I feel like I've been a full time nurse today, had to wipe his nose about 50 times (then wash my hands again etc) His appetite is improved and got him to eat some good food today. Only worry is he doesn't want to drink now. I tried a nice warm beef broth, no interest. I have got some water into him with a babies bottle, but it cannot be enough. I can't tell if he is getting better or worse? How many days should it take for ant-biotics to kick in. He started them on Saturday, it is now Tuesday. This is him looking miserable. (This pic was also posted on another thread).

RIP dear boy :D run free at the rainbow bridge. My condolences to your family and everyone who loved you so much.

Thanks trifecta, I get your point and edited my post. He is a bit better today, I got him some Benadryl and it seems to be helping.

I have a foster Rotti who arrived yesterday with a bad cold (very snotty nose, like very). He is now on anti-biotics (it is difficult to get him to eat or even take his medicine but he will from my hand). I thought it was not too serious but tonight there was blood on the carpet. I took him straight to the vet after he arrived hence the anti-biotics. What do I do now? I have to work tomorrow. The poor fella (a Rottweiler) is miserable, skinny and sick.

RIP dear Mack. And hugs to you MM and family. I think it is called rainbow bridge because our tears make a river.

Once loved, never forgotten. I can understand you posting Lynne.

I think Eucanuba is the best but the price is rediculous. I appreciate hearing other recommendations.

Sending you and doggy some white light. I'm sorry I do not know doggys name or if it is a he or a she but feel it has a very strong spirit. Please tell us name, gender and breed again if I missed something. I sent you an email pampa. Will be thinking of you both in this difficult time.

Sounds like she is going to get through it and a tough little monkey. I wont use rat bait and would rather have rats. A friend had an experience with it last year. Friend visiting when I was too to another friends place. In five minutes the pup found the rat bait hidden under a prickley bush. They had only placed about three to five grains there. Pup quickley after eating it was ill. Rushed to vets and treatment was long and slow. Dog did survive but what a scare it was. Only about three grains she ate. Yuck, how hiddeous is that stuff. I keep my house free of rodents by not having anything for them to eat available to them. Hope your pooch continues to make progress in her recovery. Spelling!

You Maybe Gone, But Never From Our Hearts Jenna
Labsmum replied to Joey Rocks My World's topic in Rainbow Bridge
My hugs to you, my sweet jenna. Having lost a loved one last year, a 15 year old lab, I cannot say much more but to say I understand how you might feel. I've been crying a river, but it does get better . -
I feed my dogs mostly Supercoat but also Bonnie, not listed here. They also get a wealth of leftovers. (But never bread type stuff).

Uncontrollable Urge To Pee. Stops On Vomit
Labsmum replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree with that (your quote). It is very touching and for me too and restores my faith in humanity. I just read your thread Erny (I thought you was a fella too by the name). Sending some blessings/good vibes for Kal. -
I just read this thread. Sending more good vibes pampa. Your little girl has had a rough trot.

He is Puggles (overdue for good times). My lovely lab passed away last year, he was pretty special (of course!) This dog, Pascoe has the best temperarament I have ever seen in a dog. If the epilepsy had showed up earlier he would not have been rescued. So luck remains on his side in a strange kind of way. He's won the hearts of his new forever keepers too and they are willing to help him with it.
-
Hi Puggles, unfortunately his health history is not known at all. Maybe he was taken to the pound because of seizures? The pound musn't have been informed or he wouldn't have gone to rescue. He had no sign of it in the 6 weeks he was with me. Hopefully the blood tests will reveal a cause.

RIP Maggie Moo :D I'm sorry Kendall for your sad loss.

Sorry to hear about Eddie Megs. RIP little fella. :D I found this thread cause I was researching epilepsy. The people who took my 10 yr old foster rang last night to say he had a seizure yesterday. He was ok after but it doesn't sound good. The poor old fella, he's been through what seems to be a tough life, then the pound, was rescued, desexed and flown interstate....he just landed on his feet with the best home and now he might have epilepsy . He's a lovely natured dog. They are waiting on blood test results.

My young lab has recently developed a rash. It is in the areas where she sits and lays down so the vet thinks it is a contact allergy which makes sense to me. I need to work out what is causing it. The only new addition to the garden was some straw I put on the vegie patch. What part of their bodies have the rash? This might give you a clue.

I hope you know others here know and understand how you feel. I remember your original post. She was (is) beautiful. Hugs to you.

I visited your river today Maya (the Maribyrnong). I hadn't been back since that last day when we went there together. You got excited in a muddy puddle forgetting quite your exact joy but just remembering your love of water. You were an olympic swimmer. That river you swam in daily in from yr 4, you loved it, the Maribyrnong. You were such a good swimmer. I km at a time. You crossed it once and landed on the other side. You worked it out and swam back to me. It was hard to visit the river today. I cried wondering why you were not there. I expected you Maya to be there. How silly is grief? I hated 2005 becoming 2006 because Maya was still there in 2005. It is so hard to accept loosing a loving dog friend. It is so good to have known him. Pic is indoors when he was 15. Edited to ad hugs to you inspector rex. The timing of our doggy losses are close. It changes, the grief, very imporant though not to get stuck in it. Blocked grief is a killer. DSC00176.JPE

I'm sorry to hear about your little puppy. RIP little girl

I deal with rodents by making no food accessible to them. I have starved them out of the house, all grains are stored in containers and the bread is kept in the fridge. They stay away now because there is nothing they can eat. I saw a puppy nearly die once after eating only 3 grains of rat-sack and won't risk using it.
