Hello as the title reads, I'm after some advice about my bitch. Her last season was 9 months ago back in April 2013, she has just turned 2 in November. Was planning on breeding her this next season (but she knows! Lol) Should I be worried yet? I am just assuming she is going to be one of those bitches who cycles once a year. Her 2 previous seasons were (first) Sept 2012 and then April 7 months after. What are your experiences (if any) Thanks for your time

My friend paid $370 for hips and elbows here in Adelaide... sounds like the vet is doing a rip off!

Dry Food For My British Bulldog Pup!
JessicaM replied to samanthony23's topic in General Dog Discussion
Always ask the breeder what they reccomend, I have a gsd pup who is fed on supercoat which is what her breeder wants her fed on. My papillon has been fed on royal canin and advance, along with meat, mince and bones -
I agree with with your post, not everyone knows about dogzonline and if they are looking for a dog they will most likely look in newspapers or online. That is where people will be looking and searching. I think it is disgusting how breeders CAN be quick to judge others for advertising on gumtree or a trading post add. My mum bought a GSD who is pedigree through a new paper add, I would have never become involved in the pedigree world if she didn't advertise, I just didn't know.

New GSD going to have some fun with her and hopefully some wins along the way! :)

Have not bred a litter but my friend has a lovely bitch shepherd who had a litter and has ba hernia. She had 5 pups, was gentle with their placentas and birth and none have had any hernias. She has recently had 2 litters of pups, complete different bitches, 1 was quite rough with the placentas and was tugging etc, 2 out of 5 pups had small hernias. Her previous litter had none as far as I know... I'd say it can be hereditary but more often caused from the bitch being rough... good luck

You're doing a good job, you are learning what your doing wrong and eventually you will learn how to correct them. Thats why I add vinegar to the spray bottle hahah they dont like the taste or smell. Yes by the sounds of her getting a treat and doing it again I would say she has learnt by doing bad things she gets attention... sounds like she is too smart and really pressing your buttons. I dont reward for jumping straight away, I push her down, usually with my knee, growl and PRAISE her with pats only when she sits at my feet for more than 10 seconds. Mia is very smart and knows what she needs to do. I usually repeat this process a few times until she just sits at my feet, calm and waits. You may need to have a toy in your hand and (might be good to have her on a leash) practice practice practice until she learns jumping is NOT acceptable. I would deffinantly be waiting longer to reward her, so she can understand sit is rewarded and jumping just gets her yelled at. This will hopefully be useful to you as some training, furthermore she will not learn perfect straight away. Expect to see results within a week. (Y)

Fantastic I think I might even buy a female too, I might need to buy a male pap and I can AI the bitch, imagine the big fluffy papillon ears and a long silky white coat on your breed wow the public will go crazy! Hope they behave themselves when I am working well if they dont work out I can always use it as a stud and sell it via gumtree, im sure I will be able to find it a loving home with a lovely family and lots of yard to romp and play!

I'll add my 2 cents opinion too. I have a 11.5 week german shepherd puppy, she is full on and I also have a small papillon which is a toy dog. Mia has been with me since 8 weeks, we went away on holiday for 1 week and continued our training. Mia used to bite which is NOT acceptable, I grabbed her snout instantly when she did it and pushed her to the floor and growled and yelled NO! Enough to worry her, I am so firm with puppys because I do not want it to escalade... I only had to do this several times and she has not done it since. The only reason I am this firm on her is her personality I can be 'mean' to her and she wont get scared of me. It is hard to explain but your pup sounds FULL ON you need to assert you dominace with it. I do the same thing when she jumps on me and grabs items she shouldn't have. (She gives the items to me now but after a week of being super firm with her) My pup lives outside most of the day and the first nights she cried and and screamed so I squirt a water bottle of water and vinegar at her, it works so well when she is naughty. Wish you the best

Can I get a long haired male? I have a papillon bitch and I'd love to create a NEW breed with one of the boys. But I want to keep the long coats but I want the hunting and working ability too! Do you think it will be ok in my surburban yard? I work split shifts but I can walk it every few days on my day off... My neighbors won't mind I don't think... and my landlord doesn't like dogs but once I breed I'll move places. Can I send you a deposit via Western Union payments? I'd like it delivered in 2.5 weeks so I can afford the rest. If your interested in my new breed we can work something out.

