  1. I was out walking my girl this morning and spotted a pup loose no one in sight, it wasnt on the road but the roads busy and pups have no road sense, i just kept walking hoping it would just come straight to my girl and it did and it ended up being a little yellow lab pup most likely only about 10 weeks old, couldnt believe it i was so shit scared it was going to run on the road eventually the owners came out just scooped her up and took her back in no thank you sorry or anything.... im now wishing i would have kept walking and it followed me home, with owners like that the poor little pup doesnt stand a chance

Very very sorry to hear this Lisa, and no "normal" people just don't understand *hugs*
  3. Have you tried removing kibble all together and only feeing raw? I had an itchy girl and since i put a ban on kibble shes doesnt itch anymore and her skin and coat are the best ive ever seen.
  4. I have that problem with pet mince at lennards it's always frozen into 1 kg lots having one dog that just doesn't work for me but would be much cheaper than buying chicken mince from woolies.
  5. My old girl had spleen cancer when she was 14 unfortunately it busted and spread before we knew she even had it so your very lucky in that respect. I don't know what else to say but I'm very sorry ...
  6. Yeah I will just wanted her to feel a bit better, poppy is a lab isn't she so you know my pain. Abs is good not picking things up but if birds drop things in our yard well they get eaten. I'll fast her till this evening she hasn't eaten since 7 last night. Might go to petbarn this morning see if they have anything, I regret being out of peptosyl now, she hasn't had the runs I'm ages.
  7. Are they available in pet shops? I've used peptosyl before but not scourban. Vets closed its the weekend that's why I was asking for recommendations.
  8. I've read that it helps diarrhea plus helps sooth the digestive tract and bowel inflammation. http://www.holvet.ne...ppery_soup.html It is a soothing nutritive herb which is perfectly suited for sensitive or inflamed mucous membrane lining of the digestive system. The bark contains mucilage and tannins that act as demulcent, emollient, protectorant, and astringent. You might think of it as a soothing internal bandage coating the digestive tract for its entire length. Imagine the relief for your pet to have a jelly-like coating soothing in an eosophagus (food pipe) burned by acrid vomitus, or in an ulcerated colon. Anyone have any other ideas, im not feeding her this morning had a hell of a night nothing's staying in and it's not even looking like its heading towards firming up. She's had a big drink and is starving, god I hate diarrhea. Caught her with a green tomato yesterday and there has been little mushrooms popping up everywhere which I've been trying to keep ontop of....god know what she's been into.
  9. Abs has had an upset tummy for a few days, she's has a case of the runs, she's eaten something wrong again not sure what although it can happen sometimes when I give her chicken that hasn't been frozen. Anyway I fasted for about 15 hrs before she got so hungry she brought up clear "I'm empty" spit/bile. I have given slippery elm since Friday and now only ver small portions of boiled chicken and rice, twice a day, skippy elm is 1 capsule twice a day. Anyway being the weekend at the fact that it's 3am and I just clean up another small "accident". ( poor baby) does anyone have any recommendations? She's still happy she's very starving and I just thought the slippery elm should have started firming things up a bit more by now, it's only ever taken 1 capsule before and it's brought her back good.
  10. Heading to Jarvis Bay, how do you know if its a tick prone area? And yes i hope to have her swimming (fingers crossed) first time to the beach :p
  11. Hi All, I am taking Abbey to the beach in a couple of weeks and i am wondering about tick prevention. I havent ever had to treat for it before so i am totally in the dark. Abbey have sensitive skin so im not overly keen on applying anything topically (will if i have to be not as a first and only option). She doesnt get treated for fleas and has never had them, so i havent applied frontline ect... Does anyone have any recommendations on what i should look at using?
  12. Looks like it was a good morning Tapua, sorry I didn't make it I've had a bad back all week.
  13. Yes well i know how that feels, i objected every time i went to the vet and they said they wanted to put her on it, they evern wanted her to go on a trial for a new drug god it made me cranky. After all the money i spent on blood tests skin scrapings antibiotics poor little bugger was so sick of going to the vet i just went well bugger it took her off anything processed, make my own meals for her she gets homemade raw patties, chicken frames, turkey wings etc... make my own biscuits and you know what everything seemed to just regulate and shes a normal dog now. Honestly i wish i would have trusted my own judgement sooner.
  14. Apparently Jellyblush if the cortisone is given for very short period and a low dose (which can work) it doesnt have those bad long term side effects your referring to, i was like this as well i didnt want to give it to my girl. She ended up having 1 tablet for 3 days at a low dose and it was just enough to break the itch cycle.
  15. My girl was a chewer when she was on kibble, wasted tooooooo much money at the vets to get no answers.... Changed her diet, removed kibble completely shes now on a raw diet and no chewing at all, it resolved after about 2 weeks on a raw diet
  16. Yeah i dont feed schmackos either way too much salt content, i make all my own dog biscuits atleast then you know what they are getting and its soooooooo much cheaper (as long as you have the time :) )
  17. Also alot of the "less desirable" people that own dogs and usually have an agressive dog or an off leash dog simply wouldnt care.
  18. I looked back along my old girls lines once she passed away, i ended up finding the breeder who imported her grandfather, this breeder still had dogs that had her grandfather in their bloodlines, i ended up being able to get a new pup (my current girl Abbey) having my old girls grandfather in common on her mothers side.
  19. What brand is that, my girl (the picky princess she is) only likes beds or mats that are fleecy or she protests. A fleecy one would be good for me to get for her.
  20. That's the website I was looking for thanks
  21. Does anyone know a website that has dog friendly beaches listed? Or does anyone know if beaches down near Jarvis Bay are dog friendly?
  22. Labrador 16 months old, yes just for on the beach, he recall is good but combined with distraction and general "im a labrador and im excieted by the beach" and new smells deffinately need a long line attached.
  23. I am going to purchase a long line lead for when i take Abbey to the beach next month but not sure what length to buy, K9Pro has 15ft (5m) or 33ft (10m) anyone have any suggestions?
  24. Sometimes your lucky if Woolies has it in, our woolworths has even stopped getting chicken frames, they had a bit more meat on them than lennards.
