Some of you may recall me posting about Marz when he was only a few months old. I have grown less and less concerned about his appearance as he has grown into a beautiful, athletic dog and i could not be happier. I have learnt that purity generally comes in paper form however this is not what i am asking. Paper aside what are peoples thoughts now that he is 13 months. Is he looking more like an am-staff or can people see something else in him? Really appreciate the responses it is fascinating to me! thanks again

As for the ridge he didn't have it at a young age, all i have noticed as of now is that there is thicker/darker hair in the shape of a ridge developing on his spine which wasnt obvious beforehand. As for not being able to understand why people by dogs without 'proof of heritage'. Its quite simply because some people appreciate dogs for what they are rather than what they are proven to be. Not only that but not everyone has the money to spend on such expensive pups. Thanks to everyone for the help it has cleared everything up for me.

Interestingly enough i noticed he is growing thicker/longer hair towards the back of his spine. Might be a sign of ridge.

Thats what i meant, pure bread, from the bakery. My browser auto-corrects my words, kind of like an iphone just not as potentially damaging. I payed 300 w/out papers for those who are concerned. No i didnt ask to see papers, registration, licence, road worthy. That was not my intention because i was buying without. I think i get the jist of what everyone is saying, ill just have to put up with it, at the end of the day he is still my dog and at least his not ugly. Oh and the reason i know the father is the father is because ive seen pictures of the parents 'engaging'. Dont ask me how the owner is a bit strange. And i did see the other pups there were four all up. One black, one white, one tan, and one tan and white. Regards

I must be having trouble comparing. Maybe because i cant liken him to any other breed. To be honest when he straight with ears pricked forward i am blown away by his look but i cant seem to find a suitable breed for comparison.

That is true i was looking at some pictures and i find it hard to find resemblance, apart from the colour. Also thank you for that breed standard guide it was very helpful. In fact the only thing i could not match was the snout length as it stipulates medium but i personally think his is medium to long.

Well i must say i appreciate all those who answered my question directly. To those who could not help but lecture me on the ins and outs of buying with papers, thank you also, you have merely reiterated what i already knew. To those who think i was ripped off, the purchase was not based on assumption. I knew what i was getting. What im trying to investigate is what he could have in him just so i know. And to be perfectly honest i know little about pure bread staffs, or even pure bread dogs for that matter. Pure bread to me is a staff that looks like most other staffs. But as some people have pointed out it also has plenty to do with fur texture, length, stance etc, something which i did not know. I do see features that are common with other staffys but then again some are not, mainly the length of his snout. As for zeus, im glad some people have mentioned that he is cross. I definitely felt that way myself, although if you see him in real life you will be blown away by his physique, that was him at 5 months. But i definitely think his ears and and mouth are a dead giveaway. Thanks to all, i appreciate it. I would like to know more about purebred features if someone could help me. Regards

Hi, Ive been reading this forum for some time and have decided to sign up and ask for some advice. Ive purchased a dog from a breeder as a pure amstaff. I have seen the both the mum and the dad. The mum had very authentic colouring, tan w/white chest however seemed a little short. Though her build was good. The dad on the other hand was about 45 kg's, red w/white chest, tall, slightly underbuilt with a longer narrow snout. Now i wont comment too much on the build as it sometimes comes down to exercise however the puppy did look very appealing in the pictures. Now the puppy looked good, however it was a difficult situation as we had driven several hours to this property and my partner had fallen in love at first sight being the softy she is. The pup was sold without papers but the dad had a ped and was apparently a $1700 dog. Raising the dog ive noticed he seems to have the right build, and definitely looks like a staff from the front but he seems to have a slightly longer snout than he should? It's not so much worrying because i love the dog all the same, i just really want to be confident when i tell others what breed he is. Pictures I just cant help but compare to another amstaff, Zeus, who i took care of for several months as a pup. Different breed or different bloodline? Regards Jacob
