  1. If a dog is registered on the limited register can it later be changed to main by the breeder if they want to? I’m purely curious, I was on a facebook site the other day and saw someone advertising a litter of pups as limited register. They said if you buy one it will be on limited but they would consider changing to main down the track if they feel the pup turns out to be a nice type... I have never heard of this and curious to know if that’s legal?
  2. So I met the breeder of our new pup on the weekend and was sooo happy :) The lady was lovely and answered all of our questions. I also met a couple of her dogs ( at the show) and was so impressed with the temperament of her dogs. Such healthy, happy dogs. We are going next weekend to meet our little pup and after meeting the breeder and some of her dogs in person I KNOW it will be the right pup for us :) This is going to be a longggggggggggg week!
  3. Skysong have you put pics on the other thread? i need to see your new addition haha. yep one of the girls at work has banned me from any puppy talk in the office LOL
  4. what do you mean by this? " my vet said its ok to take back a puppy between 6-8 weeks." do you mean take it back to the breeder?
  5. Terri we are getting another JRT :) Have been looking and waiting for the past 8 months so now that pups are born and wiggling it makes waiting worse haha Ninak that's awesome congrats! fingers crossed there is one available for you :)
  6. thanks everyone. i didn't know there was one at kippax so i will ask them. so hand stripping is what i want to ask for? stupid question but does it hurt?
  7. thanks guys :) Mrs rusty bucket i have made a bacon treat and used dried bacon bits in it in the hope that that would keep longer I didn't know that about most treats, clearly i never read the fine print haha I want to do jerky style meats as well. I know for me when buying treats for spud i like to get him biscuit type ones but i also look for long lasting chews. I used to be able to get him kangaroo roo tendons that lasted him a good day, cant find them anymore these are some trials i made over the weekend ( first try so i know that are not very visually appealing haha)
  8. Hello Dollers, after some help please I am trying to start up a small side business of Homemade dog treats, nothing fancy and am prepared for it to possibly not work out but I want to give it a crack anyway :) Anyway I was planning on selling at markets etc and have been experimenting and making different recipes at home whilst I work out all the bits and pieces. My issues is finding a treat recipe that will last out of the fridge for 4 weeks..... so far all the ones I have found really only last out of fridge for 1 week and that's not something I want to sell to people. Does anyone have any biscuit treat recipes that are long lasting they could recommend please?
  9. Morning everyone I needed to post here as no one at work seems to understand my anticipation on waiting for my new pup. We are due to get our new family member in 3 weeks ( providing she is a match for us) and the wait is killing me hahaha. I’m soooooo impatient and just want her now lol Good things come to those who wait.... I’m sick of waiting LOL
  10. Thanks Louise i will give her a call. complete other side of town for me but worth it if she does a lovely job :)
  11. Can anyone recommend a groomer in Canberra that knows how to PROPERLY groom a broken coat Jack Russell? Spud came out of the groomers shaved last time and I know he felt embarrassed lol
  12. i have a rough but i have never had a smooth so not much help with comparison lol i don't believe coat type should affect temperament though, they are all nut bags lol
  13. i personally recommend this one http://northsidevet.com.au/ two of the vets that work / own this clinic used to work at a very well known and very experienced clinic, they have branched out and now run this one and its wonderful, not over priced and ALL staff have a wealth of knowledge
  14. awesome thank you Nushie :)
  15. My last 2 girls were 14 and 15. Schnebbie the younger one was blind so we put a bell on rosie’s (the older one) collar so schneb could listen and follow her around – it worked so well for the last 4 years of her life :) Rosie was nearly 16 and We made the decision the put her down. I remember my dad went out to the back yard to dig the hole. Rosie wandered outside to where dad was digging a hole and sat with him the whole time. Then when we went inside for dinner she stayed out there and lay down next to the hole, it was heart breaking. We had her PTS the next day and 2 weeks later had our other girl also PTS because her health went down hill so much, the vet said she gave up
  16. thank you, i didnt think about the weight of it so thats good to know :) we are getting another pup in a few weeks so a heavy one is not going to work for the bubba!
  17. Can anyone recommend a brand or type of dog door please? Also does anyone have any tips for a dog who has never used one before ( or an owner lol )?
  18. I think they have a 14 day appeal don’t they? When I worked for council ( NSW) if we gave an order like that on the dog the owners had 14 days to appeal the order and document and then commencement the changes they would make to ensure their dog was contained at all times. What annoys me is all the whinging on the media, I bet the fence or where the dog is getting out still hasn’t been fixed yet....
  19. I was out riding bush once and had a nasty tumble off my horse. I must have knocked myself out coz when I woke up spud was licking my face and pawing me across the nose. I was too disorientated to find my phone and couldn’t get up. Spud kept racing to me, giving me a lick then running a little way and barking at me. After a while he raced up whinged in my face then took off.... around 45 minutes later he came racing back down the hill at a million miles an hour with my husband following behind on the quad. He said as soon as spud came home without me he knew there was an issue, he tried to put spud on the quad with him but he refused and just started racing back towards me! My goodness I love my little white dog :)
  20. its for Jack Russell's. the only reason why i didn't name the breed was because i didn't want to upset anyone or sound like i was dishing them until i fully understood what it was. admin, if i'm not allowed to name the breed please delete my comment
  21. Thanks everyone. I think your right. This one says it has members and pup come fully papered so maybe it's just a way to be breeding and not real papers lol I don't know if that makes sense but I can't think how else to word it It was strange though because it's a very common well known breed that is listed with ankc
