    Dalmatian

Are there many Liver spotted Dalmatians about these days ? I haven;t seen one for many years. Is there any differances in temperament or health or size between the liver and black. What is the BAER test and what is it for,? What age can pups be checked for deafness ? Thankyou..
  2. My advise is to throw the books in the bin;relax a bit ;use your own common sense;ask questions on here if you are really concerned about anything ;take the pup to puppy pre school as a start.
  3. I also think education is urgently needed ,My daughter is a teacher, and she recently asked her class "How do you take care of a dog'',What Things do they need ? The class was silent. Most of them had never had a pet and many had never patted a dog or cat. These kids go on excursions to the aquarium and study about dinosaures yet they know little about animals that are kept as pets in the community.
  4. The Finnish Spitz looks interesting http://www.dogzonlin...nnish-spitz.asp A Standard Schnauzer .or Norwegian Elkhound.

  9. Crazy idea. She is in for a shock when she finds out how much work twins will be.Ask her if she could cope with 4 babies at once;as that is what it will be like. Not fair to get 2 pups just to keep each other company.Unless she has someone to train and care for the dogs she will not have much time or energy to cope with them herself.Tell her to wait untill the twins are about 3 years old ;out of nappies and sleeping all night;then maybe think about getting a dog.
  10. Doesn't look like a Koala.Another miss identified animal like this one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2017658/Chinese-villagers-mistake-malnourished-monkey-alien.html

  12. Forgot to mention earlier;Curly coated retriever.-I also agree with Rotti and Standard poodle.
  13. The Irish Setter would keep up with your border collie. Here is a link about them;and you can get info about other breeds there too. http://www.petplanet.co.uk/dog_breed_profile.asp?dbid=59
  14. Look into Irish Wolfhound-Deerhound-and Greyhounds. These are lower shedding .Also Great Dane-not sure what the shedding is like.

  18. I don't think you should interfere by contacting the owner and i would not do that for any reason,I will send a link to an advert to the breed club.Just passing on information;if they want to contact the owners i think it is reasonable for the owner to get a call from a club that is involved with the breed they are wanting to rehome offering assistence. One instance i know of, the owner already had someone coming to look at the dog but was pleased that the club had called and offered back up assistence if needed.
  19. No I said that they may well find a good home ;but often the breed club have people on thier waiting lists who have already been screened as suitable owners,so why not at least take advantage of the club as an option.Recently thier was a group of people with kids in tow posing as a caring family in order to purchase pure breed dogs and then was selling them on with fake papers for profit. Also if owners feel they can no longer keep thier pet then sometimes it may be due to them just needing advise from the breeder about how to manage a pups behaviour for example;if so they may find asking for help or advise may help them keep the pup. Breeders put a lot of time and heart into breeding great dogs.I think they would be stunned to see one of thier pups/dogs for sale having not been at least asked for help. One breeder emailed me to say thanks as he was able to get one of his pups back that was up for sale.