I'd love to know more about this dna test! Please feel free to PM about this, one of my dogs had fleas and had a reaction and lost alot of black fur on his back and has always had sensitive skin, any way this test could help me out with what supplements to help him?

Yeah and I'm still waiting... nothing so far I had it all planned and hoping before work became busy (as i need to drive interstate) but no she hasn't come in yet. What a bitch lol but keeping my fingers crossed! ★★

What about a german shepherd? Maybe an older one if they dont want to deal with a pup... lol like me going through the destruction age haha. They are very loyal dogs and happy to be at your feet or relax and do their own thing. I'm sure you'll get lots of advice from others, I was also thinking their coat might be better than a poodle or similar ie. From grass seeds and burrs, finding a dog that will suit their lifestyle

Hello all, first thanks for reading and I would appreciate ANY help or advice. I live in south australia and I have an 8 year old papillon. In the last 2 years she has had her back left patella pop in and out, nothing severe to cause her any pain or discomfort. She is a byb pup (mind you I was 13 when I got her and didnt know about proper breeders...) She has never gone under before, she hasn't been desexed but I wanted to get it done soon in case it results in pyro or something. Anyway she is in good health fit and healthy but lately her knee seems to have gotten worse, I think it is getting to the point it will start to cause her pain. Mind you she runs and jumps on the couches and beds. I want to take her to a vet for patella checking and possibly getting her desexed at the same time? I also would like her teeth done soon. She may need some minor cleaning with a few out. Can anyone give me approx prices I would be looking at for patellas, and teeth cleaning? And reccomend any vets? Any advice you can give me about my situation? She is 8 now so her lifespan is approx 14 years, I want her to be mobile and happy without pain which could be expected in the next few years (when her knee deteriorates) Personal messages welcome, she is an active, tough little thing. Thank you for your time, P.s I do not want anyone whinging about her not being desexed when she was younger etc, :-)

I have used ASAP testing for vWD and I had to ask twice for the swabs to be sent out, first ones never came (although alot if my mail goes missing) the lady was lovely on the phone. The test was easy and lots of information was given with it. I sent the swabs off and had to wait about 6 weeks for the results, I did call a few times as I hadn't heard anything. I got the results via email but they had spelt my bitches name wrong! Called them up the same day i got the results and asked if they could change her name on the results... never got an email back. It was only one letter so I haven't rang since to get it sorted...

One of my friends who is a long term gsd breeder just recently had a litter of pups, one of the pups was a swimmer and had a terrible flat chest. She has never heard of or had a swimmer pup before so her vet reccomended the pup to be pts. I urged her to work on him and it will correct itself, he is now 9 weeks old and you wouldn't have known. Her pups usually sleep on a flat surface but after this issue she put carpet and egg shell foam as their bedding. Deffinantly worth investing in! Good luck

Just joined was hoping to be listed in this month but my girl hasn't come in yet...

I see you have picked your dogs out but I wanted to suggest a papillon, they are awesome smaller dogs but their sizes can range from 2.5kg to 6kgs. They are very loyal and clever, they are happy to be snoozing on the couch with you or a daily walk would do fine. I have 3 and they are the sweetest dogs and nothing can stop them from being happy! They do not require clippung like the terriers but a quick brush every few days. They do not eat very much and shed their coat twice a year (summer and winter coat change) mind you all dogs will lose abit of fur anyway. They do not have a doggy smell and I cannot reccomended them enough lol I'm not biased because I own them.... I have a family friend who strongly dislikes smaller dogs, she has had german shepherds all her life but she loves this breed and they melt her heart lol. Good luck (y)

My breed are papillons but I have a friend who breeds the 'old style' shepherds. Big, strong and amazing temperaments (lovely croups, and firm hocks which they can move better), I have been going along side shows with her and learning about the breed for 6 months now... I love this breed and yes you won't find very many 'nice' shepherds... but they still exist lol

Just lately I have been trying to put a bit of weight on my pap... she is fussy with food which doesn't help but she has put the weight on. I swapped her dry to 'junior' royal canine... it has more protein and fat than the adult choice. 31% protein and 20% fat. Also chicken wings, necks and lamb
