She is such a beautiful looking girl :) She looks quite similar to my Thea :)

After the wonderful article on Zac yesterday now this. Just what the breed needs with all the BSL crap going to atm. Irresponsible parents/owners, who lets their kids walk around with a dog unleashed and continually pick on other kids like that
-
There are also labs and retievers in that list you linked to, do you prejudice against them as well? I am sorry to hear what happened, but dog aggressive dogs are found in EVERY breed.
-
Yep the police shepherds are great ambassadors for this wonderful breed :) Here is Zac's write up in the Courier Mail today :) http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/zac-bears-the-scars-of-duty/story-fn6ck51p-1226274207448

Reasons Not To Own Your Breed
german_shep_fan replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is one well trained owner! 'I'll call you and if you don't come I'll call you again or else!! I'll call you again. Exactly, whilst i can see how this vid can be funny, it is also a classic example of being walked all over The comand 'come' obv means nothing to the dog, come to this dog means yep i can sit on the couch and back chat. Then when the dog finally did come over she is going reward the naughty behaviour? Sorry to sound like a stick in the mud, i have never owned a Husky and have heard they are hard to train but i would still not put up with that. -
Lol you cant buy an APBT from a registered breeder..... unfortunatly they are also illegal to breed.... I am aware of that and nowhere did I say they brought a pair of APBT! The dogs pictured look like the typical "pig dog" that is usually produced by ferals and bogans who live in that area. Ouch  Agreed Poochmad, its just bloody stupid!

+1 He was beautiful. Great post Nekhbet, great pics and enjoyed the vid too.

Here is the list of puppies in the CS narrowed down to Vic :) http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppies/cocker-spaniel.asp?state=VIC&Submit=Go

A great person to talk to about this would be Nekhbet on this forum :) In the early 1900's when the German Shepherd was formed they did somewhat resemble the Malinois but today you can clearly see the differences even by just looking at the links Flaves put up :) http://www.leabashiba.com/german_shepherd_dog_club_austral.htm http://www.dragongsd.com/TheGSDpage.html I found this link on the exact topic you are asking about although not sure how helpful it will be for you. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081106021513AAK5yAq Are you looking to purchase either a shepherd or mal or just curious? :)

Poor people. 7 month old innocent dogs who have done nothing wrong but unfortunately have an appearence that questionably resembles a pit. Bloody joke

There are differing opinions on that then. People are entitled to start a thread in the general if they wish. Sad that just ONE thread couldn't remain lighthearted and fun for a change... No, I won't be starting a new thread to respond to something said in this thread. That's not how it works. There was nothing light-hearted or fun about that large brown dog in the video. I didn't mean that, i meant that Bellackcs was entitled to start this thread in general... Others have also posted some nice pics of their dogs in this thread with some nice stories, even if one dog in Bella's vid was showing less then stella behaviour, others are still entitled to contribute in a nice way with their photos without being constantly educated about watching pits with other dogs ect, all things the responsible owners who post here know. If anyone else has any pics or stories of a more positive nature to post here then it would be lovely to see them. Otherwise maybe its time for it to die the usual DOL style death

As ppl acknowledged multiple times in this thread after it was brought up :) Hence why now it has been done and dusted most would just like to get back to a lighter sort of thead, the way it was started. I think everyone has had enough 'education' of what they already know for this one thread :) I agree Roguedog Edit - Bellackcs Just curious what dog park this is? Noticing the amount of water is all, our park is the same atm, only the slackarse council won't mow it so it is yuck at the bottom and overgrown at the top, last wk i couldn't even see my 5mnth old the grass was that long Then on the wkend good old 'can do' was promoting himself abt 100metres away. I felt like going up and telling him if he wanted my vote he needs to put a boot up local council to keep the public areas just a little bit neater then they currently are

My Dog Snapped At My Childs Face.

If he was a stray he may of been used to living inside in his previous house? Hopefully someone who is very knowledgeable about separation anxiety ect will be able to help you out :) P.S doesn't suprise me that your boy managed to fit through the door. When we were on holidays a few years ago my over 70cm 45kg shepherd managed to squeeze himself through the small to medium sized dog door to find us. I have no idea how he did it, must of squished himself down like a rat haha

Great pics :)

He is beautiful, they grow up too fast hey!

If someone starts a thread with the intention of being "yay!" about something, it's rude to come and rain on their parade just because you feel like it, regardless of what subforum it is in! I didn't rain on the OP's parade. She owns an 18 week old CKCS she's taking to the dog park. Some APBT fanciers took offence when I suggested that it might not be wise to assume that all APBTs would be so gentle with her pup. Was that so dreadful? Seriously, I had no idea it was not permitted to post any opinion you held on a discussion forum provided that you did so within forum rules. I must remember in future to only say positive and supportive things, even if I think what a person is doing is potentially going to see their dog in danger. My bad. Telida, I don't think anyone is upset about you warning people to be careful with their puppies around strange dogs. The Pit Bull has been totally screwed over and I'm sure you can understand how it's fanciers are upset by that. All we hear about is how evil they are, how one day they just snap and eat your whole family, they're all dog aggressive etc etc etc. It was just nice to have someone saying that their experience with the breed was all good. Simple as that. We all know what you have been saying and I guess most people are sick of hearing it. I hope you don't take offence, and of course you are entitled to your own opinion, it just gets frustrating when every thread about this breed goes that way. +1

I am sick of arguing with you and we are obv missing each others argument. I for one would love to get this particular discussion back on track. I hope you get sensible responses in your other post. Onya Gussy's mum

Then you must have missed this: Yep, that's a lot wrong with a dog. I'll give credit where credit is due. A breed bred to be able to be handled by people when highly aroused and to be able to withstand considerable pain is going to to be a good choice for families where kids can tend to roughhouse a dog.. and they do make great pets for folk for whom the dog park isn't a 'must do' with their dogs. fair enough. I still don't think pointing out the aggressive tendancies constantly was necessary is all, its done to death in the media and owners get sick of hearing it. I hope you get a good response to the new thread.

Then you can make the valid points in the new thread that TW has felt the need to make :) Charming. God forbid we actually acknowledge that no breed is perfect. Unless of course, its yours eh? I see little point in promoting purebred dogs unless a realistic and accurate picture is painted of breeds. Some of the points I've made in the other thread might help folk avoid making a poor choice or stop them wondering why a breeder knocked them back for a pup. But then, that would just be 'politics' now wouldn't it. ;) I will be the first to admit the GSD is not perfect :D But it was your tone of continually making a point of stating everything that was wrong with the APBT in this thread when all we wanted was a positive thread for a change. Most ppl here know every warning that comes with the APBT and thats why a nice thread about them was made for a change. God forbid there should be one here for ppl to enjoy as a one off and not just in the sub forums. I hope knowledgeable ppl with other breeds will contribute to your other thread.
