  1. alot of treats or a massive bone & at least an hour of chasing him round the yard, only then to tackle him & hold him down & struggle till I cant hold him because of his wriggling the joys of a long haired GSD who hates to be brushed. My other normal hair GSD 2 mins
  2. I use a rake on zac & a normal brush ( dog) on ruby shes only got puppy hair, but her new coat has started on her tail & starting to come through on her back hooray for a little girl growing up Anyhow I love the rake for zac, & my yard too is a lawn of fur.A willy wag tail was trying to grab the hair today, but zac tried to chase him away. I left some out for him,so he can build his nest & impress the girls
  3. Gosh my vet has only offered me ivomec ( mind you I didnt really ask about anything else) & its not cheap. With every vist theres a consult & the scrapings are $15 each + the cost of ivomec, its become an expensive episode????
  4. welcome to the world of mange Its a bummer, my gsd had the exactly the same symptoms & yep it was mange Now after about 2 mths of treatment I think we have won the battle & hes over it Definately a vet vist, good luck
  5. this is zac at 3/4 mths Its hard to remember they grow too fast
  6. wow kitkat bronx is a big boy zac is only 30kg & 8mths old I must admit that I had him too FAT & was pointed in the right direction ( thank god for breeders) I find it hard to judge their weight having the long hair I have to look more carefully, now the poor boy is watched closely. Heres zac as a baby fluff ball,he was gorgeous & still is ha ha spice
  7. Hey kitkat No zac isnt itchy, you wouldnt even know that anything was wrong apart from a little patch on his leg & a little thining on his muzzle Dam mites they are a pain, ugly little things too I hope he gets over it at some stage, just going to have to wait nasty mites!!!!!!! spice
  8. We are treating our dog at the moment for demodetic mange & our vet has him on a oral solution called ivomec .Im not sure if its wotking as it doesnt seem to of gotten better. He has a small patch on his leg & I noticed thining hair on his muzzle( thats what brought it to our attention),now this hasnt changed, but it hasnt gotten worse.I have noticed other areas on his leg,but these could have been there before & now Ive just spotted it The vet took a scraping of his leg, which was a little difficult, hence no scrapping of his face & he only had a coulpe of mites.( I got to see them under the microscope) So I was assuming that we would get it under wraps quickley, but as its an immu... prob it looks like it may take a little longer. He has a review next week & I will have to see what the vet says, but Im preparing myself for a long hall in treating it
