  1. My failed foster Loki, would have to be one of the most beautiful dogs I have ever seen. We fell in love the moment I set eyes on her not so flattering photo on the Renbury site. to now They are definitely harder to photograph, its hard to capture their true beauty I think.
  2. the rotti is the OHs so even if she can get the lab sorted. I presume they are vaccinated. I have put the word out to my contacts in RSPCA in NSW to see if they might have any carers available (though I doubt it given the time of year). But fingers crossed it looks like we might have a carer locally.
  3. would they likely do it for free mixedpup? she just doesn't have the $400plus a week at the moment.
  4. Hi All I know its a big ask but a lady I know has had to go into a refuge and her two beautiful dogs are now at risk. They are currently being temporarily being boarded by a lovely person at a kennel somewhere but have to move as they are now full. RSPCA are full so cannot board them either. I don't know where else she can turn Dog's breeds are Lab and the other is a rotti. If anyone can help even with temporary boarding that would certainly ease this poor woman's burden at this low point in her life. If you can assist, please PM me asap. Many thanks
  5. it could however, open the door for RSPCA or similar org to setup shop in the area and take over as an outsourced arrangement like a lot of areas in the rural districts have. In theory better resourced?
  6. thanks Nina much appreciated. any info is better than none :)
  7. Re the location, sorry to be honest didn't even think about putting this in general Admin please move if you think it would be better in General. Der just realised it had already been moved
  8. I have had an ongoing great relationship with RSPCA NSW, I have found the trick is to go above the shelter level to the Area Manager. This happened with me quite by accident initially because the lass I spoke to about a dog they had wasn't sure what the protocol was with rescues. I now have NSW and QLD area managers contact details and they are incredibly helpful. The dog I took into care was released free of charge, though initially I was asked to make a donation, which was waived even though i was happy to pay it, and came with a coat and collar because she was going from Sydney to Canberra (and they were gobsmacked that someone would drive 3 hours each way to do this, even though this is what we normally do). The second dog, they even managed to arrange a freebie transport to get the dog from Sydney down to Melbourne with their usual carrier because he was not coping and was an older dog so would probably have a longer wait). The last one I had involved QLD, the dog was in Townsville unfortunately we couldn't get all the ducks in a row but because she came to the Area Manager's notice she was moved down to Brisbane and got herself adopted within a week or two - so a win regardless. The impression from upper management in the RSPCA at least in NSW and QLD they are very keen to move this closer working relationship with the rescue groups forward because it is a win win for everyone, particularly the animals. Unfortunately each state is its own organisation because of the legislation differs from state to state, but they do network heavily behind the scenes. There is progress, and with goodwill on both sides I can see this moving forward quickly. Once one state shows that the system works, those that lag a little behind can be coerced with a little help from our friends on the inside. I am yet to have any contact with the new Manager in ACT, will be interesting to see what happens when this happens. If anyone is having problems dealing with NSW and QLD, give me a yell and I will pass on the contact details for them.
  9. There was a load of 10 kittens that came from Griffith, 2 were dropped off here in Canberra and the rest I believe were headed to Melbourne. I am currently caring for the 2 here in Canberra. Do anyone know whether these 2 were siblings? The little girl is blue tortie, the boy is ginger and white. Any other info on their circumstances please.

  13. I suppose at the very least it is a start, it is enforceable, now all they need to do is accually add the removal of puppy & kitten farms & give TAMS the money and staff to properly police it and we'll be all set
  14. couldn't the rspca assist with respite care, it would be dreadful not only to lose your home but your beloved pet as well
  15. These guys are legal eagles and can assist on the legal side, most of the time for free. A lot of their work involves issues with councils, rangers & rspca overstepping their grounds and generally being unhelpful. Give them a call. Ana is a wonderful lady, she has a number of failed fosters herself. Hope it helps Anastasia Smietanka National Co-ordinator Barristers Animal Welfare Panel M: 0438 8490 38 [email protected]
  16. following vet's advice, but to be honest the vet should have tested him for the german shep issue by now when nothing else was working. i'm not impressed. the RC is good an most of the time he is ok now. it could also have been the fact that he was digging up potatoes in the garden and having a feast when they first moved into the new house, that and green tomatoes
  17. not sure what his energy levels would be, I know goldens are pretty easy going, unsure about the Samoyed energy wise. Fingers crossed that there is someone out there that is prepared for the long haul. Poor baby, some people really have no right to own dogs. And so they are taking the other two dogs and I can almost guarantee they will breed those again. I can't see any reason stairs would be an obstacle as long as they approach training him correctly. The cynic in me is saying all the other pups were sold easily and they are 'moving' in an attempt to offload.
