  1. I have been making my own patty's as well, Big bunch of spinach, cabbage, carrots and whatever other vegetables are cheap that week, blitz them up so i get a big bowl of raw vege. I know your not meant to have any grains (or so ive noticed on these forums) but ive been adding 1/2 cup cooked brown rice to the mix, and a couple of eggs and buying turkey or chicken mince and making pattys of chicken vege and rice or turkey vege and rice. I think i got about 16 150g pattys last time, and Abbey loves them thats all she gets for tea, i dont add any kibble to that she gets her 1 cup of kibble in the morning. I dont add any dairy, Abbey has a tablespoon of yoghurt Jalana A2 or something like that its called for lunch. She seems to be going well on this, red meat such as beef mince at this stage is still making her #2's a bit runny and lamb is deffinately a no go but shes 8 months now and doing well. She also gets the odd frozen 1/2 chicken frame of a weekend during the day after her big walk.
  2. Im the same Black Hawk made my pup insanely itchy and biting at herself, she has been off it for 3 or so weeks now and is nearly back to normal. It deffinately didnt agree with Abbey.
  3. Thanks, article in our local paper today that kennel cough is going around a bit too... http://www.centralwesterndaily.com.au/news/local/news/general/pets-sick-as-a-dog-with-kennel-cough/2573090.aspx
  4. Abbey had that last week, there truely is nothing like waking up to that sound and then having to clean it up at 4 in the morning, poor little bugger looks so sorry about it though
  5. I have a 20kg bag of puppy BH I for sale, I'll be in Bathurst this week if anyone is interested. Normally in orange can get the bag as far as dubbo as well if anyone is interested or knows someone who needs some BH.
  6. Fantastic thanks, wonder why that didn't come up when I searched
  7. For those who make your own raw pattys for your dogs what do you put in them?
  8. Sheba my last Labrador would bring me big dead birds she had caught in the back yard...... true Labrador
  9. Did you work out what was causing the allergy first though? My vet said cortisone is only a bandaid and isnt actually getting down to what is the problem and didnt recommend due to the side effects.
  10. Have you tried a food elimination diet? Thats my next step if Abbey doesnt stop itching, i took her to a new vet last week cause i had jack of my old vet, they just wanted to put her on cortisone tablets and not look any further. I have Abs on antibiotics at the moment cause she had a couple of sores (which looked more like healed mini hot spots) and im just waiting for the lamb based kibble to get out of her system. If she is still itchy in 3 weeks i have to put her on one of the hills prescription diets and the slowly add different types of food back and wait and see what makes her itchy. Im hoping that it was just the lamb based kibble and that she returns to normal soon, its been a week this week and i think (think!) that the itching is becoming less.
  11. Awww he's sweet, he's very lucky to have come across a person like you :)
  12. I also had not heard anything but good reports about BH thats why i changed Abbey over to it. But like Alyosha's dog, Abbey is just tearing her back appart, with the itching and the biting, turning her coat sticky and dull, poor little thing. She was so itchy that when we would go for a walk she would have to stop and have a itch at every corner or throw herself down on any patch or grass she could find to rub her back. It's is a real shame cause she really loves the BH, I've put her back on proplan which is what she was on when we got her and she isnt nearly as excieted. Shes been off the BH for nearly a week now and the itchy and biting has nearly stoped. She was scratching so much that i took her to the vet to see if there was anything else going on, but appart from her skin going really dry there wasnt any other problems.
  13. I really like these ones, great quality, easy to get on. http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/VEST
  14. Similar product to megaderm, but better?
  15. Would be interesting to test to see what ingredient is causing the itching cause if that ingredient was taken out it would be fantastic.
  16. Ive also had this happen, itchy pup and biting at herself like mad, im feeding a half BH half prolan at the moment and i think (i think) the itching and biting have reduced somewhat. Im not sure if i should open the new bag i brought in advance when i was down in Sydney cause its impossible to get out in Central West NSW, but then if i dont open it im not sure what to do..... On the other hand as you guys are saying #2's where smaller when only on BH and she was less hungry....so i dont know what to do
  17. That's a great little video, thanks for sharing.
  18. When i got Abbey the breeder had her on 4 feeds a day after i had her home a week i put her back to 3 feeds cause they were doing her last feed of the day at 11pm and both myself and Abbey were out cold by that time of night anyway.
  19. My girl abbey has had dry skin, been itchy and biting herself along her back. I've been put onto this shampoo by the vet which is a rehydrating shampoo and conditioner, PAW nutriderm and a Food supplement megaderm.
