Great calcium! agreed, Gus gets the WHOLE thing :) dogs can breakdown bones they can break down egg shell haha its great calcium and no waste... I leave whole ones in the back yard for Gus to hunt :) he loves it. I think Abbey would think what the hell do you expect me to do with this

Shell with the egg....really? Egg shells take ages to break down in the compost, i cant imagine that would be good to eat.....

My girl went super itchy on it, to the point where she was biting at herself nearly making herself bleed, she ended up with a badly chewed coat on her all along her back.

My girl would im sure end up eating plastic of the milk container.... Im thinking about getting one of those new JW treat balls the crackle ones, has anyone got one of those? My girl loves her wobbler but im thinking i need to mix it up a bit, a few different treat toys.

Switching From Advance To Black Hawk?
Tara8430 replied to Rosiesmum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think that "If it"s not broke don't fix it." Yeah i wish i would have listened to thats, sticking with the Pro Plan here changing isnt worth the hassel.... -
Okay so my girls on her first season and we are up to day 10 and still have bleeding, still a couple of red spots this morning. From what i have read and heard the bleeding normally changes to a straw colour between days 7-10. The bleeding is slowing but i just thought day 10.....hmmm whats going on? Any one have any suggestions? And No, she hasnt been near any other dogs, ive only had her out when im out.
-
Yeah im not sure about that, my experience with changing from Pro Plan Chicken to BH Lamb wasnt my girl being sick but it gave her a skin irritation, but it does seem when i give her any lamb products i generally see it again in a couple of hours. Ive left her on PP Puppy chicken but changing to PP Sensitive Skin and Stomach after i finish this bag cause she will be 12 months.
-
Was the Pro Plan Chicken and the black hawk lamb? If thats the case maybe it has a sensitivity to lamb, i know mine did.
-
I also have trouble feeding my girl fatty things such as lamb, she would bring them up a couple of hours later. She seems to be getting better at eating fatty things, i only ever give uncooked bacon rind.

Well its official Abbey started bleeding last night so thats my day 1?

Another Anal Glands Question....
Tara8430 replied to Tara8430's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
She has many carrots.... Actually she ate them all out of my vege patch. And she gets chopped up carrots in her wobbly kong. The only thing I know is missing is bones, which is only cause the weather her is terrible and I don't like leaving her alone with them. I'll try and get her out a big beef bone today. Thanks all -
Another Anal Glands Question....
Tara8430 replied to Tara8430's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Proplan puppy large breed kibble in morning 1Tsp yoghurt at lunch 150gm raw patty at night Pigs ears beef tendons biscuits (biscuits are home made with wholemeal flour and oats and oat bran so that's the fiber) as treats Weight at the moment is 30.1kg She's not uncomfortable or anything I just don't understand it. It's only like 4 or 5 dots of it that come out (it's usually on the tiles that why I know the quantity) and its light brown but deffinately smells like anal glands. Her stools are firm with a snap, not straining. Maybe the glands just need to be fully expressed by the vet? -
Another Anal Glands Question....

Deffinately not, her stools are firm. -
Ok so I know we are all quite familiar with those anal glands Omg yuck. Abbeys have been expressing by themselves once or twice a fortnight lately, strangely it seems to be when I giving her back a rub or brush. She doesn't scoot her bum nor is there any problems with her stools. She did have a case of the runs a couple of months ago though and had a bit of an irritated bowel. So I guess my question is, is this something to be concerned about? She is mortified when it happens and wants to vacate the area as quickly as I do. Unfortunately then her bum needs a clean cause well omg that smell Not sure if it has anything to do with it but she's 11 months and hasn't had her first season (but the liquid that is expressed is 110% coming from her bottom)

They look a bit like mosquito bites, I've seen those kind of marks on my current and my ol girls skin. Is your lab scratchy? Or does it have dry skin? They should just heal up but from my experience the patch of hair goes with the scab and the hair takes a while to come back. How old is cookie?
-
Im the same my pup came home and slept straight through, no crying, shes still the best little sleeper into bed at 9.30 (any later and she gets cranky haha) and not up till 7 when i get up in the morning (or 8 - 8:30 on weekends).
-
I only have abbey so she should be right out in the yard, it's secure there's a couple of male dogs down the road though. Should I stop waking her now or wait till blending starts then keep her home? I'm only guessing at this stage, she's paying more attention to herself an is looking a bit swollen to me.
-
Yeah Abbey my black lab is nearly 11 months, she's been a bit cranky the past week too, it just looks a bit bigger to me and she seems to be licking a bit more, still took her for a walk today. Should I only isolate her when she starts bleeding? ( it's been a while since I've had an entire bitch)
-
Well I'm starting to think Abbey might be coming on heat, she looks a bit swollen to me, does the swelling happen gradually over the first week before the bleeding?
-
My labs 10 & 1/2 months and she gets Pro plan pup large breed plus homemade raw pattys and homemade biscuits,I like to know what she's getting. Abbey also has chicken frames and the large beef bones cut in half from the butchers every now and then. I would deffinately ask your vet before giving your pup any joint or muscle products as they can effect there development, from what I've heard giving pups products such as joint guard at a young age isn't recommended. Make sure you pop over the the breed sub forums and come over to topic those crazy labradors, would love to see pics of your pup

Is he sleeping with his legs straight or curled up? The reason i ask is sometimes my Lab pup tucks her legs up underneath her when shes sleeping, like a little lamb hehe but obviously thats not good for growing bones. She stretches more when shes growing, stretchs her legs out and moans, does like a bow with her legs out the front bum up in the air and stretches her back then shes good to go, this doesnt happen as much when she isnt having a growth spirt.

12 months, lol... yea i know marvin isnt busted yet and he had both of them playing with him but rosie didnt survive Gus's enthusiasm Yep 11 month old Labrador owner who is obsessed with her toys so yes i feel your pain hahaha
-
Haha awww it's a shame when you buy something awesome and they go to far and break it. How old is Gus?
