I haven't cried victim, Nekhbet. I was just detailing my experience. You're right - there may have been something else at play, but it wasn't until I mentioned that we were gay that she failed to make any further contact. Food for thought.

Straying into OT here but..... IF the OP was discriminated against due to his sexuality then yes it is homophobia. While someone can 'not agree' with another person being gay (what the heck does that mean anyway, like there is anything to agree about - it's not like it's up for discussion  ) but as soon as that person acts on their prejudice then it certainly is homophobia. AMEN! /religious reference unintended/

Thanks for that. We live in Chippendale, so will definitely check it out once he's old enough

Hi all, This is a bit of a left wing post, but I'm a little pissed off at the ignorance of some people. I was in contact with a breeder last week; emailing back and forth and everything was going really well until she realised that my partner was a he. As soon as this was mentioned, she failed to respoond to any of my emails.. What difference does it make that two gay men want to adopt a puppy? Is she offended that we might provide too much of a loving home for one? My boyfriend and I have been considering getting a puppy for a long time now and it was a bit disheartening that someone would shun us for being gay. I'm not going to name and shame, but I'm sure there are others out there who have been in this situation and I thought I'd put a voice to it. But every cloud has it's silver lining - on Friday night we found a beautiful almost 4 week old long mini dachie. We met him, his brother and mother on Saturday morning and will be picking him up in 4 weeks. This is our boy, Alwyn:

His mother is black and his father brown, so he has come out this beautiful chocolate colour. We were so lucky to get him!!

Thanks!! I don't know how we're going to wait 4 weeks. We just want him home already!! We drove up to Newcastle yesterday to meet the breeder and I have never felt happier in my life - you won't want to leave!!

Help Needed: Looking For Mini Dachshund Pup Breeders

I have read that they can be quit loud, but as far as I'm aware, this can be fixed with some training. We will be putting him/her through obedience school and when we're home (I work a 9 to 5 and my partner is a student) he/she will have plenty of attention. Is this an incorrect assumption? The more info the better I had a mini and she was not loud or barky. She would alert to strangers (before she went deaf). So they are not ALL noisy. They are great little dogs. I lost mine a week before her 20th birthday. Thanks for the info. I've also read that the long haired minis are quieter than the smooth - do you know if that is true? -

Hi all, I decided to join this forum because my partner and I have been thinking about adopting a pup for a while now and I think we've narrowed down our choice of canine to the mini dachshund. We live in a one bedroom apartment in Sydney, across the road from a very large park and surrounded by many others. Our apartment is not huge, but is spacious enough to provide a comfortable home for a small dog. I like to keep active, so I would be walking him every day. I've been doing my research on the breed and it sounds like a mini dachs would be perfect for us. I've had a look at the breeder listings on the site, but it doesn't look like there are too many pups around at the moment. We are looking for a smooth haired chocolate mini dachshund or a smooth haired chocolate dapple mini dachshund, but I haven't seemed to have much luck in finding a breeder. Does anyone know of a reputable breeder in Sydney/NSW? As much research as I've done, you can never know enough, so if anyone has any information that they feel would be beneficial, please share. Any help would be great. Anthony
