Hi. I am new to this forum and Im hoping some-one can help me. Whilst browsing the threads the other day I noticed that some dog trainers put their logos/banners on their profiles. I clicked this trainers link and went to their web-site. I liked what I saw/read and would like to get in touch with this trainer in regards to some problems we have with CoCo. Now here is the part where I kick myself for not writing the trainers name down. Im hoping some other members may know this trainer and can give me their details. All I can tell you is there is a female and male trainer and they are based in Geelong, Melbourne. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Im with stonecutter on this. I use boiling water as well. It is quite a slow process as you have to keep waiting for the kettle to boil (if you have lots of weeds) but it kills them almost instantly, and very dog friendly provided they dont get near you while you are pouring.

Hi. In regards to the Lectric soda crystals.....at Safeway supermarkets it is in the laundry section. Only thing I suggest is to keep it in an air tight container as I have had open bags of it go rock hard.

Hi. Thought I would share our luxating patella experience. It may help. Last December CoCo had tibial crest transpositioning (TCT) surgery for a grade 4 luxated patella. Her patella had luxated medially and became lodged there. The following is from the Specialists report after surgery. "CoCo had bony and soft tissue alterations such that the patella is now located in a more correct anatomical position. Two pins have been used to pin the tibial crest (knee cap insertion site) in a more appropriate position. The groove the patella lies in has been deepened and the joint structures on the lateral (outside of the joint) have been tightened." It was quite a big operation and CoCo stayed overnight. It also wasnt cheap $2900.00 and we had only just joined pet health insurance so werent covered. I dont know if pet insurance companies consider this to be a "bi-lateral" condition or not. Post op CoCo had to be crated/playpen for 6 weeks. No running, jumping, stairs etc AT ALL. She had to be ON LEAD when we took her out to the toilet. She could put weight on her leg after the 2nd day but we carried her outside for a few days, then would let her walk (on lead) to the toilet herself....extremely slowly. We had to lift her up/down the back step. As far as medication goes she was on Cephalexin, Metacam and had a Fentanyl patch. After the all clear from the specialist after 6 weeks we slowly re-introduced exercise/length of walks. She is fine now (other than HD) and runs stupid. As her knee structure has been altered, it has affected her gait. Her knee tends to turn out when she walks. Good luck, I hope it all goes well.

Hi. Hope you all dont mind me adding... This is a frog sit, and yes, CoCo has hip dysplasia I cant say whether it is a wives tale or not. Hope this helps. It was a fairly big operation, and quite $$$. CoCo was kept overnight. She had to be crated/playpen for 6 weeks and was only allowed to walk ON LEAD to the toilet - no running, jumping. stairs etc etc. As the structure on her knee has changed (her knee turns outwards slightly) it causes her to walk with an altered gait. As far as recovery goes - she was putting a little weight on it the day after and didnt really have a lot of trouble getting out to toilet. We did have to lift her down/up the back step though. Medication wise she was on cepalexin (anti-biotic) Metacam (pain relief) and also had a transdermal Fentanyl patch for 4 days. Hope it all goes well for you.

Hi. Both my 2 are on Canidae Grain free ALS and they love it. I didnt put them on this for any reason other than it was better than what they were eating. I did have trouble tracking it down but fortunately one of the pet shops near me carries it. I wouldnt say its cheap but then as with anything, you get what you pay for. When I switched my 2 over I did it gradually over approx 2 weeks. Never had any problems. Good luck.
