If it could leave you an antler instead of poo that would be perfect!

Great pics. Love that one of her laying back in your hand gazing up. Good luck with the birth!

Bunnings compost bin panels are handy too as they're cheap and you can link many together if you wish :)

All the more reason to be persistent I think. If they're trouble as puppies it won't be pretty as an adult. Each cuddle time time can you take a moment to squeeze paw pads and touch between toes? I try to remember to regularly hold Poppy firmly as if a vet needed to examine something too. Just for a moment then cuddles and praise. If you end up somewhere you need to regularly search for ticks you'll be glad they resign themselves to a check all over believe me!

My suggestion is make sure you have everything right there before you start so you don't suddenly realise your towel is on the other side of the room, and definitely make sure to have a non slip surface for them to stand on. Also if you're freaked out by doing everything at once maybe start with short sessions? In the tub, rub puppy all over (with no water), 'dry' with a towel, finish and treat. Next time standing in warm which you could pour over him, dry with a towel, finish and treat etc. You can work your way up to shampooing and rinsing that way? Ive done it this way with both my pups and it was pretty stress free. It was mostly from week one though. My terrier comes in the shower with me if I leave the door open too long and often ends up with a wash so that has to say something lol

Haha! I just showed my mum this cute picture and as she hadn't yet put her glasses on she said 'is that a piece of cooked chicken?'. Ummm no lol.

She is a clever cookie! Now you just need to wash the dishes a few times in front of her lol

Yours are great too CT! I really like the wood edging on Hugas photos though, is really adds to the overall look and seems to give the photos extra pop. The pricing is not too bad but I can see myself on Pinterest looking up how to make a wooden frame out of a pallet next lol.

WOW! Salivating over those pics, they look amazing! I'm about to look up those places, thank you :)

I really like these training tips on how to encourage\teach four on the floor :) Teaching not to jump
-
They look great! Can I ask who you used? Every now and then I think about printing photos then I get confused between online places or say Big W etc

My advice is start as you mean to go on. Don't allow pup on the couch, to bite when playing, or to jump etc if you don't want a teenage and then an adult dog doing the same. Keep appropriate chew toys handy so if you catch pup with something he shouldn't have do a quick swap. If you only remove what they shouldn't have you can teach them to hide with it or run from you. Lots of praise /treats for behaviour you do want. If puppy is sitting calmly you can drop a treat in front of them as you walk past etc. Kikopup on YouTube has lots of suggested training for young pups which is great fun (and beneficial). Most of all enjoy every moment of having a pup and take lots of photos! It's over so quickly when you look back. Enjoy your new baby :)

Dog Gets Too Excited About Visitors
Roova replied to Supermenki's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sheena's notes are probably fantastic so the only thing I would contribute is don't forget to train and praise what you do want, not just growl at what you don't want. If your dog isn't behaving as you want it shows he actually doesn't understand your expectations. Can you ask someone up to knock at the door and you have your dog on lead on the other side? They should remain outside while you begin by placing treats on the ground (which will encourage four on the floor) and praising for calm behaviour. Maybe keep it short and sweet to begin with and over time work your way up to the door opening, someone stepping inside, walking forward etc etc Lots of treats on the floor and praise for four on the floor. I would encourage guests to not acknowledge the dog in any way and build them up to gentle pats or words when he's being good only. Nothing that will get him excited and possibly jumping. Until he's completely reliable I wouldn't allow any off lead greets and I'd have plenty of treats at the ready for any future guests (who hopefully will be previously informed you need their help training your dog) so they don't misbehave themselves :D Good luck! -
So cute. There's some mischief right there!

I'll have ten thanks! Mmmm they look yum

Zig Passed His Novice Assessment
Roova replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You've obviously put a lot of work in so well done to you too! -
I love the idea of it but in reality I don't think I'd get as much work done if my dog was around. I feel like I'd be too drawn to interact with her or I'd be watching her with other people thinking don't let her jump up on you, or that's not how I ask her to drop etc

All of that sounds good to me! You might need to make some healthy human cookies to sell alongside the healthy doggy ones. :D

Ohhhh goodluck with your venture! If I buy treats I aim for as much natural products, as possible with limited or no preservatives. That can mean life expectancy is pretty short unless its dehydrated and this would change how many I might buy at once. Will they be available online? It would be good to know if the products can be frozen or should be eaten fresh. I would want to see every ingredient listed in the order of use. It would be nice to have a selection of grain or no grain. Ummm it would be good to have small dog size and large dog size as an option (if they can't be cut smaller). :)

Is it my imagination or is she smiling for the photo? She's a lovely looking girl :D

On the other end of the spectrum to a car I bought my girls a whole rabbit yesterday. They're illegal in QLD so quite hard to find but I found a butcher yesterday with rabbit for $20. I think it was well spent there isn't anything left lol

Sounds like you're going great guns! I'm enjoying reading how you're training is going, thanks for sharing :)

Hmmm I checked the Cairn Terrier club of Victoria and NSW and neither had a section for grooming. Maybe go through breeders websites and see if any have links to grooming videos etc? I would also see if you can find any dedicated forums where there is often lots of help on grooming. I was two states away from my dogs breeder and found verbal help can only get you so far. If you're closer you would be much better off having them as the expert show and coach you. Good luck!

My recent naughtiness is from Poppy... I planted a new plant and carefully popped the pot where I wanted it and watered it in. Poppy watched the whole process and once I was finished she gave it a good sniff and then went to bite the plant. I said NO, leave it which she's normally very good at so we both walked away. Go out five minutes later and there it is pulled out of the dirt but sitting on top of the pot! I kind of pictured her sticking two fingers up at me as she did this and walked away

I haven't used these services before but have been thinking about it as I'm due for a holiday soon. If someone was commng in to my home and I was trusting them with my beloved dogs I would expect to see police check documentation, references and I would also want a basic dog behavioural course completed. (Do they even have them?). By that I mean Id like to think they can recognise stress or anxiety behaviours etc like lip licking, body shake etc Good luck with your new venture!
