Help! 6 Day Old Puppies Vomiting/crying

I'm not sure if this helps at all or is the thing to do in this situation but when Mia's milk was a bit rich for pups and they got an upset tummy our vet recommended giving them a feed of Lectade every second feed to rest their tummy? I'm sure you've checked with your vet though and you are doing everything you possibly can already. -
Help! 6 Day Old Puppies Vomiting/crying

Oh Hilaryo i'm so sorry. This breeding business is so hard and heartbreaking at times isn't it. I was very lucky with my last litter that we got through all our little problems, diarrhoea (from mum's AB's) etc. but it's just so hard when you love them so much and are doing everything you can to keep them safe and well. I have everything crossed for you, I hope all goes well from here on in. -
I know - i'm DYING to know - the suspense is killing me - Almost as much as waiting for my own pups!
-
Go Poms!!!
-
Yay nevafollo!!! Can't wait to hear what you have!! After so much nothing going on it sounds like you're all going to have them today !!
-
I'm hoping the fact that nevafollo hasn't posted means her pups are arriving!! Well you never know - I disappeared all day when Mia had hers!!
-
I like the sound of that sway!! I'm noting down the sliding door on my list of recommendations!
-
she's a pointer....they're ALMOST as good as the German Shorthaired kind BIG to nevafollo!!! Can't wait to see them!!!
-
I was a bit like you SparkyTansy - everything out and ready. Although it was good to have a small room just for Mia and the pups (heating wise - winter litter -6 the morning they were born!) in future when I build my next house I'm going to factor into a room that I will have whelping going on in there and make sure i've got plenty of room to move around and perhaps design myself a bigger whelping box.
-
Ohhhh i've got everything crossed for you!!! Keep us up to date!! Can't wait to see Pointer babies! I'm also hoping you'll have a civilised hour for whelping. Although mine didn't start until 6am the all night restlessness didn't do much for replenishing sleep for me!

Well my girls are well and truly going to be spoilt this x-mas!! But what is x-mas for other than spoiling the ones you love?? Still not mentioning how much has been spent to OH - what you dont know can't hurt you!!
-
awwwwwwwwwwwwwww SO adorable!!!! I'm very lucky that the only kids I have are the 4 legged kind - I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to. They even deliver groceries now!!! My girl went on day 63....I was dreading having her go over! Mind you it was a natural mating (and given how well it went we only did it once) and I dont' know exactly when she ovulated so I was just going on 63 days from that mating.
-
Oooo Isqueaks I'll have to add them then!! Got a few kongs and wubbas as well plus some water toys for my pup who I can't keep out of water!!
-
Nevafollo, the temp testing drove me nuts just like you! That is how I knew my girl was ready to go though, I went to put her into bed (she was resting peacefully with me prior to that, only a couple of digging around in her bed sessions the day before and maybe one that day) and she got upset when I went to go to my bed, so i moved in with her that night and sure enough we had our first pup at 6am after a VERY restless night. She desperately wanted to go to her kennel - was not at all interested in the whelping box she'd spent the last week in....hair pulling out moments galore.
-
oh dear, I've just discovered clean run today.. I went to the toy section - I mean afterall, my kids need something for X-mas now don't they! (My kids have 4 legs!!) before I place my order any recommendations - things I can't live without?

You can get green backed with paws - I have some!!

I have GSPs and a fibreglass whelping box that is 120x120 that I got from the hydrobath people. It is only just big enough and I really wouldn't have wanted my litter to be much bigger (Mia had 7). The advantage is that I just take it outside, hose it out, whack in some disinfectant and then give it a towel dry. In my next house (which will be ours) I may look at another set up but this time around this is what was easiest and easiest to keep clean and fresh smellling! We used vet bed with plenty of newspaper underneath and also bought from peperone. We bought two pieces of green back and one of rubber (we thought we'd have some on hand just in case Mia decided to dig or pups decided to dig!) The rubber back took much longer to dry (we had a winter litter and would take at least all day in the sun (in QLD!!)) It was also harder to fold up and put in the washing machine. We haven't had it disintegrate at all but it probably didn't drain as well as the green back. I did like it for in the back of the car after the litter as it doens't slip around on the carpet (not that the green back does much) and when the pups were a bit older and 'moving the furniture it took them a bit longer to move it around. Overall I preferred the green back, quicker to dry and easier to put in the washing machine (we have a font loader) but my girl also wasn't a digger so I didn't have problems with that either.

I'm sending as much puppy dust your way as I can find. I remember waiting for my girl earlier in the year. She had milk for over a week before she whelped, looked basically ready to go for AGES! I gave up on the temps, I figured I was home anyway and not going anywhere so I would know if she was acting differently (and sure enough I did!) The interminable wait is horrendous but just think of all those gorgeous pups coming your way - i'm jealous. I miss mine like crazy (ok perhaps not all the work but the cutness certainly!) I can't wait for my next litter!!! I especially can't wait to see all your photos!!

My bitch Mia has a VERY BIG dislike of wet paws. If it is raining she will not even poke her nose out of her kennel or out from underneath the house just in case she gets wet paws. The ONLY exception is if it is walk time, in that situation all bets are off and she runs out IN THE RAIN, ON THE WET GRASS to the gate ready to go off for her walk. Go figure....I will never understand. She also loves swimming..... Her daughter is a wet freak, LOVES sprinklers, water, wet grass, just being wet! I think there are just some things I will never understand!
-
Nevafollo I see your numbers are somewhat smaller - you must be relieved I had a full week off before Mia had hers, waiting, waiting, hold on a minute is she nesting....oh no, just trying to get upsidedown again! I then only had another 8 full days at home before I had to go back to work :-( Luckily I work shift work and was able to have my OH home before I had to leave most days. Next time i'm aiming for a good 3 weeks off after they are born and a week before hand. As we've only had one litter from her and she went right on time we don't know if she'll do the same next time. This next litter will be her last (she'll be 6) and then after that we'll start breeding with her daughter.
-
oh yes.....I couldn't believe some of the enquiries I got with my litter of pups. You really cannot believe how some people carry on. They really just think it's like walking into a shop and buying an appliance, i'll take that one (if you're lucky you'll get a 'please') they really have no idea what goes into breeding and owning dogs and how concerned we are with the new homes......I used to get so angry!

I want one......puppy and box!
