  1. Oh so tired! Out in the cold and rain 8 times to try toilet training, with 1 big pooh outside only. But 3 small pee inside
  2. Wow, fantastic responses, thanks! We live 500m from All Creatures Great & Small, so it is good to hear good things about them! I assume they will be good for all general vet care as well? The reason for artificial grass is that our fenced house is all paved. Outside the fence, we have a large lawn verge, but as that is public access, I am worried about the pup (Kahlua) being not 100% vaccinated. This verge / footpath area may see about 5 dogs walk past per day - should I let Kahlua out there (on leash) for toilet?
  3. There were some Labradors x poodles in WA, but the few I found were either BYB, pet shops, or some such. A few of the local ones would describe their puppies as a Lab cross with a Poodle, and maybe with some other gene in it. Whereas the distinction to a multigen Australian labradoodle is that they are more selective in their breeding (at least that's what I have read). There was a breeder here which sounds like they do the right thing, but they seem quite new at it and from memory only had minis. We are not even an allergic family, nor too concerned about the designer factors to the breed. It is just a dog we love! But enough about that - as the rules says we shouldn't talk too much about cross breeds... I get the feeling it could be the same breeder as is coming from Perth, Launceston, TAS to Perth in WA. We have driven through the Perth in TAS a few years ago as well. The cost of flying (as organised by the breeder) by Vigin Blue from Launceston to Perh was $300 Inc GST. The whole excercise was not cheap, but we felt a lot more comfortable spending 3 times more with this, than walking into the pet store.
  4. I did read the rules (at least skimmed it) and saw that part - hence an holding back talking about the breed of my dog But I still don't know how to call him on this forum. He's not exactly a Labrador x Poodle Nor a Labrador x Maybe I better stay out of this forum
  5. Kahlua is flying all the way from Launceston to Perth tomorrow morning. Hope he likes air travel!
  6. Our family's first dog will be landing in Perth tomorrow. We have done a whole lot of reading and watching youtubes, but still have lots of questions. I will start with these; 1. To clicker train or not to? It seems there are 3 main schools of training (Traditional including punishment, positive enofrcement, and clicker). I realise there are crossover etc, but should we start with the clicker from day 1? 2. The breeder (whom I have researched as much as I could) stated: "has had his 1st vaccination his 2nd is due on 5th August. He has also had a Kill Parvo vaccination early this month so he can be taken out in public places and mix with other dogs when you receive him.". Would you feel safe to do so? 3. If the puppy learns to evacuate on artificial grass for the next few weeks, would there be a problem for him to learn to do so on real lawn later? 4. Does anyone know of good puppy school near South Perth area?
