Hes a great looking dog but if he has had so many homes, other than no pocket pets, are there other behavioural or training issues? or has the poor love just had the worst run of luck with bad owners? There are heaps of samoyed breeders in Oz - You are in SA ? have you tried contacting the Samoyed club of South Australia? they help out with rescues if you are looking for a home for this boy. and theres 3 samoyed breeders in SA on the main dogzonline page too

How did you guys go with this poor girl ? temperament wise the Pyrs seem a little similar to Samoyeds ( independent! and liable to give you the finger if they dont feel like obeying!)
-
poor dog - I regularly get "kissed" on the face by excited boxers or labs in my local park its just what they do sometimes... ANYWAY! wheres the strangers own "duty of care" - HE approached the dog not the other way round! so sad

call Today Tonight or ACA as well.... on second thought dont bother - the type of person that does this would get a thrill out of seeing themselves on telly

Double Lab Love - have you spoken to your neighbours? Do they know their dog will be killed on Friday ? Edited to add : your neighbour may re-think putting their dog in the pound and take it home again to try to find it a new home. They must have had a glimmer of guilt about getting rid of it - hence the lying about the RSPCA to your partner - seriously ... if they wanted it put down why didnt they take it straight to the vet instead of making the poor dog suffer in the pound !
-
So sad to hear about this story - I think this poor dog is on the PTS list for this Friday - Hopefully someone can foster until a forever home is found Wish I was in NSW I would go and pick him up right now poor pup

http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/231301-nsw-blacktown-pound-week-beginning-191211/page__st__60 Are you sure this isnt the Blacktown POUND not the RSPCA? I know of the area and didnt think they had a branch there ? And in the rescue section on this forum there is a young Australian Cattle Dog in the pound there: ID number 07816 I really hope someone can help - what a shame !

sticky Elastoplast heat packs ( I think Nurofen do a brand now too) - wear a tight vest or t shirt and attach it to the back for sale in most supermarkets now as well as chemists

Theres a lady on Gumtree in Perth under the "free" section that lives in a rental property but wants to walk dogs for free in the area just to spend time with some dogs Dianella where she is, right next to Morley you have to email her direct from the Gumtree website

during walks in the neighbourhood my two have seen a few cats lurking around front doors / under cars / bushes, Now they think every bucket, tree stump, rock, plant pot, that is dark in colour and vaguely cat size, is a cat ..... can you get prescription glasses for dogs ? might make them look more intelligent too :D

What about studying for jobs with animals only on the periphery of your work? Environmental Officer ( on the mines they do occasional rescue ) AND this opens up many fields of work. Customs Officer / Quarantine Local Government - Ranger State Government - Department of Environment and Conservation AND if youre arty - Photography? If youre able to sell - marketing degree would help : Heres a sales rep job in Perth: http://www.jobsjobsjobs.com.au/sales-jobs/sales-execrepresentative-sales-animal-health-veterinary-pet-care-95k-circa/1806558

hoping some experienced breeders / doggy people can point me in the direction of some good books to buy for a family thinking about adopting a dog. They have 2 children 6 and 8 years old and the 8 year old is dog mad and will be reading too so kid friendly reading care type books would be great.

two speed economy in WA & Perth is a huge problem Whilst it may be ok to get by on $32K pa in other states, Perth particularly is a problem when rents are creeping up all the time - a very average house in an outer suburb will set you back minimum $300 PW ( I assume you want space for your dog to run around ) - thats most of your wages if you arent sharing with anyone tiff - I still think you should do what you love, but stay with your parents if you can and save up a deposit for a house - renting for years is not going to get you ahead if you plan to stay in Perth Do the basic admin type study too - learning MYOB etc will get you ahead for most vet practices as some have said here. ANYWAY - if you have a Bachelor in Marketing why dont you study to be a vet ( just a thought! )
