Wonderful, many thanks. My eldest has gotten the 'Rescue Bug' and is fostering for German Shepherd Rescue, they have been trying for a few days to try to get info from various vets in the area and have had problems. Did you do an introduction letter explaining the group and what it does? I know the one at Fadden requested this when we enquired (this may be why they are having a hard time).

I have had a call from Terah's new mum, she apparently doesn't like to eat unless someone is standing with her (rephrase that she won't eat), if you walk away then she will leave her food bowl as well. I didn't have this while she was with me. She has been with them now for about 10 days. Could this just be settling in ....????

Urgent Foster Care Needed By Friday

this is Perry's Mum's network this is coming through. 2 seniors for 6 months is a big ask. Can you remember who you spoke to dogmad? and yes the owner is prepared to cover costs to get the dogs to and from the foster. -
Urgent Foster Care Needed By Friday
Loreley posted a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
We have an emergency in Qld. This pair of aged Koolies require foster care before Friday. Their owner is going overseas on mission work. She had a care lined up but due to an accident can't take them. Her hopes would be to leave them with a carer for six months and then return. But she understands that if the right home were to be found then they would be placed. We require a foster for this special mission but failing that then a family who would be able to take both as they have been together for most of their lives. We would love them safely in a home by this Thursday. The lady is prepared to cover transport. These are her contact details and you can contact her directly if more info needed. 07 54480558, 0488567694. The email is her daughters [email protected]. -
I know what you mean. Seldom people on the front line are actually asked even though they are the ones the changes will directly affect, and also the perfect people who are in a position to know what is appropriate and what is not. My comment earlier was certainly not aimed at the pound staff, heavens no, we all know these silly sort of penny pinching measures are dreamt up by some bright spark further up the line that has nothing directly to do with the area concerned. How I wish it was different !
-
They have to run the pound somehow. Where I used to work it was around $20. That doesn't cover a skerrick of the cost of rehoming an animal. Your rates run the pound along with every other essential service like roads etc, it should be funded adequately to be able to run.
-
What a despicable act ! So your dog only deserves to be rehomed if you have the money to afford it? Seriously? People surrender for many reasons, but a lot do so due to financial strain, what a terrible position to put someone in. More reason to move animal welfare to the federal level where penny pinching doesn't affect who lives and who dies.

I watched this woman's 2 year old son approach Terah with such glee , they were eye to eye lol. Terah very very gently stuck out her tongue and gave him the gentlest kiss. It was the most beautiful thing I have seen, that was the point that I had decided that I needed to let her go. Oh yes she will definitely be taking a piece of my heart with her, but the relationship she will have with this child is something worth breaking my heart for. I couldn't wish for a better home for her.

Hi All OMG, Terah was my second foster, the first having failed and stayed with us. After 2 weeks of advertising with absolutely no nibbles, out of the blue came not one but two definite enquiries. We met a lovely family today with a young son who were just perfect. It broke my heart to say good bye, but I knew that she would be in the perfect place and deserves a chance to have that How can something feel so good and so bad at the same time I think hubby is fairing worse than me not sure if he would cope if we did this regularly poor softy

Martingale Collar - Do You Use It All The Time?
Loreley replied to Loreley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Great thanks, that's what I was thinking, so that will work well, 2 x syn teks (one for each puppy) and a Martingale that can be used by either -
I need to get Terah a new collar and I'm looking at a Martingale, just wondering if you use this as a normal day collar or only when you're out and about. It might seem a silly question, but really isn't if you think about it. :D I'm tossing up between a Syn tek and a Martingale from K-9 and was wondering which one would be better or whether I should use the Syn tek flat as an everyday and the Martingale just for training. What do you think?

She's actually not too bad on the pulling now that she's had time to settle, I will be picking up a smaller martingale hopefully tomorrow, the one I have is too big for her. There is no way she is 2 years old though. Still doing the puppy thing chewing stuff and digging holes and still sucks on your fingers. I recon she would have been lucky to be 6 months when they picked her up to be honest which would make her 12 months now.
-
Might need a bigger bed though
-
yes- and lots of new things/training will probably do their work in helping keep her settled. What do you know about her? Why has she been so long at the shelter? The shelter really has no idea, she is sweet and gentle and trains easily the only thing I can see is maybe her size but at 25kgs she's really not that big, about the size of a rough collie.
-
All I know is that she was picked up wandering in Shellharbour and was transferred to the Sydney shelter because they thought she would have a better chance of being placed. The only thing that I can see that has stopped her being placed is her size.
-
Ok so here's the only photo I have of her, they had a couple of others on the site but have pulled them down.

yeah yeah I know, I'm trying alright. How do you upload photos?
