  1. Oh yay!! Sending good trouble free whelping vibes your way!! Will keep checking in to see how things are progressing. Im currently sitting next to my crew having a feed and they all sound like frogs when it rains! They're getting cuter by the second and are starting to have a little 'play' with each other!
  2. 9 but one mummy puppy and one very small stillborn
  3. Holy crap Sway that is hilarious - I can sympathise with you giant breed breeders - I have horses - BIG ones - enough said! We grew up with danes and they still have a special place in my heart - Now if only the OH would let me have more dogs - he seems to think two GSP's will be enough. Little does he know I want at least one of each colour! I know what you mean about the pet owners doing the whole WTF! When I go out with horse friends during breeding season we can be sitting in a coffee shop talking about semen, AI and whether or not a stallion can get it up and in the right place - When you notice the room has gone quiet and the people around you are looking like we're very disturbed people you realise that it's not necessarily considered a 'normal' conversation topic - well except for us!
  4. Chocolate my GSP did the same to me - had really no idea if she was or if she wasn't until she was about 7 weeks 'ish' and the biggest giveaway was that one day she just got really tired about half way through her normal walk, in the 3 days after that she got fat, milk came in and she barely moved off her bed! Kept us guessing for a long time!
  5. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww underfoot they are so cute!!! Thanks so much for the piccies can't wait to see them as they grow older! Good luck for the rest of the July litters yet to come!
  6. Oh dear Britt - you're right - never again! I have had two more 'I want that one' and have had to AGAIN explain that i'm sorry but I cannot guarantee you a particular puppy. The pups need to be much older and we will then have an idea of their personality and suitability for each prospective owner. Then, and only then I will decide if I have a puppy that is suitable for you. I explain how important it is to me that my pups go to homes where they will be an enjoyable and suitable addition to the family where they will be forever and that their colour and sex will not be the determining factors. I personally cannot believe people would actually choose a puppy from a picture!! I would want to see them, see how they interact and get an idea of their temperament etc before even contemplating picking one....ARGHHH!!! You live you learn I guess - I can only take what I learn this time around and remember it for the next litter (i'm going to write it down too so that I REALLY don't forget!!)
  7. zzztop i'm so sorry to hear about your little ones - I missed your post earlier. Ours are really starting to get up and about - they are super cute and we are starting to get a sense of their personality a bit more. Here are some pictures of them at 2 weeks of age Underfoot - I want to see dally puppies!!!! Yarrowfell- GORGEOUS!!! Have we had any pointers yet?
  8. My littlest was the first to open eyes too! Will post some new pics soon - they are all so gorgeous I have no idea how to pick just ONE!
  9. We have eyes starting to open now and it looks as if it's good timing, our big girls are HUGE and are going to be needing more than milk very soon so I think solids aren't too far away - poor Mia is needing more and more time out and they are getting pretty rough while nursing so she's still feeding but i think the appearance of teeth might be the last straw!!!
  10. We're lucky the lumps are well and truly gone and as of monday Mia is off the AB's. Vet is really happy with how the pups are going but we also don't want them going downhill. We're giving them two feeds of the lectade tonight and have some scourban for tomorrow if things aren't better by then. I'll look into the protexin. I can't wait to see all these litters coming in the next little while, it's scary to think we're getting so close to august litters!
  11. Yeah I think it's Mia's AB's that did it, i've been giving her yoghurt but she's not 100% keen on eating it either which isn't helping. Hopefully we'll get it sorted. Just went in and after they'd fed 3 more had a bit of a walk! So cute!
  12. They are so gorgeous Alyosha! They look like big babies! Mine are coming along well other than some persistant runny poo - oh yeah don't you love that sour milk smell!! Off the vets today to just check them out - all putting on lots of weight and looking well - not dehydrated at all but just don't want it to go on too long. One of the big black girls is up and walking a bit which was very exciting - I just can't wait for them to open their eyes. They're just so cute - I get nothing done at the moment - they're such time wasters - I could watch them for hours!
  13. Ok I'm glad it's not just me then! I too don't even know who is getting what yet except the one boy, I don't even know which one I'm keeping! I'm glad you've all said the same thing - I feel much better about my decision and am definitely going to stick to it. Being the first litter this was always going to be hard but you're right. I know these pups, i've put so much time and effort into them and I want to be sure they're going to the right home.
  14. We have some absolutely LOVELY people on our waiting list who are super keen, know exactly what they want their pup for, have a preference for this colour/sex but are prepared to be guided by us as to what pup suits them and their family. Want a pup to be part of the family, take for walks on the beach everyday, do agility, take out fishing/hunting and are in the process of building kennels, getting prepared and are just LOVELY people. I also have the whole, I want a liver female.....as I have explained many times if I can give them their preference I will but do they have any thoughts about being intersted in another pup if the liver female is not available (I only have one!!!) or unsuitable? Plus they aren't even 2 weeks old yet and they haven't even seen them except for photos, plus we don't know what their personalities are like yet either! I'm trying so hard here but I really want people who want a pup, not just a colour or sex. I want these pups to go to the very best homes (and luckily I have a few of those!). I remember going to look at the litter I got my girl from. I was so sure I wanted a really lively liver and white girl to do agility with and be my general best friend. Got there and looked at the liver and white girls and they were lovely. BUT this little black girl with a white chest just caught my eye, and she kept catching my eye, then I was looking at one of the liver boys, and then there was still this little black girl I kept coming back to - and she was just meant for me! In the end I just couldn't contemplate having any of them but her - and she has been the absolute light of my life since. These people are offering pet homes and from what I know from speaking to them they sound like lovely homes - otherwise they wouldn't be on my list. EXCEPT they seem to only want to consider a particular sex/colour. Does anyone else have problems like this? What do I do? They do sound like lovely people. I would love to be able to give them exactly which one they want but obviously they can't all have the same one and I really need to be sure that the pup's temperament is suitable for them too. I dont' want them to end up with an over the top pup that frightens their kids or alternatively a submissive pup that is frightened of their kids! What do all you very experienced breeders do in these situations? I don't want to offend anyone or upset them but my pups come first and their future is absolutely paramount to me.
