! I can see Stan opening an eye from his bed and then going back to sleep from all the energy expended... T. No no, Stan would welcome them, but only after making them open the fridge for him first! :D
