  1. Not a huge deal of info more just Saying it’s going to take a LOT of time and she may never be a dog that likes humans... trying to work out what training strategy to use., want to build her trust but also don’t want her to get away with things, like being defiant and running away. ( this was just a puppy school but the trainer is a qualified behaviourist) She mentioned pup might be relying on our other dog too much. We are going away this weekend so I’m leaving pup with a friend with lots of dog knowledge and taking spud to my parents so they have a weekend apart to see if there is any improvement in her behaviour. I’m just waiting on pay day to have the in home consult with another lady. I sent the breeder an email telling them everything that is currently going on and asking for information. At puppy school I was sitting on the floor and had all the other pups playing all over me and trying to get my attention whilst Stella walked off and did her own thing. She was very happy to play with the other pups but if a person tried to touch her she ran off. Or if someone called her she would sit, look at them then walk the other way. She wants NOTHING to do with people. Edited to add - she will work for food. she is very smart and knows what to do. she will not concentrate on the person with the food only the food but at least its a way in
  2. Thank you, I’ll try that .... this is not something I know how to deal with.
  3. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I had a behaviourist liken my new puppy to a child with Autism. I can’t find much info on google for this so just wondering if anyone has any experiences?
  4. I currently pay $40 a day for my pup to be at a day care place. She gets training and socialization. A kennel I used to go to charged me $10.00 a day because we were regulars and that included doggy play time with other dogs that mine knew. We won’t be able to keep the $40.00 a day one up for long but we are doing it for our pups benefit so as long as I can afford it I will do it :)
  5. It drives my husband insane!! He gets so angry when I get spud stuffing toys ( don’t know why, it’s not as if he cleans up the mess lol) I have bought him some stuffingless toys which he has decided are just no fun so I will continue buying him $2.00 ones from the reject shop so he can rip the stuffing out to his heart’s content. He did destroy our puppy’s favourite sleeping toy the other day though, she was most distressed and keeps dragging the material around with her lol
  6. Thank you Terri, she is so precious! Hubby thinks we should sign her up with an animal agency LOL Spud was a bit unsure about her to begin with but now he thinks she’s awesome lol
  7. our boy is getting used to her i dont think hes to impressed though lol
  8. Picked up our baby on the weekend, Oh my gosh she is just the cutest thing in the world! So in love with her, especially when she’s sleeping haha
  9. i picked up our new 8 week old JRT puppy on the weekend... oh my gosh shes a nut bag LOL
  10. Find a breeder who’s dogs you love and talk to them! That’s what we did. We narrowed it down to 3 breeders and were on waiting lists with each of them ( we told each breeder we were talking to others) the first breeder to have a litter didn’t have anything suitable, the second didn’t have the gender we wanted, the third has produced the most amazing perfect pup that fits in with us in everything we wanted!! We pick her up tomorrow :) Many, MANY years ago I used to manage a large chain pet shop. Every Thursday I would get a list faxed to me of available pups. The list had anywhere up to 30 different breeds and litters on it. pups were not all from one place and were not considered from puppy farms. There was an individual puppy agent whose job it was to source pups from different BYB’s and then on sell them to us. Whilst the petshop may say they do not support puppy farms, if they sell pups in store then they support irresponsible back yard breeding. ( before I get attacked, this was a long time ago that I was in this role and un educated about byb)
  11. you poor thing!! thank goodness everyone is ok
  12. I bought this one from Coles yesterday and I was NOT a hit. I think it’s because it’s not soft on the inside ( like a toy with stuffing would be) he squeaked it once, looked at me in disgust and dropped it lol Hopefully some of the others will be more successful lol little fussy turd!
  13. me to Huski! Spud does zoomies when he gets new toys. what size is the one Daisy is playing with?
  14. Soooo many ideas!! Thanks everyone  we pick up our new puppy next weekend so im sure we are going to end up with 2 stuffing killers! River Star, I LOVE that idea of the Mop head!!! Huski, i'm ordering one of those right now :) the Holee Roller filled with stuffing is an awesome idea thank you!! oh my god my lounge room is going to be full of fabric haha
  15. mmmm that's a really good idea, i wonder if he will still like it coz its not round lol i currently get his toys from the reject shop, its cheaper considering he destroys one every couple of days, i haven't noticed the flat ones, thank you ill have a look :) Kavik they look good thank you !
  16. Spud will only play with soft toys. He likes to throw them in the air and LOVES playing tug with them. He then precedes to ‘kill’ them till they split and then has copious amounts of fun pulling the fluff out and spreading it around the house. Has anyone had any success with stuffing-less toys? or can recommend any? I have seen some on ebay but the postage is ridiculous!
  17. it's SUCH a wonderful thing to happen. We get a beautiful puppy to cherish & bring up AND make friends with a person whose values match ours. So happy for you thank you!! i am over the moon excited!! meeting the breeder and her dogs made everything that much better. i am soooo happy with her her dogs temperaments, conditions they live in and everything else! yay, so happy i didn't settle for another one that didnt feel right!
  18. Thanks Vizslamomma im so happy with her. it just goes to show it DOES pay to wait for the right pup :)
  19. Met our new baby on the weekend OH MY GOSH I am so in love lol Cannot wait for her to come home with us in 2 weeks! Eeekkkk so excited :)
  20. its going to be such a long wait for you Asyla lol we are going up to meet our puppy on Sunday, OMG i cant wait! this week has been soooo long
  21. When we moved house we left spud in the back yard while we went to do the shopping. Came back a few hours later and as we were driving up the street I noticed something move in the back of hubbys ute (The ute was parked on the kerb on the main street next to our house). Got a bit closer and there is our little white dog happily perched in the tray smiling at us! Turns out he climbed the fence when we left and didn’t know where he was. The neighbours said they tried to catch him but he just jumped in the ute and stayed there. guess he figured he wouldn’t get left behind if he stayed in dads truck lol bless him
  22. thanks everyone. this is me not knowing much about showing, but does a pup have to start its show career and title career as a pup? wouldn't it be a lot harder to be switched to mains at an older age and then start showing?
  23. would the dog need to be shown first for this to happen? what would breeders reasons be? would it be for breeding?
