Has anyone ever heard of or tried doing this? Epsom salt baths can help in several ways. Not only has salt and salt water been used as an extremely effective anti-bacterial agent for thousands of years, as evidenced by salted foods, many breeds, such as Labrador retrievers were bred to spend their days standing in salt water, helping to bring in fishing nets. Epsom salts contain not only sodium chloride, but potassium and nitrates that can aid in restoring the natural balance of bacteria on a dog’s skin. Salt can also raise the pH level of your dog’s skin, which may help regulate normal bacterial ratios. Regardless of the reason, a warm saltwater bath soothes the itch, helps disinfect the area and is a fun experience for dog and owner alike. Don’t rinse your dog’s feet after her bath. Let her lick the salt off or gently pat dry her paws. And don’t get any in her eyes. -
Is protextin to be used long term? My girl had giardia back in August and still has the occasional sensitive stomach I'm wondering is I should give it a go. Shes on proplan sensitive skin and stomach would protexin be okay to be used as well? Also what's the difference between the orange label and green? And what is the dosage rates?

I've had the same problem my girl has been itching biting oh my god it's driving me crazy so I can only imagine how she feels, I think maybe contact allergy. I've changed my girl to proplan sensitive skin and stomach, I'm 2 weeks in and her coat is looking better but still itching and biting, I'm now wondering if it's just habit and I need to break the itch cycle. I tried spraying that can canendula tea and it had no affect. -
I Guess It's Nice To Be Greeted When Arriving Home
Tara8430 replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Love it, they make you feel so loved and important. I've had to change my shirt twice this week at lunch time when coming home for my break fom work as Abbey has thought I have needed a giant bear hug And all my face licked..... Can't go back to work like that -
Had to donate my big bag of it, made my black lab beyond itchy and very dull coat, before I tried it never heard a bad word about it but now..... I wish I hadn't touched the stuff.

I'd never buy something labelled as pet mince, no matter how cheap it was My dogs get human grade meat. Same here, oh my god the pet mince i got when our local pet store which was always so good changed to Petbarn was discusting so smelly, like it had horse meat or something in it, my girl turned her nose up at it. Since then human grade meat for my girls also. Question in regards to chicken frames, my girl gets raw patties all the time, chicken turkey etc... well the other day i gave her a frozen chicken frame as a treat and the next morning her poo's where really soft and sort of runny again, this seems to happen whenever i give her the bones of an animal, could bones just be too much on her tummy?

What Treat Does Your Dog Likes The Most?
Tara8430 replied to Niki8's topic in General Dog Discussion
My lab pup loves beef tendons, she also loves carrots so much so that she harvested her own from my vege patch -
Oh thats good to know im thinking about taking my girl for a trip there for a week and hitting the beach. Are the beaches there dog friendly?
-
So is it only free shipping on toys? Where does it say it i havent ordered from them before

My ol girl used to do that, she even ate sand. My vet said they think that they are missing something (deficiency) as mentioned above. Might just be a novelty though being a pup and all.

What is livamol? Is it for animals with skin conditions? -
I would say its the black hawk, it made my girl itch and bite like made I wish I never went near the stuff. How long has your dog been on the black hawk? My girl started the itching and biting after about half a bag of it for 6-7 weeks.

Ok, websites I read said 12 hours.

Back home finally, well abbey is quite happy and seems fine but the poos in the yard which are small but runny, spoke with a vet today who said to give her the peptosyl but im still taking her in tomorrow to work out causing it. The peptosyl should firm her up by tomorrow afternoon. She was wormed about 3 weeks ago so yeah don't know about that. See how we go at the vet tomorrow, I know abbey loves her vet but geeez do I really have to go every couple of weeks....
-
Ive booked her into the vet couldnt get her in till tomorrow. I'm out of town too I've got people looking after her which makes it worse. Ive been told the stools have mucus what could that mean? Volume is less though, poor little bugger be glad to get back to her this evening.

Yeah she's still drinking I've made sure of that, she was fasted until about 3 on Monday after last feed being 6pm Sunday. Then I put her onto chicken and rice. I haven't seen her get into anything but with pups I guess you never know and being a lab everything goes in the mouth! She seemed fine Tuesday during the day but her movement last night was running and watery. She doesn't feel hot or seem out of sorts in any other way. I haven't got a thermometer to check her temp myself.

Hi all, my 1 year old lab pup has an upset stomach since Sunday night, she's had a case of the runs, no vomiting. I fasted her for 12 hours which stopped her running out to go #2's then put her on chicken and rice. She didn't have anymore movements until last night when she lost it all again runny smelly and yuck. Would I be best to take her to then vet now or is there something else i can try? I have some peptosyl which I could give her but don't know if I should or not. She's still drinking and happy going for walks and playing but just loose stools. Forgot to mention she was on heat a couple of weeks ago, could it just be a hormonal change?

Well I've caught my girl (12 month old pup and naturally curiousity is just too much) chasing and licking at ants, the little black ants bull ants and spiders etc... Over the past couple of days she's been scratching at her face with her dew claws and now she has these sore on her lips so I would say something's bitten her... again. My question is.... Is the anything I can do about it? I've given antihistamines which has taken a bit of the redness out of it but is that all I should do? Here's a picture
