  1. EVERYTHING!! lol i love every little thing about him but if i had to say one thing it would be how happy he makes me, lol sad i know haha
  2. I came across this mentioned in an ad for pups today ( not on DOL ) and am not sure what it means? I have googled and been to the site but I still can’t find any information about what the particular association means.... i am guessing not registered with a canine council? Can anyone enlighten me please? :)
  3. It's a bursting kind of excitment/happiness and loving the idea of the treat. But part of the dog wants this treat safe secure and not touched because maybe there might never be another treat. 'And Momma, help me safeguard the treat... oh boy, a treat, I got a treat.' I am sure you known that delightful JRT frenzy of enjoyment. :D good to know hes not the only crazy boy thank you. its funny coz he gets a " little something " every week and every week he does the same thing. towel might be a good idea. :) sigh, the crazy antics of a JRT, god love em!
  4. mmmmm good frustration i'm hoping lol
  5. hi everyone. my little jack Russell always cries when I give him a chew treat. He seems to do it more with raw hide but has been known to do it with anything. I give him the treat, he gets all excited, does a couple laps of zoomies and then starts crying... he walks around the house and im sure he is looking for somewhere to bury it but I don’t understand the crying bit. Would it be frustration of not knowing where to bury it? he will often come and stand at my feet with it in his mouth whinging and crying to me but will not drop the treat lol Any ideas? ps - sorry if this is in the wrong section
  6. they look so warm 4 pups :) BC Crazy, they wouldn't allow it any other way ;)
  7. thanks guys, they are very spoilt lol but, there’s no point in having them if you aren’t going to spoil them :) it cracks me up the positions they get into
  8. and some more, makes me wish i was at home in bed lol
  9. We have had some super cold weather in Canberra lately, just wanted to pop up a few pics of how my ratbags keep warm lol Anyone else want to share stories or pics of your pups keeping warm? :)
  10. My little poop head loves the car. One day I had a flat car battery and the NRMA came out to fix it for me. We were living rural and had a very long driveway, approx 2ks. After a little while the car is all fixed and he off he drives. I’m watching him drive away and see him halfway down the driveway, slam on the brakes and start reversing back to the house. He opens his door, walks around to the back cabin of the car, opens the door and asks me “ is this yours?” Inside I see a smiley waggy spud super happy for his 30 second car ride. The guy said he frightened the poop outta him when this white fluffy head popped up in the middle of the seats and smiled at him LOL Whoopsies!!
  11. Love Steves stuff! i have done a few of his courses now through work, such an awesome guy as well :)
  12. Pheebs we are in the same situation, hubby and I just bought and moved in last week. i know what spuds barking can be like so on Sunday I went over to my direct neighbour with spud to introduce our selves. I made it very clear to her that if his barking is becoming a problem to please let me know and I will do my best to sort it. She has lived in the street for 25 years so knows everyone else and gave me the run down on the rest of the street lol I get the feeling it’s going to be worth while to keep her on side lol
  13. I will also send her the link for that bc pup I am cranky at them for giving up after one breeder but as I said, it comes down to an element of laziness. Fingers crossed they will see the health benefits of going with a different registered breeder that does all the appropriate testings! There other train of thought is “ we had our past BC for 12 years, dad got him out of the paper and he was healthy” once again thanks everyone
  14. yep - they are located in Goulburn so anywhere within a 4 hour drive would be ok. thank you wreckitwhippet
  15. they are looking for a border collie. i just looked at the breeders list, wow there are a lot of BC breeders, they shouldnt have any problems finding one... ill send them some links :) no idea if it will change there minds but i will try again
  16. I honestly had a brain fart and didn't even think of rescues!! Mita, me to. I think they didn't like what they saw with the first breeder and then decided that it was just easier to go byb. I completely get what you’re saying though. I guess that brings an element of laziness into it? Looking at one and then just taking the easier option? she knows that I ‘am currently on the lookout for a new dog and couldn't understand us being on a waiting list when there are so many breeders of our chosen breed around. I explained to her the reasons why we have chosen this breeder and one of the reasons is that she is a small time breeder. Because of this she does not always have litters available. her dogs are raised and kept in a family environment. I guess I am a bit frustrated with her and also that my advice seems to have fallen on deaf ears. I CAN understand them not wanting to go with someone of that scale though and that's no offence to the large scale breeders just my personal preference.
  17. I have friends that were looking for a new puppy a few months ago and asked me for my opinion. I pointed them in the direction of DOL and told them to attend shows etc. I also gave them my rant on back yard breeders and success – they decided to go registered breeder :) Last week I received a phone call from them saying they went out to a breeders place to meet the breeder in person and view the parents of their potential pup ( yay I thought to myself, everything’s going well). My friends said the breeder had 30 + dogs and they were all kennelled in runs. The runs were apparently very clean but with no toys or any form of enrichment. She asked how often they came out of the runs and was told when they are showing them. She said whilst the breeder was very lovely, these dogs clearly weren’t pets and their main purpose was for breeding and showing. They left undecided if they still wanted to go down the registered breeder route and upon talking to her today they have decided to just get a pup from the paper or gumtree. Her reasoning was ‘ at least if they are just someone’s pets the parents would get more love then the kennelled dogs’ I spoke to her about health testings and personalities and everything else but she said they feel like they are supporting a puppy mill if they went with the reg breeder after seeing the amount of dogs this breeder had. I also couldn’t not convince her that not all breeders run like this. I’m looking for others opinions please? Both breeders and not. And if anyone else has had an experience like this at all? I’m in no way trying to offend anyone or be flamed myself ( have my flame suit on lol ) but for some people who genuinely just want a pet to love and may not know the breeders full situation or what is involved with showing dogs I can see how the mind would tick over at this sort of thing......
  18. have you looked on all homes? if you click on canberra and then down the bottom it shows you the list of all the surrounding places :) http://www.allhomes.com.au/ah/nsw/rent-residential/bywong/121488310
  19. so sorry to hear im sure he went out the happiest a dog could be though! hugs to you
  20. I'm not sure that it's within forum rules to actually post a link of that type that but in the case of that particular cross, favoured of puppy farms, perhaps "professionally bred" in the sense of "the oldest profession" is accurate. I take your point, though, it definitely would be misleading to the general public, including that poor owner. I bet they were really cute as puppies. Is there any chance that there is a small breed rescue close to you that you could alert to that pair? At least they are desexed so no danger from that side of it. :) Edited to add - I've just looked at the "additional info" section of that ad and the owner has been completely hoodwinked by the puppy farm, as he has written YES to the pedigree papers? question even though he is aware they are crosses of two different breeds. He hasn't used a "designer breed" name or anything. Perhaps the puppy farm supplied him with a document giving the names of each parent for the dogs and he honestly believes that equates to pedigree papers. Exactly the kind of lack of education that we are talking about. Maybe the next home will equally proudly believe that they own a pair of pedigreed cross breeds. Oh by the way I do not apologise for being judgemental of that breeder. opps sorry, i wasnt sure about the link bit. i have sent the add to my local small breed rescue so maybe they will be able to help and keep these 2 together :) its so easy to see how the general public can get caught though
  21. that's such a cute photo, just hangin' with the silkies. :D Thank you, its one of my favs! i love how the chick is kinnda leaning into him LOL
