This might be a potential photo-a-week challenge for me to do in 2012
-
Week one review for us: - I need to work on having more fun during the games rather than making sure I'm doing them right... I think more enthusiasm from me will create more enthusiasm from my dog - We need to get out and play the games in different environments, rather than just around the house. Hopefully the rain goes away so we can go down to the oval - We are doing well with the RZ game, so I think I can now be stricter and only reward when she is right next to my leg, not 20cm away (and crooked!). Last night we played RZ while moving at slow, normal and fast pace which was quite successful. Left side is still miles better than the right side - We have made a good start on Crate Games, but I've had to slow it down and am just giving her treats for sitting in the crate with the door open. We do a few repetitions of the door open - treat - door close, but after about 5 treats she's looking to escape. Also need to work on not letting her escape the crate! - Push Back n Jam was lots of fun, but again, we need to go and play this on the oval - I actually think her recall is getting better... it's not always as fast or as enthusiastic as I'd like, but she does come when called more consistently in more distracting environments Things to work on: - More enthusiasm! - Crate Games - Need to be less lazy, play the games more often and in different environments

Thanks, he's a very gorgeous boy! He had a minor stroke last weekend so I very nearly missed getting a chance to take that photograph. Mum says that he seemed to be getting stronger every day this past week, so here's hoping he continues to recover swiftly

My family are very into cats, but surprisingly both my sister and I have grown up and become dog people! Here's my cat Toby, he's a Silver Spotted British Shorthair. He lives with my mum in Sydney, when I moved I couldn't take him with me as we were renting. He prefers her big house anyway!

We are doing well with It's Yer Choice. I think that's our strongest game so far. We are a little behind with Crate Games though. I got the DVD a few months ago but we never worked on it properly. We are trying to work with a new airline crate, but she doesn't seem to like it very much. She's much more comfortable with her bigger wire crate. This weekend we will have to do lots of Call Once, we'll be at my sister's so I'll have a (hopefully) willing volunteer.

I read somewhere in the Forum or the Comments that if the dog is going to Person B before they're called, then Person A can call them back again to make it less predictable. But a third person would also work too... and I'd imagine that it would also build value for the dog's name being called by someone other than you or your OH

There's so much to read! I'm trying to print it all out sneakily at work, and I also need to get a ring binder to put it all in. It's not suspicious at all that I have a giant pile of dog-related papers on my desk :p We are having fun playing Collar Grab and It's Yer Choice. We're also working on Crate Games, which I really need to focus on because we'll be flying to Adelaide in less than two weeks and I want Chloe to be a happily crated puppy by then! I also need to rope my OH into playing Call Once with me. I've just been playing it randomly. I've noticed that she ALWAYS comes when I'm in the kitchen... she must know that's where the food is!

I signed up on Monday 28/11 and it was $399.82 through PayPal for the Brilliant level. I'm really looking forward to starting! Obedience school finishes up tomorrow night so it'll be good to have something with structure to keep us training throughout the summer

I squee-ed just a little over the tiger cubs... so cute! : ) Can I ask what lenses you were using for the zoo shots?

We are also a solo dog household... but I'm hoping to add another puppy to the family once our first is a little bit older (and hopefully wiser!). I'm already majorly puppy clucky, but alas, the time is not right yet.

Thanks guys. I ended up buying a medium bag (http://www.etsy.com/listing/78792607/in-stock-geometric-and-leather-dslr). I think it'll be too big for my camera gear, but I'd much rather have too much space than have to juggle multiple bags. I also got a strap (http://www.etsy.com/listing/72275976/brown-damask-leather-and-suede-camera). I hope they ship fast because I can't wait to show them off!

Thanks for the link, these Porteen bags are super sexy! I'm going to get one, once I decide between small and medium sizes. Anyone have the medium one? I have the dimensions but I have trouble figuring out how big that actually is. I only just got a DSLR (Canon 600D) with the twin lens kit... and the bag should also be able to hold my rather chunky wallet and other random bits and pieces.

Fantastic! Thanks :D

Clearly you need to give your dogs some pocket money so they can buy presents and cards! I would make it myself but there's no way I could do it without him seeing it beforehand. I'm not that subtle or sneaky! It's going to take all my creativity to figure out a way to sneak his present (probably a nice bottle of wine) home in the car as we travel together. I'm thinking gym bag.

So Father's Day is this weekend, and I wanted to get my OH a card from our puppy... because I'm weird like that. I was wondering if anyone has seen any good ones in Big W/Target/Myer etc? I tried the newsagency by work but they didn't have any dog specific ones.
