Thanks for your replies everyone :) Yes it is just that one bloke's opinion but tbh Thea hasn't been fussed on her BH for a few months and her coat just seems a bit dull lately. That is good advice Scottsmum. Maybe I need to do some research on which food contains what. I just want a good quality food for an active dog without all the grains and fillers ect. She has raw so just want something else to bulk it out with.

Hi everyone sorry to bombard the forum with another kibble thread. I searched for a similar thread which I am sure is still there it's just I can't find it. Long story short, I went to the shop to get the new pup her Advance today and asked the bloke about Black Hawk for my 2 year old shepherd which she is currently on. He says he now rates BH at the bottom end of the quality scale and said he wouldn't get it. My girl hasn't got much BH left in the bag I have an is not fond of it atm. I know this is just one bloke's opinion, but interested in what others think and which brand would be a good one to look at for an active 2 yr old? Thanks heaps guys :)

Help! My Neighbour's Dog Killed My Husky :(
german_shep_fan replied to HuskyDrake's topic in General Dog Discussion
So very sorry to hear what happened to your beautiful Husky. Makes me so angry when people with aggressive dogs simply ignore the issue or don't do anything to control them. Thinking of you HuskyDrake -

Agreed. I don't blame you for not wanting to desex when she is due next week and I wouldn't blame any vets that would not do it either. Others have given great advice esp with the considerations with C-section and care after the birth ect. Hopefully the breeder will give you some advice on the whelping and raising of the pups and care of mum. Hope all goes well for you. Keep us updated.

I would also consider going to a canine chiro. If my girl ever pulls up lame especially in the legs it is usually referred pain from either the neck or pelvis being out. It only takes a slip or bump at speed to throw something out.

Hopefully the "if you don't spay/neuter your dog you are irresponsible scum" animal rights brigade haven't pressured him into it! I would be leaving him, but not my dog therefore not my business

Aww so cute

Like I said differing opinions, no point wasting time arguing over it, I couldn't do it thats fine, if other ppl say they could then so be it, that's for them to decide, hopefully none of us would ever be in that situation in the first place!

I wouldn't eat a family member that's for sure! If that differs from your opinion thats all good, but I just couldn't do it, no matter what and I'm not going to apologise for it. Even if I survived by eating them I would be racked with guilt for the rest of my life.

My girl does this sometimes, can mean blocked anal glands that need secreting or maybe an infection in the anal gland? Edit: RMS put my answer up at same time as you, sorry

Dog Show Spectator Etiquette
german_shep_fan replied to Brandiandwe's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is one at our obedience club, I thought it was a Foxhound at first -
Not sure if this is useful to you or not issue was a fair while ago and was not deliberately ignored but thought I would post links to info in case it was :) http://workingdogs.com/doc0155.htm http://www.gsdinfo.co.uk/Health/Hemophilia.htm

The cat thing I understand, but not the kid thing. Do some reading on Fipronil. Unfortunately for any of these products to truly be effective there is usually some level of toxic material. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm also looking at Advantix. Is this not a wise thing to use on my two dogs if I have a cat? No apparently Advantix is poisonous to cats.

Petition Asking For The Rspca To Be Made Accountable
german_shep_fan replied to Perry's Mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I breed. Well one litter so far, but I intend more. I didn't just 'allow' my dog to breed. I tested her value to the breed in the show ring, undertook all recommended health tests, didn't make the final decision to go ahead until I had owners lined up, looked far and wide for a suitable stud, and eventually imported semen from the US for her. I feel every responsibility for her puppies and always will. I feel no responsibility at all for the dogs in the pound. I am sorry for them, but my being a breeder has nothing to do with them being there. Some of us are very specific in the dogs we want to live with. We are not a home waiting for just any dog. Take away our options and you take away that home, it is not going to filled by anything else. I really don't get why my breed should cease to be bred in this country because there are irresponsible owners who treat their dogs like disposable commodities and who are never held account for it, and irresponsible breeders who cater to them - it is that call for no breeding at all that has seen me drop all my donations to rescue organisations, which used to be significant. Back to the OP - I agree the RSPCA needs to be more accountable, and I will look at the petition in more depth, thank you for posting it. Well said, just because someone buys a puppy doesn't mean a shelter dog died because that person chose to buy a puppy from a breeder! Chances are they would never of gotten a dog from rescue anyway. I will never understand that line of thinking: don't breed or buy whilst others die. Of course I feel badly for them, but how abt hating on the low life's that dumped them there in the first place instead of ppl who take the time to find lovely homes for their dogs and take responsibility for that dog for its whole life, whether it be 5 months or 15 years. I know it would be impossible to police but I would love ppl who dump dogs at the pound to be put on a list so they can never own a dog again! As someone else in this thread said, owning a dog should be a privilege not a right. Sorry for going off topic OP -
