  1. My Rusky (malamute) lived with MR Mcguyver(cat) for 14 years they were the greatest of friends. When Rusky was a pup MG always had puppy dinner on his head
  2. no allergies here but thanks Ptolomy !! My Mr Guinness is also doing very well and isn't going to see Deb till May
  3. Carolyn is a good friend of mine I just thought Clarkson is north of the stump Sure come down here .. excellent TAP time http://trainapuptime.com/
  4. Joondalup ...not affiliated great people excellent classes http://www.joondalupdogtraining.com.au/ don't send her to vets for preschool, rake the suggestions on here and Helena is the show trainer, everyone goes to her
  5. are you in the city Ivy ? I have one here you can have pm me :0 purchased for my Rusky who passed away last year, we didn't use it much, if it will fit you are welcome to it
  6. it was the people who came early in the morning to set up,it was offered as a reward
  7. Did his doctors tell him it was caused by secondhand smoke? no they would not have told him that and I don't know either of them. I am happy he has a good prognosis.
  8. thanx aussielover.. they are cheeky arent they and very clever!! How was your trip? I bet you missed mindy liked crazy and gave her big hugs ;) and lots of walks ;) when you got back please don't muzzle your dog when you can't see her, this advice is very scary. You allow her in but won't allow her into the bedroom ? so why not train her to lie on a mat outside your bedroom, you can use a baby gate while you train her. Train her to go to mat ...do it in the living room then extend to outside the bedroom. She is lonely, upset and wants company. As soon as she feels secure she will stop this behaviour. Put treats on her mat to encourage her to go to mat and to stay there, reward her with praise and treats while you are training her and then you can just praise her once she gets the idea. Teaching a dog to go to mat is easy and rewarding.
  9. I have often said train a BC not to eat random food and it will die of starvation in a home situation, train a malamute not to eat random food and it will comply for a bit...then it is a free for all, survival and independence is the real key to dog intelligence.
  10. :D Helen was great wasn't she ? she helped me too with Mr G's start line which is now driving me nuts.
  11. those non doggy people think we are crazy, they do get dogs though those dogs were meant to be born perfect
  12. why does someone say these dogs are not suitable as pets, what a total crock. They didn't even try, didn't even blink. They are money makers, no use for them so kill them. Held in his arms my arse ;) :D :D Anf don't anyone come on here and say they aren't suitable as pets...I met a guy on the plane who has 25 dogs, he rehomes as pets if they can't run endurance. He breeds the dogs, trains the dogs, loves the dogs. Working dogs, even police dogs can live as pets. Poor poor dogs I am so bloody mad
  13. They will tell us as soon as they can. This from the WA member at a trial on Saturday.
  14. There is a petition I just signed it. Now we all know that petitions can be a waste of time but overseas outrage may just help. The SPCA want a prosecution in Malaysia. They struggle, and for that reason I signed. I don't want this to die a death, let us try to support animal groups in Asia, let Sushi be remembered. I couldn't sleep last night when I saw this on facebook. I couldn't watch, I looked away. I cried with frustration at not being able to help the already dead minature poodle. Please consider signing the petition and circulate to dog friends. They don't have to watch. http://www.petitiononline.com/SOSSushi/petition.html they have another dog
  15. I assume that the people wanting different languages are prepared to become judges here are a few for them to learn to get them going http://www.talkingtails.com/command.html feel sorry for Ukraine and note that Canada is a dual speaking country, many Canadians do speak French, many Canadians send their Children to French schools even though English is their first language. All packages, messages are written in both languages. It actually would be impossible not to learn some French in Canada, we only lived there a couple of years and my schoolgirl French improved a lot. The language of dog obedience in Australia is English.

    Lucky

he really was a "Lucky" boy, Horus bless you for making this boys retirement years his best years, his loved years. Run free now Lucky
  17. I would have hugged him and sent him a gift for taking care of my dog, the owner of the dog doean't give a rats. Poor dog
  18. NO and I would be the person at the beach blasting him for transporting his dog like that ? Would he transport his child like that ? maybe he would as he doesn't seem to have much between the ears.
  19. I suppose that having judges learn a host of different language commands is one way to completely lose your ANKC judges, we are short enough already so why not ? I really think that it is much easier for the handler to teach basic commands in English here in Australia than for your judges to learn several languages. We now have a suggestion of Aboriginal language off you go chaps ...for your licence to be approved you have to learn basic commands in every competing country in the world and an additonal 200 plus native languages
  20. there are more than 200 Aboriginal languages in Australia
  21. It takes a couple of weeks for a rescue to settle in their new home, often issues can show up that didn't in the the foster home or shelter because you have a new set of people. One thing I stress to people is to form a bond and that doesn't mean being soft and emotional, it means establishing guidelines , manners and getting to know where they are in the new home. I think you are doing a great job and I honestly think you have initially confused aggression with bouncy excitement. The swim is fantastic and good luck with your training classes, lucky dog to find such a great new home ps don't pull back on the halti, it is self correcting, practice at home in the garden so you don't use any pressure
  22. And you were still one of the last to leave after the lights went out Last night was awesome, thanks so much Rusky for organising and I really hope we raised a lot of funds! :D I managed to cram a bit in last night but would have liked to do one more jumping round with Ruby. I did an Open obedience round with both girls, a novice jumping course (with weavers) with Ruby, novice agility with Millie (proud of her! we didn't execute the weaves very well as she was only 1 day into actually weaving all 12 but the rest was good!), did the tunnel challenge with Millie, then a novice agility round with bedazzled's Brooklyn - soooo much different to handle than my girls (obviously!) Where I have plenty of time to get a front cross in with my girls, I was too late with him, causing him to knock a bar. He was a lot of fun, hopefully you'll let me run him again bedazzled :D Well done Candice and Mason on their CCD round, it was lovely to watch!! I didn't get to watch your CCD round mirawee but you said it was good so yay I did some heelwork with Ruby in a ring by ourselves and she worked beautifully, but couldn't execute the same with a judge. I think we both just can't perform well with a judge, too much pressure and distraction I have a personal challenge I need to overcome, and that is my ring nerves to get the best out of my dogs!! we raised what I thought was a good bit of money which is going to MDBA PACERS. Final not tallied yet but over 3 grand not bad with less than a week to organise. What I loved the most was all the sports getting together..obedience people having a go at tunnels and agility people doing obedience rounds and Rally O. I heard a few people remarking on how well their dogs had gone for them in an untrained area...very exciting :D I think one of the funniest was getting you guys to leave your dogs in stay position during the round to come and pick up a raffle prize RS Thanks WA dog community...you rock