  15. zzztop - sorry for the little ones that didn't make it. I hope you and your girl and the babies have a much better night and get some much needed rest.
  16. Hey Guys, My crew are doing well! Our littlest has caught up and we have two HUGE girls! One of our girls has only up on 14g today which is a bit less than usual, we had dewclaws friday so i'm hoping she's not brewing any infection but will keep a close eye on her. Have attached some pics, don't you LOVE our 'love heart' puppy. They are all so gorgeous and I love them so much I have no idea how to choose just one to keep! Love Heart Puppy Cutie Liver Girl Mum and the kids One of the big girls! The Liver boy (I think?) Mia is now a super relaxed mum and all is settled!
  17. Hi Guys, Can't wait to see those puppies Marinapoint and zzztop! Ours are going in for dewclaws today, they are looking so well and putting on lots of weight too which is good. Even the little boy almost reached 400g last night . Poor Mia is a bit thin but she's got all the food in the world that she wants. Mixed some of her regular food up today with some egg and her vitamin powder and she gobbled that down and have some plain rice for her for later. Trying everything to keep weight on her! She's not a hugely solid girl at the best of times but we'll just make sure she's got food if she wants it I guess. Yarrowfell, I wish Mia would roll over on her back like that, it's so cute and soooooo convenient! Hope they're all doing well for you. I haven't seen any cav or vizsla pics lately but I hope they're all coming along nicely too!
  18. Sorry about your baby that didn't make it. Congrats on the rest though! Can't wait to see pics!
  19. Hi Guys, Mum and bubs doing well,Have finally managed to get individual pics up on our website www.jetpointgsp.com Mia isn't sore and is happy to take the antibiotics. We've seen the end of the diarrhoea yesterday morning which was great and all the bubs are thriving. They're all sleeping at the moment after a good feed. I'll try the yoghurt but she can be a bit funny about what she eats sometimes. LOVES her regular dry dog food, HATES anything wet or canned, LOVES cucumber, pears, apples, carrots etc. Go figure, anyhow all are looking well thank goodness, she's so much more relaxed with them now, has figured out how to get them where she wants them and will put one of the big ones in it's place if it gets a little too enthusiastic. When she's in there with them all she doesn't look worried anymore she's just chilling out while they have a feed which is a huge relief for me :D . Mind you, she still loves and needs her time out, she's sun-baking at the moment while they're all in the box sleeping. Jerojath they are super gorgeous, an aunt had a vizslas which we just loved, If it wasn't for a certain GSP we might well have ended up with a vizsla. Yarrowfell i'm so looking forward to seeing your puppies, i bet they'll be super cute! Hope it all goes well and i'm sending positive whelping vibes your way!
  20. Well we've all put weight on and are above birth weight now. 2 dropped between birth and yesterday but all are up again today. Vet had a look at them and was happy with them and mia's milk supply so I'm feeling better. Mia is doing really well with the pups now so it's less to stress about now!! I know i over worry about things but as you all do too i just couldn't bear it if anything happened to my Mia or those lovely pups!
  21. YAY jerojath!! Of all the days I wasn't watching the forum!! 5 is great! Yours are big babies. My biggest was 400g at birth and my smallest 285g but hes a little pocket rocket so I wasn't too worried about him, I just make sure he gets a teat first and they've all gained weight since yesterday, 2 dropped on day 2 but are back up above birth weight today. Had a trip to the vet today as we have sOme lumpy hard tissue near the very back teats plus a reddened area near each.,.,,?mastitis? Vet said it's early so we can't be sure but it's definitely not completely normal and it's best to give the antibiotics and be sure than to let it get worse. Said pups are all looking great though and so is mum. Can't wait to see pics jerojath! Now we wait for zzz and pugs!
  22. Mia hasn't seemed to have any problems feeding the pups so far and afterwards they lay together looking 'milk drunk' and are quiet and sleeping. Im' taking this as a good sign that they're getting enough for now, is this right? HOWEVER - there are a couple of pretty big girls who are drinking a lot and I noticed after they fed just a little while ago while I was looking for another nipple for one of the smaller ones, that some were a bit 'empty'. Now as i'm not all that experienced in this field (Horses i've got under control - dogs - i'm learning!) I'm not sure if this is 100% normal and by the time they've rested she'll be fine again or if there should be more left over? If someone can help me out with this that would be great! It's now Day 3 and i'm thinking should I try some fenugreek as obviously the pups are only going to get bigger and need more! So where do I get it from, what do I do with it and how much do I give? I appreciate all the advice i've received so far and am soaking it all up!
  23. Underfoot, we just left food out for Mia all the time and she ate when she wanted. She usually does this anyone because she only eats what she needs and will leave the rest for when she's hungry again - no danger of this one getting overweight!
  24. Ah jerojath! Not in the dark! Fingers crossed she does something for you soon. Spoke to another breeder who said that bitches sometimes get loose anyway from toileting the pups. She seems ok so I'm hoping all will go well from here.
