Or a 12 hour whelping during the night, breech births & a trip to an emergency Vet at 2am to get puppy formula to feed the puppies, because the mother doesn't want to know the puppies she's had, while she is still pushing out the others. Then the 2 hour feeds for the runts of the litter, who are too small to compete with the bigger stronger pups. Sorry but i find this sort of attitude disgusting. It won't be the poor dogs fault she is being used to get "$200" a pup out of. You wouldn't wish it on dogs of registered breeders so what makes it any different for this dog? It must be devastating for things to go so wrong, something i wouldn't wish on any breeding dog, Registered or not. OP I doubt you will change their mind, all you can do is hope that for the bitch's sake everything goes smoothly and they are able to find them nice homes. There will always be byb and no amount of whinging here will change it. Exactly right German Shep Fan. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Two Black Dogs, I'm with Woolies pet insurance for my 1 year old Golden Retriever boy and found they were the best value and covered all the things I need. I pay around $32 a month for accident and illness (didn't bother with paying an extra $12 or so for routine care as you can only claim back $50 a year which isn't worth it IMO) and also pay no excess. They pay out up to 80%. Haven't had to claim yet (touch wood) but I didn't take it out until my boy was 10 months, and the only thing he had before that was an ear infection that I guess will now forever exclude anything to do with his right ear, but they said if it stays away for more than 6 months then it may no longer count as a pre-existing issue. Woolworths and Real pet insurance were recommended the most to me by family and friends who are pet owners and have had very good experiences with them. Woolies flexible payment plans and what they covered and not having to pay excess just suited me more than Real but they both looked good. Just remember even if you do choose Woolies but find something else shortly after, there's a 14 day cooling period where you can cancel and receive refund for anything you've paid (as long as you haven't claimed for accidents). Hope that helps!

I'm so sorry to hear Penumbra. Just know that there is now no more pain and he will be running free and doing all his favourite things. He'll be waiting for you too when it's your time. 14 years is a great life for a Great Dane - I'm sure he was in the best of hands and that you made the right decision. Take care of yourself and my thoughts are with you.

A mobile vet might still need to transport the dog somewhere in order to do x-rays or other tests, but you could always give them a call and see what options there are. I hope everything turns out okay and whatever the problem is can be treated.

Definitely sounds like a broken bone if the foot is floppy. Please tell your friend to take his/her dog to the vet ASAP. The poor dog is probably in a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort, especially if he cannot even move to toilet himself. He needs to see a vet ASAP.

I feed Chase, my 14 week Golden, a raw diet and sometimes finds he is not enthusiastic about pieces that have bones it in either. To keep up his calcium, I get some ground bone mince from the butcher for about $2 per kilo. It's basically just minced chicken meat with a ground up chicken carcus. Some butchers will do it for you while you wait, depending how fine you want it ground I mix some fruit and veg in mine then divide into servings and freeze the portions until I need them. Maybe Indy will like it too but i guess that's kind of similar to the BARF diet. You could try getting some fresh mince meat that he likes amd purchasing ground bone on its own separately and mix them together? Good luck

What Papers Should Come With A Purebred Puppy?
Fiasco replied to Fiasco's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks everyone for clearing it all up for me. Makes sense now and I'll wait for the first couple of weeks in January to see if I've received anything or if the breeder is back from vacation. The form I signed on "puppy picking day" was definitely the one you showed me Mystiqview, thank you for that And Tailen, Arty looks SO cute in your profile pic! And your cat on the far right in your banner looks exactly like my cat Nala! -

I don't mind you asking at all! When I was searching for a reputable breeder to get my pup, I found that A LOT of Golden Retriever breeders were breeding light/cream goldens. I prefer the really gold colour coats (that's why they're called "Golden" Retriever after all!). I am not sure if Chase has American Lines in him, though I have seen some American ones - I believe they call them 'red' in colour (similar to a Ridgeback's colour almost). I was quite lucky to get the darkest of the litter as his littermates were a bit lighter than him. His mother was a light honey but his father was a really nice rich golden. That being said, there are a couple of really cream goldens at my local dog park who look beautiful, but people often ask what breed they are as they do not have that typical 'golden' coat. The breeder told me that he will get a bit darker as he gets older, can any other goldie owners confirm? He is currently 11 weeks and haven't yet seen any noticeable colour changes in his coat (had him since 8 weeks). -

Wow, thanks Goldenwei and Talien for your fast replies. That's certainly cleared things up for me. Goldenwei, the form I filled out was not orange but I'm certain was a change of ownership form that may have been a photocopy. I faxed it to the number that was on the form and it did contain his microchip number on it. I have just had a look at Chase's sales contract and it says that the breeder is indeed responsible for forwarding the Pedigree papers - sorry I didn't look closely the first time! It also says that they are responsible for forwarding certificate of registration - again, separate from council registration? -
Hi everyone! Just have a question regarding what papers or documents should come from a registered breeder. I have recently (about 2 weeks ago) picked up my purebred Golden Retriever pup from a registered breeder in Brisbane (pic's to follow, I promise!) and only received his worming and vaccination records and a change of ownership form that was presigned by the breeder. Was I supposed to receive pedigree papers with him as well? On the day I went to choose which pup I wanted, the breeder had me sign something but I can't, for the life of me, EXACTLY recall what it was (too excited to meet and pick out my pup!). Could someone please tell me what the appropriate documentation a purebred pup should come with when buying from a registered breeder? Please forgive my ignorance on this, I have never bought from a registered breeder before, only ever had rescue dogs so this is a new experience for me. The pup was also given on a limited register which I understand the conditions of, but is that something different to actually registering your pup with the council? Do I need to do this separately? Sorry for the confusion. I have tried to contact my breeder regarding all this but she is away on holidays at the moment and her friend who is dog-sitting for her was not able to answer my questions. Thanks in advance for all your time

Hi cassie! Thank you (and everyone else so far)so much for your suggestions and advice. You're right about giving them a call instead - I'll definitely do that during the week. I did notice a lot of other breeders that are interstate - I just wasn't sure what the process was of buying interstate and transportation, etc. Will look into that too Thanks so much!

Hi everyone! New to the forum here but just wondering whether anyone would be able to help me out or point me in the right direction. Not entirely sure whether this post belongs in this topic either, so please forgive me if it doesn't... I'm looking for any information regarding Bernese Mountain Dog Breeders within Brisbane or surrounding areas (happy to travel a few hours out of Brissy via road if needed). I've done plenty of searches for Breeders within these areas and only seem to be coming across the one: Ziegen in Toowoomba. A very reputable breeder indeed however my emails have gone unanswered I'm looking for a family pup, no intention to breed or show; just an all-round family dog. Any information on anyone who may have Bernese litters or any other breeders that I missed would be much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance for your time.
