I know the stuff you are talking about... we used to use it on our lab at my mums place. Thanks
-
I actaully use the fidos everyday shampoo and it hasn't been a problem before but that could be due to what ever is making him itch has happened recently, I mean way after I bathed him last. I will have a look at the Ech sooth and also I have heard aloveen is very good or malsab.
-
Thnks for that. I am going to bath him tonight after I go buy some new shampoo. Em

He was bathed about 3 Saturday's ago and advantage was put on. I was going to bath him Sunday but it was a pretty cold day so I was going to wait until this weekend. Taco isn't itchy at all. Pollens and spring may have something to do with it.

Hi! Last night Buckley was licking and scratching around his feathers on his back legs and his back area. We had a look and it seems to be these little scab/flakey things with these read tiny spots that are not raised. I thoroughly checked him for fleas and couldn't find one or any flea dirt. I have had a bit of a think and maybe the tick collar I put on him on saturday may be aggrevating him so I took it off or that maybe I didn't wash the shampoo out well enough but I am pretty thorough with that. Is there a special antibacterial/ antifungal shampoo that I could use. I don't think it is diet related as he has been on Eukanuba and barf now for about 4 months and no reaction b4 this?

I got Taco a friend. They have heaps of toys to play with and each other to amuse themselves with. The do however find sponges fun to rip up all over the yard. I reckon but, they sleep 80% of the day!!!!! Just have a variety of toys arounf for her and ask the neighbour to keep an eye on her the first couple of days!!!

Hi! My mums Lab has this problem and it flares up quite severly in winter. We took him to the vet and she prescribe "Metacame"(could be spelt different though). It is an anti-inflamatory that you give based on weight through a syringe (no needle) in their food or straight in their mouth. It works amazing and so it should... about $90 for 6 week supply. My mum also gives him cartlege tablets for arthritis from the chemist. Same sort of thing... give on weight. I think they are between $15-$30 for a tub. The vet actually recomends these aswell. The other product you could try is "sashas blend" which you can buy without a consulation and I think even some pet shops /produces sell them aswell. It is suppose to be really good. Do you have a heat pad or hot water bottle you could put in his bed/beanbag? Good Luck and I hope he starts to feel better.

I have this problem with taco aswell. He will just go and munch on some grass and then he throws up.

I am from Brisbane too!!! If you live near Paddington, the sell them at The "purebred Pet panty". They are $11.95 or $12.95 for 12 patties any flavour you want!!!!!!

HI! I know its so confusing. I basically brought a pack of the BARF hamburger looking patties nearly 2 weeks ago. I just defrost one and feed 1/3 to Taco and 3/4 to Buckley mixed with some natural yoghurt. They get this 3 times a week and the rest of the time they have dry food Eukanuba but Science Diet at the moment and they get a bone each on the weekends. It seems to work for my 2 but hey I am not expert. I think aswell, you and your vet know your dog the best and can probably come up with a talored eating plan. Em

I may just have to give it a try.... pantry with human food looking pretty low at the moment!!!

We have had a breakthrough!!!! OMG!!! When I got home last night, I held one of the biscuits (SD) out for Taco and Buckley and they had a sniff and to my suprise ate it!!!!! Then they started to eat it from the bowl. I had about 1 1/2 cups of Eukanuba left when I went out to buy some more so I mixed that in but the instructions on the back did say for about 7 days to do that but as I only had a little left I mixed it in like that... as my intention was to buy Eukanuba. I haven'y noticed any upset tummy, running poos or vomits yet. I am going to the vet tonight for Taco's injections and both of them are having a check up so I will ask my vet what she reckons and will prpbaly buy another bag of Eukanuba. The pieces are so much smaller for little Taco and Buckley.

Ta everyone. I sent the docket in yesturday so hopefully it will be processes and I will get my money back soon. I will try and mix it in again but they just sniff it and walk off. I will give to my mum when I get another bag of Eukanuba for them. Silly mummy... she should have just bought the eukanuba!!!! That's probably what they boys are thinking!!!!!

Hey! I think that I may have made a wrong choice. I have changed my dogs dry food in the last 6 weeks. I wanted to buy Eukanuba but the shop I was at had run out and the guy suggested that I buy a bag of IAMS and then when he had stock buy the Eukanuba. Anyway, bag of IAMS gone, brought a bag of EUKANUBA and it ran out on Sunday and I had nothing to do so me and my sis andher fiance went to this produce store. I was lining up with the bag of Eukanuba and the 2 people behind the counter said that I should buy the Science diet because if you brought it and sent into your receipt you got your money back. It was an offer that was running. I contemplated on this for quite some time because it was only the 2kg senstive stomach and senstive skin variety. I asked them would this upset my dogs tummys, how big were the pieces and they said it would be fine. It's not!!!! They hate it and not to mention the fact that it is an orange/mustard colour and looks gross. They also suggested to soak the biscuits if they were too big or didn't eat it. I acn't believe I brought it!!!!!!! I am buying a bag of Eukanuba tommorow night and I think I am going to give the bag of Science diet to my mums maltese who has senstive skin and hopefully he will eat it. What do you think???

Good to hear!!!! :D let us know what happens!!!! GoodLuck

ok, basically you have to balance your time tommorow. You said in your earlier post that the vet shuts at 2. So you have from say what 8.00am till 2.00pm to get there. Thats got to be on the first and most important thing to do for the dog. Inflamed gums a. Is a MAJOR sign that there is pain b. Growling when you tried to clean his teeth is a sign of pain This could also save you alot of $$$$ in the VERY NEAR FUTURE as what may be $200 job could turn into a $500 plus job. Plus it is the same in humans, tooth infections and gum infections can travel straight to the HEART and other organs and you said he has a HEART condition. Surely their must be another vet near you???
-
Um, there is nothing else to do except TAKE HIM TO THE VET first thing in the morning. Teeth and mouth conditions are very painful and are usually only can be treated successfully by having the teeth cleaned properly by the vet under aneasetic. And then proper feeding and bones helps treat the condition. Cleaning them yourself (even if he let you do it) would do nothing as the build up of tartar can only be removed by the special machine they use and that's why they do it while they are asleep. No offense here but if your mum had a saw mouth or tooth would she go to the dentist????
-
Ok, now I know what your talking about.
-
What is a Prong collar and what does it do? Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this topic
-
My 2 are only small so they get Lamb Brisket bones. I feed them 1. For their teeth 2. Fat content (brisket bones high fat) 3. Treat.... the love them Even Taco will eat them now instead of hiding them, digging them up and rolling on them Havn't had a worm problem though.

Hi! Don't know much on aglity or anything but you could try and find a buddy with a dog that your dog gets along with and go for walk together. May find it more interesting with a buddy and more inclined to continue.

love the ears alibear

Is that the purina one or purina pro? I do feed the chicken and rice purina one (supemarket one) alot and I don't know if it is that or just the boys themselves but their coats are very shinny and healthy looking and people comment on that all the time.
