I can vouch for the westie, though be warned they are like potato chips and you can't just stop at one! A pet westie is usually clipped and can be done yourself as for shedding they are not completing non-shedding ie: if you are wearing black you will notice some white hairs. My two are happy with a walk or more a day, I find that wherever I am they usually are. They are not a lap dog however if i am on the couch they are usually there too but in their own space. They can be stubborn at times but are very willing to work for rewards (mine have tried their hand at showing, obedience, earth dogging, tracking, lure coursing and lure racing) They are a great watch dog. When considering a westie I highly recommend that you go to a great breeder as skin problems can be an issue in the breed, and be prepared to wait for a great breeder then you can be sure you are avoiding any potential skin issues. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions :)

Hi Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good obedience club either on the Mornington peninsula or cranbourne area I've tried a couple but haven't yet found anything that fits just wanted peoples suggestions or recommendations. We have done basic obedience but have taken a break from obedience for two reasons one i was not happy with the structure of the club and 2 I was focused on showing as it was new. We are nearing earning our champ title and I am looking at going back to obedience just got to find the right fit any suggestions would be appreciated :D

Dog Cremation (pls Move If Not In Right Forum)
braeleighgirl replied to redangel's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had our beloved dog cremated last year I think it cost about $300 but I don't remember who it was through as we were offered it at the vet. It was easy, the vet organised everything, they told us about a week but they ended up calling early to come and pick him up. -
I have attended 2 different ones and the one I liked the best was the mixture of basic obedience training as well as supervised and carefully selected off leash play. We has two trained (not sure how much or what training they had) nureses with us and all puppies were supervised when in off leash play who they played with during off leash play was also selected eg big dogs with big dogs or quieter dogs with a dog who wasn't so excited. I compared this with the one i did most recently where we rocked up the first time and told there would be no socialization and it was all basic obedience tasks, was boring for me given I had trained most of the basics at home having already done puppy pre school 12 months previously. I think it was also a waste of time given that the class has 5 dogs in it and 3 of them were from the same family. I have to agree I would prefer that it goes on longer than 4 weeks as I don't want to have to wait until they have had all their immunisations before they can start dog obedience and that they have just gotten into the swing of things and then it's over! Also I have found prices vary greatly the two I did were $45 and $140
