I see Mace is back again with valued and informative input I hope your friend manages to find the ppl responsible! I bet my bottom dollar they will be avoiding the area where your friend was attacked for a while, they obviously know they are in big trouble. Bloody cowards

Yes you're right. It's such a clever ad and I'm sure Kelly could train her dogs to do just about anything. She works so hard at promoting her purebred dogs. She's a brilliant girl xx Just went and visited her website. Her dogs are just beautiful

Just wondering what everyone would recommend as the best dryfood around? I have two GSDs, one 7yrs and one nearly 5mnths. I had my pup on the Hills Science Diet puppy formula but wondering what is the best for her as she grows into an adult and also for my boy. He is currently on Hills ZD due to tummy upset.

They are both closely related to my girl (I'll put up a pic when I'm on the computer). They are great lines!! I highly recommend Raennik!! If it wasn't for Leigh we wouldnt have gotten our girl! I train with a few dogs with those sort of lines and am very impressed with them! (although I don't have much exp when it comes to GSD's) ETA- Here is our Fluffball - 1IMG_0859 by kalexte, on Flickr 1IMG_7880 by kalexte, on Flickr 1IMG_7947 - Copy by kalexte, on Flickr A beautiful looking girl Jessca :) I would love to post some pics of my new girl here and hijack this thread  She does have some workers further back but she herself is not a working shep. Big sable mummy and BIG black/tan daddy :) Her finishing weight vet thinks will be up around the 40kg mark :) :D -

Aggressive Dog At The Beach
german_shep_fan replied to lovemyrottie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definately report to council. Its morons like this that do our breed no favours! Esp with all the BSL crap atm. Report the dog before it hurts or scares other dogs or kids Sorry you had to experience something like that -
Yes i was wondering abt a UTI also. Thank you Alyosha and Persephone :)

She rolls over on her own for belly rubs, she likes them. She is not an overly submissive pup and i am not overly domineering with her at all so im not sure. One thing i have noticed tho when she toilets is that she positions one leg further out then the other so i am thinking a chiro check? I have noticed sometimes she also gets up slightly before she has finished so maybe it stays wet from that? Vet did hip checks on her for me at 4mths and checked her gait ect and he was happy with her (ik its too early to tell conclusively she is ok...) so i am hoping its not a sign of HD. Edit: sorry i realise i said in my post i roll her over to belly rub, sometimes i do and its there and sometimes she rolls over herself to ask for one and its wet then too.

Hi everyone I have a 4 1/2 mnth old female German Shepherd. I have noticed the past 3 days or so that whenever i roll her over to give her a belly scratch ect that the fur around her genital area is always wet. Its not just saliva from her mouth it is actually wet. She is not wet anywhere else so this has me worried. Do you think she is slightly incontinent? I read one puppy health website that said its abnormal at this age of course and that it could mean things have not formed properly or are misaligned and it can be very serious so now i am really worried I have a mobile vet so i am going to call him first thing tomorrow morning. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Thank you everyone.

Nurture Or Nature? A Question Of Breeding
german_shep_fan replied to MelodysMum's topic in In The News
Yep they do, they are uneducated morons. Even worse, they think if they get rid of all bull breeds then all the big "aggressive" breeds all their doggie problems will be solved  -

Lol awesome!!! -
A wonderful story :) I hope this breeder does get the recognition he deserves A breeder i know who i am friends with did this exact same thing, only the dog was not as old as the one in this story. Trouble is as she would be viewed here as a "byb" she will never get recognition for loving her dogs as much as regisitered breeders

Nurture Or Nature? A Question Of Breeding
german_shep_fan replied to MelodysMum's topic in In The News
I was saying yesterday how uniformed and worrying the public comments on that article are! If some of those idiots had their way nothing over 5cm tall would be legal! -
I was told at obedience school that dogs actually have no idea of their own size and that the SWFs actually in their own minds think they are just as big as the large breeds :D I have 2 GSDs and have no breed biases, often many of my friends clear the park when they see a staffy come in, all the poor staffies i have ever met at our park (and yes i go on average at least 6 out of 7 days per wk) just come up and greet you with their staffy smiles and then are happy to run and play with the other dogs. I have met some shocking dogs for dog socialisation from many breeds that are considered "family" dogs and no threat to anyone. It just depends on the individual dog. My boy loves hanging out with the SWF as he prefers to just spectate  SWF on the whole like him too and often will run underneath him if things are getting out of hand with other larger dogs lol There is a small dog area at the park we go to and its great that ppl use that for their small dogs. Many owners love for their little dogs to mix with the bigger dogs and some do not, thats fine either way. I am particularly glad the little park exists though for owners who SWF come into the big park and try to bite all the bigger dogs or whose owners pick them up (thus raising them above all the other dogs- not just literally) and get pissed that other dogs want to say hi to theirs. In saying that though incidents such as those are rare at our dog park, and often the small and big dog owners have a great talk over the fence to each other

Wasn't it revealed that samples got switched or something dodgy happened with that? It would be just awful to find out that the dog was actually never carrying it

Given his appearance I'd say he's lucky he doesn't live in Victoria...far too much breed hysteria here for a dog that looks like this fellow. He does look a sweetie. :) Have you read some of the comments on that SMH article today? shockers some ppl! Sorry, which article? http://www.smh.com.au/victoria/nurture-or-nature-a-question-of-breeding-20120113-1pzhn.html It was posted to my fb. They have closed the comments now, i guess it was getting too nasty...

Rottweiler Experts And Fans, Please Help
german_shep_fan replied to Agius's topic in General Dog Discussion
His markings are def Rottie like, as others have said he his head looks finer then alot of rotties although that could be due to his bloodlines, different bloodlines or types in a breed can produce dogs of the same breed who look very different. I am not an expert on Rotties, just an admirer of the breed so not sure if bloodlines can make a huge difference in this breed. Don't be bothered if ppl beat you up if you didn't get him from a reg breeder, as long as you love him for who he is, his looks are not the be all and end all anyway :) -
Oh geez, ok then Thanks for the info. Did your dobe survive?

I agree with this, my old girl had this and i rushed her to the emergency as i had never heard of it before. She held her head of one side and couldn't move it and kept falling over so i thought she had had a stroke. There are a few tell tale signs of Vestibular so if she has them the vet will know. Thinking of you and i hope there is a positive outcome.
