  1. Awww the cuteness...and a weeny pink puppy belly. I'll bet she smells devine!
  2. So cute! Tiny has the sweetest expression on his face and eyelashes to die for lol.
  3. Yonjuro, while you're searching for a better bottle I thought I would mention I have the same crappy bottle as you. I'm sure I have bigger muscles on my right arm from trying to squeeze water out! I ended up taking to the end with a knife and widening it a little. Its 100% better now and by some miracle doesn't leak when on its side. This might help while you're searching?
  4. He's absolutely gorgeous! Can I ask what their nature and activity levels are like?
  5. Susan Garrett's Crate Games (for self control and motivation) is lots of fun. I also second The Focussed Puppy book, very comprehensive. I've enjoyed reading When Pigs Fly by Jane Killion. It's training help for breeds bred to have some independence and may not be as easy to train as other dogs, eg Terriers. Shaping is a big focus as they do well thinking for themselves.
  6. Good luck Amuse! Enjoy every moment of the baby time, it goes sooo quickly. Can't wait for pics!
  7. Although logistically it might be difficult storing crates, I'm sure something could be managed with a bit of thought. A shelf above head height in each pen would work well (i think as already mentioned) because crates can collapse down and not need much space. Cat cages could slide on the shelves as is. What's the alternative? That they walk away and leave the dogs or pile them in to cars willy nilly whether they're in season, dog aggressive, reactive, timid etc? If each crate was provided with a tag indicating dog and owners name, diet or handling requirements I could imagine that would be invaluable if evacuating dozens and dozens of dogs. If the general public did help in an emergency, they would at least know a little about the dog and how to contact the owner. I can't imagine the difficulty dealing with those numbers in an emergency but it's the responsibility of the business owner who's taking money for caring for the pets to have a plan in place. IMO.
  8. Lovely photo, but what happened to baby Laiken lol? It almost looks like you have two adult labs side by side! Is there much room left for you when they're both on the couch? I have the exact same problem here of the puppy playing quite roughly and Maggie accepting it. Unfortunately for Maggie she's a shorty so even though she waves her head around to avoid Poppy it doesn't do much. The puppy is so fast compared to Maggie too. She plays I've got what you want and runs just past Maggie who lumbers around trying to get it off her. Sometimes she'll put the item on the ground to draw Maggie closer then picks it up and tears away just before she gets there. Cracks me up. How are you finding Laiken training wise? At 21 weeks can I ask what type of things you're working on now? I so wish there were classes or options for puppies training wise. We had a great puppy kindy with an instructor also trains and competes but now it's finished. Poppy picks up things well and is great at shaping but I know my inexperience is slowing us down and I don't know how to work through problems. It would be much easier with an instructor or at least another person who knows what they're doing to give advice. When she's old enough hopefully I can find the right club to join that doesn't just do straight obedience.
  9. My new puppy vomited on two separate nights giving me a terrible fright. Behavior wise she was full of beans and the vet said it was most likely bile from an empty stomach. I could see that could be possible because she was off her food for the first few days. It never happened again thank goodness, hopefully that's all it is for your puppy too.
  10. So cute! I was waiting for photo four to be of the cat attached to Em's face though, he (or she) looks like they're contemplating it lol
  11. I've found recorded noises haven't helped my older dog with storms but maybe it depends on what noise your desensitising too? I can play thunderstorms and my Frenchie does nothing, but the real thing has her panting and clinging to me. With the lawnmower I only have experience with my puppy but this worked well for me. I left the lawnmower out for days and did lots of treating around it until it was ignored. Then I turned it on and left it running in the one spot for increasing times while playing games a distance away. After a few days I moved it a short distance and played games between each move creeping closer each time. She now doesn't give a hoot which is great but she's maybe a bit too relaxed as I have to keep her inside to stop her getting in the way when mowing! I did the same with the vacuum cleaner with the same result. Good luck, its horrible when you see them so stressed.
  12. She's gorgeous and I love that shiny coat. I've got a scruffer with an adult coat which takes months to come through. I do miss the sleek softness of a short coat. :)
  13. Hand up to go second in line!
  14. Great photos and beautiful bubbas you have there! Hopefully you keep posting photos as they grow, they look gorgeous :)
  15. I agree too. I would buy one, I love it! You're very clever.
  16. That harness looks awesome, he looks very handsome in it! My bling is pretty low key in comparison but it arrived today and I'm really happy how cute it looks :) It was from woo woo on Etsy. Fingers crossed the link works, I'm on my phone so no idea what I'm doing!
  17. Yikes, that would not be nice to come home to! If they're behaving as if they aren't toilet trained can you go back to the beginning of toilet training and take them regularly to where you do want them to toilet so you have an opportunity to treat and praise heavily? Maybe even remove the outside beds or barricade the couch until they are regularly toileting where they should? Good luck :)
  18. You couldn't be mad with that gorgeous face looking at you :)
  19. If the door doesn't have a lockable bolt can you leave it open enough for a breeze or for them to come in and out and chock the door with wood between wall and door? Ours luckily has a lockable bolt into the floorso we drilled an extra hole to have it open just enough for the dogs to squeeze out. I hope that makes sense?
  20. Good luck today :) You're going to have the best day!
  21. That sounds really frustrating and stressful. Hopefully there'll be no lasting effects for Laiken. Unfortunately I think most people you met won't have any appreciation for what you're trying to achieve and when you want them to just stop you don't exactly have time to explain your reasoning. That's my biggest nightmare when I start getting my puppy out too because she's so little every dog is probably going to look big and frightening let alone if they get in her face.
  22. Hershel is beautiful! He looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth lol
  23. Week one down, what a fun week! Poppy is doing really well and last night slept through the night..oh sweet sleep. She takes herself outside to toilet through the day except at night when I take her out. Today she had two hours in the ex pen outside and each day this week I'll increase by an hour and then back to work next week boo. She is not very food motivated unfortunately which makes training a bit hard. I get about three goes at something before she refuses the food. I've tried everything chicken, steak, pork, rabbit, cheese, chopped up Dentastix, her barf dinner. When I watch YouTube clips of puppies training they seem to get so much longer working on new behaviours. So far though she sits before exiting the ex pen, sits before treats, sits if I have an open hand of food near her and is starting to touch my fingers when offered. I haven't put names to anything yet. She's very confident with everything at home and in the back yard and will take herself off to explore, but less so with newer areas. I've taken her to the front of the house a few times to watch the neighbours and see the world go by but she's quite wary of everything. I'll just keep going slowly but surely. One thing I'm struggling with is 'Manning her down' which The Focussed puppy' recommends. She hates being held and squirms no end. Even if she calls for a moment while I'm gently stroking her she'll soon try again to escape. The book suggest doing it for 20 minutes but there's no way she'd last that long without getting stressed (so it seems to me). Do I just persist and keep pulling her back to me? I only put her down after a moment of calmness. How's everyone else's puppies going? Successes, struggles? I'm attempting to attach photos from my phone so fingers crossed it works.
