  1. Same! I just want to hug him and tell him he's not alone lol
  2. All cute but I especially love the little chocolate brown one. Be still my beating heart!
  3. How exciting, the time will crawl! The list can be endless but things which spring to mind are crate (size based on adult requirements), puppy play pen for unsupervised time inside), chew toys, soft tug type toys, boredom busters, treats for training if you're not going to use daily feed rations, Smaller soft crate for car travel and night time sleeping beside your bed (nightly toilet trips are much easier), Lead /collar/bowls Same food as pup currently on (so you can introduce change slowly) Various items to introduce puppy to different sounds, heights and textures if you want, A list of socialisation/neutralisation things to cover, hmmm I feel like there's a soo much more but can't think for the moment... Have fun with your new pup :)
  4. While you have long days would you consider a premade barf? Still raw but bought frozen so you just need to get each segment out the night before. It might make life a bit easier for you at the moment whilst still meeting your health requirements?
  5. I've learnt a lot from this thread, thank you for your question Willem. I've enjoyed reading all the suggestions but especially Mrs RB's. Everything you've said has struck such a cord with me, thank you!
  6. How great you have some professional photos of him! Cute story about him too :)
  7. Just wanted to say I agree, such good advice and thought provoking questions and really well written.
  8. Is she barking at the fence line or from a distance? We had to build a second inner fence to lessen excited barking and scrabbling on the fence line when the neighbours dog stands there barking . Luckily its only a small section of the back fence but it has made a big difference. There's nothing quite like the high pitched yap of an excited terrier is there!
  9. Oh.my.God!! Those photos are just gorgeous!
  10. If it was healthy to train with chips my dogs would be stars! I swear they can't hear me calling from the backyard but they can hear a chip packet open from 50 metres away  I use treats for 'serious' training and praise for inbetween stuff unless I find treats in a pocket. I LOVE teaching Poppy new tricks and I think she gets a lot of enjoyment from it too. I call tell which tricks she thinks get the most attention because she'll run through them if she wants attention or food. At the end I just clap and say 'all done' and hold my hands up. If Im kneeling down she puts her paws on my chest and I hug her. I could generally squish her to death at that point. :D
  11. I saw this on Facebook recently.. So true
  12. Bit sick of the box by then?
  13. I keep losing my posts so no links this time. Kikopup on youtube is great and Karen Pryor has a large website devoted to clicker training. You can lose yourself forever if you Google or YouTube 'clicker training'. Before you do anything, don't forget to charge or load the clicker (teach your dog why the click is desirable) but both the above sites cover this is their 'what is clicker training' section. Don't forget to treat EVERY single time you click too. Have fun, you and your dog are going to love it!
  14. I can only speak of my own experience but I did have the same problem. There's lots of approaches so hopefully you find what works for you and your dog. I ended up getting lessons from someone and it was great to have an outside view of what I had been doing wrong (basically everything). I'm not saying this training technique is right but it worked for me. I had to go back to basics and treat\praise for being in the right position, at heel. I had to stop dead and UHUH if she surged forward and she had to be back at my side before we moved forward again. Lots of praise for walking at my side. I also found it useful to use 'go sniff' as a reward for a good job so she had a moment to sniff and look around, then back to business. Im not too hard core though and half our walk now is ranging on a loose lead but when I say heel and tap my leg she moves back to position. Its been hard work and you have to be very consistent. Even when normally good, if she sees something interesting ahead she'll start walking quicker than me. If I stop dead she has to wall backward to get to my side so we can progress forward again. I can see she tries hard to have self control and walk at my pace although she still struggles at times especially at the beginning of the walk lol. Mostly she's great though and its such a joy loose leash walking compared to the yoyo I had! Good luck with your pooch :)
  15. Posting makes it real so post away lol Good luck!
  16. Thanks for the reminder pics Denali. Glad you got the tick quickly. Did you use a tick remover (the ones which look like a tiny bent two pronged fork) or do you have another removal method?
  17. Most pet barns sell BARF now although you might need to try a few brands to find one readily eaten by your puppy. There's some my dogs walk away from and some they eat straight away. I've only ever seen one marked as 'growth' so maybe keep an eye out or ring around first? I'm not 100% certain on the difference between growth and not though. Others could probably tell you more about feeding raw in other ways. Don't forget to make a gradual change from your puppies current diet to any new ones to avoid tummy upsets.
  18. He is a bundle of cute energy! Seems like not that long ago he was a weeny puppy.
  19. Sooo gorgeous, hopefully lots more photos as they grow? Nice range of colours in the one litter!
  20. Yikes! have you checked if you're getting the Generic or 'plain brand' version of that medication if it exists? Sometimes the price difference for the same medication is crazy.
  21. Wowser, they're great. I love that one with the deep red and even the cloud is outlined in red.
