I am so sorry K9angel, i lost my lab in july, she was 14. She had pretty close to the same situation as you have spoken about above. She went off her food, she didnt want her walks, and she had a swollen belly. She had a burst tumor in her spleen, which then spread through her bloodstream to her liver. I made the very hard decision to let them do all they could for her and had her come home for 4 wonderful months until she had another bleed and became aniemic, they had given her 3 weeks until she would leave me so i was luckly to have 4 months. I then had to then make that decision, she pasted away in my arms. So i know the situation well, and im so so so sorry.

How Do You Know When The Time Is Right
Tara8430 replied to nattiej1976's topic in General Dog Discussion
It truly is an enormous void. It's such punishment that animals don't live as long as us. My aunt has a dog, it's even another lab but to pat her compared to my girl it's horrible to say but I don't feel anything. My girl just made your day better no matter how much of a shocker you had. -
I had a similar thing with my last dog, after many vet visits I finally got the right medication for her, but I would say take your dog to the vet before you start thinking it could be this or could be that, trust me it will do your head in.

How Do You Know When The Time Is Right

I was tossing up starting a thread like this also as I'm in the same headspace. I lost my girl a 14 year old black lab names Sheba in July. She was such a huge part of my life, she had cancer so my whole life had been revolving around her. Although she wasnt sick for a long time only 3 months she became eeven more dependent on me than ever before and then nothing but a huge void in my life. I don't have another dog at the moment so I now have more free time than ever before and I hate it, I loved looking after my girl. I am too tossing up if getting a new lab is the right thing to do, I am currently waiting to see if a particular breeder has any little black girl labs. I guess if she does than it's meant to be but I can help thinking how my lat lab would have reacted if I ever brought home another dog. But I so hate coming home to an empty house with no waggy tail or head to pat. But yes I'm suming up it's very very hard, every day is a struggle. -
Ha ha Su my mum called my last lab, Sheba "Sh*thead" for a long time also. She distroyed the lawn the irrigation system everything, she was a wild little black thing. Thats why im a bit scared of a new little black one, lil black devil she's saying it will be. I dont remember most of the terrible thing sheba did when she was young cause i was only young as well.

Yeah I have owned a black lab before, my girl passed in July from cancer she was 14, loved her more than the world. Will be very hard adapting to new lil girl. No mine hasn't been born yet, I am waiting hopefully the next couple of weeks. Getting from a breeder who has the same bloodlines but obviously a lil further down the track as my last girl. They have said they can see 4 pups so hopefully fingers crossed ones a lil black girl. Who's the breeder your buying from? Have they said roughly how much a lil black girl is these days?

So am I, have you had a black lab before? I saw a choccy one at the Easter show once with the name poppy it's cute

What a handsome little fella mason, he looks happy to be home.
-
awwww arnt they cute, 9 pups and only 2 girls wow.
-
Thats interesting Mason, well honestly i think i would have preferred bad allergies than the dreaded "C". Make sure you post some pics of mason and gibbs together
-
Havent heard that before, but yeah who knows. She had the worst bee alleric reactions her head used to double size and she could barely breathe or swallow, had a few very close calls. But yeah very unfortuantly lost her to cancer in July. She was very, very special. How do you think Mason is going to react to Gibbs? Is Mason very jealous?

It was my last dogs grandfather who was an Australian grand champ. I am hopefully fingers crossed getting another lab which is obviously a little further down the bloodlines as my last girl was 14, but from the same breeders. Never knew my girls scores but she never had any hip/elbow or eye problems. She did have allergies and very sadly ended with cancer but she had a very good life. I was just trying to understand when I get the details of the new parents what is good scores. And if that wasn't a good score I still ended up with a pretty good dog with none of those problems.
-
Hi, no wasn't scores of a dog I was looking at getting. It's a score of a lab that was in the bloodlines of my last lab. So what's a goods score what should you look for? I don't understand how they get the 2:3

Hi All, Can you tell me if this is good? Hips: BVA 7/5, Elbows: 0/0, Eyes: Optigen (USA) Normal/Clear. Im still confused with this stuff...

Heard from the breeder today, confirmation of pregnancy, she's expecting only 4 pups, most likely due at end of sept. Fingers crossed ones a little black girl for me.

Hi Tara, Wilbur settled with us really well. No night time crying etc he was quiet for the first night after he got off the plane, but by the next morning Mr Naughty Pants had arrived Looking back Wilbur's settling in has been more about adjusting to all the new sights, sounds, tastes, rules etc which he's achieved really well. he had his first puppy school lesson today and was great....a little stressed till he settled down. Wilbur has had some difficulty adjusting to the car, but we're persevering. This week we're going to take him out in the car every day to help him develop confidence. Some time this week we're going to move his crate from beside my bed to the end of the bed I don't want to move him out of my bedroom til he can hold his bladder the whole night. While he's in my room, he wakes me when he becomes unsettled and needs to go out for a loo break. if i move him out of my room i won't hear his movement in the crate. That's good, I'm not sure what to expect, it's been a long time since I've had a pup. I'll have my L's on again for a while I think. If you don't mind me asking who was the breeder you get Wilbur off? I'm still waiting on my new black little girl, but would love a choccy one in the future as well.

That's a great video suzie, go Wilbur get that toy haha he looks like he's having the best time. Did he settle in well? Much crying or anything? His coat look beautiful.

I think its about a month or so after they are mated they can be scanned/xrayed I was thinking that might have been the case. Does anyone know what the difference between limited and full registration papers?
-
I'm still trying to find out if my breeders dog is pregnant! Anyone know at how many days the vet can confirm pregnancy? I last heard from the breeder a month ago saying they were just about to mate them.

What are you looking at getting?

How come you didnt get to choose (or the puppy choose you) Mason?
