  1. They're mesmerising eyes. I also keep looking at the M on his nose lol.
  2. Haha, he'd probably artfully posed it for you Helen and you hurt his feelings. Lovely photo Cougar although it's hard thinking of the chill of snow sitting in this heat! Edited to add I use photobucket (very simply though). There's lots of storage space and you simply click a link on the photo and paste in DOL.
  3. Wow, you are very clever! I love your photography...do you have a website or Instagram account?
  4. 2/52 I moved two Bromeliads a couple of months ago and one likes its new abode. Im using a work laptop at the moment and this photo straight from Photobucket appears HUGE! I'm normally on my phone so don't see this side of things. Is there a recommended size for posting or does anything go?
  5. Huga and Snook, what lovely photos!
  6. What a great idea. You might even be able to keep a slow kitty in that!
  7. I didn't want to appear like a crazy stalker either! Maybe the thread needs a rule list? 1. Thou does not need to post process 2. Let there be no judgement on stalkerish behaviour Etc. Lol
  8. Wow indeed! Nice capture.
  9. That looks awesome. I badly want to go in that door lol!
  10. 2/52 I haven't even thought of looking for apps, great idea! Assuming I can join, this is Poppy hanging with me in the garden this morning.
  11. Is it too late to join? I've missed the first week I've been debating whether to or not because I don't have a computer or editing software. Photos go from Camera to iPad to photobucket to here lol. I've been slack with the camera lately so I'm hoping this will enthuse me again. No particular theme though.
  12. Border terrier: Easy to remember because they were first bred in the Cheviot Hills near the border of England and Scotland. French bulldog : In summary... the toy or miniature versions of a British Bulldogs were taken by English Nottingham lace makers (out of work because of machinery) to France to continue working their craft. They were thought to have been crossed with terriers and pugs and the French Bulldog evolved.
  13. Good start! You have to be 100% consistent because if you give an inch they'll eventually take a mile. (Or if you give a centimetre they'll take a kilometre lol) If she's been really good you can start introducing a random reward like a 'go sniff 'moment where you stand still while she had a good sniff around. It's a good chance to practice your recall away from a distraction too, so be ready with praise /treats for a prompt return. :)
  14. Its one of the most gorgeous thread's, I reckon keep it going and going until there's grand puppies to share with us! Lol
  15. Wow, it doesn't seem like that long ago she was just a baby but I guess time flies!
  16. Awww what good doggies. What ever they think they're about to get must be pretty good!
  17. I would be suggesting praise and treats for being in the right position and start small (in a non distracting environment first). You can practice praise\treats when they're sitting at your side, then take one step forward and treat when they move to the right position. This can increase to two steps and so on. You want to have them getting it right in the house before moving outside, then the front yard, then the front street etc. If they do get distracted and pull when you're out there's a few options. One is to stop immediately you feel the lead go taught and give no forward movement until they're back in position. You could also change position so pup has to keep up with what you're doing. You can also practice when pup is sitting at your side, you move forward only when they look up and focus on your face. Another thing to practice at some point is off lead because what they do on lead may not equate to off lead! This can show you they may not understand the desire place for them to be, ie at your side. One they're quite reliable on the streets you can practice near other dogs or interesting things (but at a distance where pup still listens to you). You can then practice moving closer but recognising when you're too close for concentration. Disclaimer: Im not a dog trainer so please wait for more experienced replies than mine! Good luck too :D
  18. Not sure how tall your current ones are but what about Bunnings compost panels turned tall side up and cable tied together? Now your norty puppy has learnt the escape route you might have to get tricky yourself though lol. (Don't forget to create a gate to take them through rather than lifting over the top or they'll realise that's a way out).
  19. I was wary taking my new puppy to one but 'shopped around' and found one where the instructor did obedience and agility with her own dogs and was a vet nurse. She was great. Firm rules and no puppies off lead until the end of the night and even then you could remove your puppy if you didn't want free play. She answered questions and helped with problems like toilet training etc. She gave homework like feeling all over puppy, in ears, mouth etc and acclimatising puppy to being held firmly to be examined, restrained recall, sitting before exiting doors, sit-drop-stand etc and she tested everyone at the beginning of next session. I can't compare to other classes but I was pretty impressed!
  20. My sister has two oodles she adopted from the pound. I pushed the purebred avenue very strongly with all the usual arguments but she has a number of friends with oodles and was convinced that's what she wanted. She sat on the pound waiting list for at least six months! She's had her dogs for at least five years and I have to admit they are pretty awesome dogs. They dont have a mean bone in their body torward anyone or thing and they are awesome with the kids. She has them groomed regularly, they're walked and run daily but that's about it. No doubt a purebred would have done a good job too, but these guys have been wonderful family members. Unfortunately?? they've encouraged dogless friends to go for oodles and I can see why. I couldn't do it myself but I can understand the attraction. Even with a loss of predictability in looks they do seem to have gentle nature's across the board (well I haven't heard of many aggressive oodles anyway).
  21. What was his behaviour like on the walk in general and leading up to when he saw people approaching?
  22. I find it easier to upload my photos to photobucket then copy the image link here (if that helps).
