Depending on price and date I would be intrested. We travel back to canberra once monthly :) -
thank you everyone. some great advice here, i appreciate it. little gifts, we talk to spud with everything. my hubby commented the other day that i cant seem to speak to him unless im doing it in full sentences LOL Dyzney with the back yard thing, i mean i find it weird - if not a little offensive haha that he would rather be outside by him self then inside with us lol. also, our yard is one acre so he is not limited for space. Mini max thats where the whole give him a treat thing before i go started. it used to really upset me when i would drive away for the day and he would sit at the gate and watch me so i started to give him his daily treat as i was leaving in the hope that it would distract him. i think it worked maybe twice and ever since then he doesnt really care about treats or toys. ( during this time - any other time he loves his surprises) he is always very chilled and relaxed when i get home. thanks again for your replies :)

oh poo... so by including him is sooo much we have accidently done this to him i will start to chnage our morning routine, maybe go out to feed everyone without him and stuff like that. i will also try the sneaky tactic. his favourite part of the day is when he gets to go outside the yard and play so it will be hard ( but necissary ) on my behalf to leave him in the yard because i know how much he loves this. problem is the little poop doesnt have any FAVOURITE treats, he likes all his food treats but will happily ignore them if it means he gets to go out side the yard. and i only have one exit from him. its weird though, when we are home in the afternoons he doesnt want to be with us.... he just LOVES being outside. i practiccaly have to drag him inside to go to bed at night. we are working on his re call problems as if he is outside he would much prefer to stay there rather then come inside when we call him. he is certianly not a ' have a snooze on the couch while we watch tv' kind of dog. i was planning on doing some agility classes with him - we have done puppy and adult classes and he just loves them so much that i though he might like agility as well.

thank you aussie3. when he first started this i would hesitate in the car and wave to him.... sounds silly i know lol. now i try not to even look back, just get in the car and go go go ( have been ignoring him for around 6 months now) we are rural so have not heard anything from neighbours. we have a few people drive in and out to get to different paddocks on our place and they have to drive past our yard, they always say if they are in the paddock and he can see them that ' he is a very good guard dog untill they say his name' i guess this means he barks at them ? when i Get home of an afternoon I get none of this behaviour though, he will see the car and come out side sit on the grass ( from the patio) and watch me, has a stretch , bit of a roll and then just watches me until I get to the gate, then he will run over to greet me.

Hi everyone. Looking for opinions on what my little man is doing. I think I already know but just want to know others thoughts. Our little Jack Russell comes everywhere with my hubby and I, we are a family of 3 and he is included in everything possible. On the weekends he comes with us to the tip, we go to the river, the beach etc. we also travel back to our home town ( 8 hour drive) at least once monthly and he comes as well – he loves the car and is the first one to jump in ANY car if he sees a door open. Now every morning we have a routine. Just before I go to work spud and I go feed the chooks and the other animals – he waits at our gate religiously for this time as he runs crazy through the hay sheds and paddocks looking for rabbits. Afterwards we go back to the back yard, he gets his food for the day and his treat ( food, a toy, rawhide, what ever I have on me really). The problem comes that AS SOON as he sees me get in the car he goes mad. Runs up and down the fence line barking his crazy little head off desperately trying to get out. We have a very long driveway and from what I can tell, he barks until my car is on the main road and out of his vision. My theory on it is he is trying to remind me that I have forgotten him…. I know that sounds silly but its really what it looks like to me. Does anyone have any ideas on what his motives are and what I can do to stop this behaviour? Thank you!

Bitten By A Snake... Waiting For The Vets To Call :(
miss2 replied to miss2's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have been worried about leaving spud home alone whilst we are at work and my mum made the comment that I couldn’t wrap him in cotton wool to protect him… So I have done the next best thing and wrapped him in bubble wrap he was none to impressed hehe. Ps – it was only for 2 mins and then I took it off and we were in the air con. -
Colliechaos your boy is stunning :)

Thanks greytmate! Yep I meant treatment as in the sunscreen I'm just a bit reluctant to put it round his eyes
-
I’m also interested as to how to treat this. When we first got spud at 8 weeks he had minimal pigment on his nose. Now at nearly 1 year it was darkened up significantly but I still get worried about around his eyes and his pink skin in general! The pics show his nose and face as a baby and the difference in it now ( excuse the muddy look lol )

Raz, the test you are talking about, is that the one that they could have done prior to giving him the AV? either way i dont mind, just so incredibly grateful we have our little man back. we are rural and our paddocks had flooded with all the recent rain so i would say thats why he was up around the house, the river at the back of our property also flooded. now whats just happened to me this morning at work is well, a little spooky... i was struck by a baby brown!!! didnt even see it untill i was nearly on top of it, it hissed and then had a strike at my leg, luckily he was small so he fell short of reaching me. seriously though im a little freaked ,,, think the snakes are stalking me - 2 in 3 days... i want to run home to spud. oh and its fair to say i pooped my self lol can laugh about it now but i was NOT laughing at the time. here is the link to spuds photo thread in case anyone wants a look at the little dog that is behind my rising blood pressure lol http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/245599-spud/ -
Bitten By A Snake... Waiting For The Vets To Call :(

It was a black snake- hubby saw it and saw spud chase it. It's still in our garage as the snake catcher could not get it. It has wedged it's self under the concrete floor through a hole on the side Teela, he didn't see him get bitten but saw him run at it ( before he realized what it was) , heard spud scream and saw him back up so fast he fell over. The vet said we may never know if he was bitten. I'm a bit worried about him. When I picked him up he was incredibly happy to see me, could not keep him still but since being home he seems a little ... Well depressed..? -

Thanks again everyone, having kind words makes things a bit easier. He's home now and happy. He was crazy happy when I picked him up, the vets said he chewed 2 drip things out of his leg lol I have never been so happy to be able to cuddle my little man, hubby even had me bring him to him at work on our way home! We made the right decision and the vet said the best thing was that we got him there as soon as we did. They didn't give me any ABs? I might ask them about it tomorrow. Thank you thank you thank you again for your thoughts and positive hope- I have my little man back and I couldn't ask for anything more! -

That's why I'm a little concerned, that they didn't do any tests first to check... In saying that I'm not by any means a vet but I did think it was protocol. It was a black, bloody thing is still wedged in the garage. I'm waiting on the snake catcher to arrive -

Thank you everyone. I have every appendage possible crossed. I thought they did tests as well but apparently not....well at least not today -
Other half called and said our boy has been by a snake. Whilst he didn't see spud get bitten he saw the snake, saw spud have a go at it and heard him yelp. We have rushed him to the vet. The vet can not see any signs of a bite but they said they can be invisible to the naked eye. The vet said if we don't treat him and he has been bitten then he will most likely die. I asked about Side affects of the anti venom and what could happen if he has not been bitten, he said there's a chance he will have a reaction and die.... Hardest decision of our lives. Have opted for treatment, hope we have done the right thing... Words can not describe how much we love this dog
