  1. GSP's!!!! Mind you it's a lot more than the odd zoomie, they are very high maintenance in regards to exercise demands. They are VERY full on - but I still love them!!
  2. Big Bang Theory - LOVE that show. Any pup named Sheldon would have to be pretty 'special' to deserve the name!
  3. Love the colour theme nevafollo - really clever.
  4. I had the bunnings panels as a puppy pen when I had my last litter. For a while they did the job. However....as the little buggers got older and wiser and were led astray by my little rebel they very quickly learnt to climb over it and out!!
  5. I know of a breeder who has a fan on low in the room her pups/mum are in and they are short coats so i'd imagine yours would be OK, I know an un-air-conditioned house can get VERY hot during the middle of the day where I am. I have also heard that you can just put a wet towel down in the whelping box that they can move onto as well? I've only had a winter litter so far (NEVER EVER AGAIN!!) but am looking into what works for myself too because our next litter will be a summer one!
  6. This is my crate. I have GSPs and it fits both my fully grown girl and my 5 month old in it (they like to share sometimes) obviously when they are fully grown they will have to stay in their own ones or it might get a bit squishy! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/42-XL-3-DOOR-Pet-Dog-Crate-Enclosure-Pen-Cage-Kennel-/270739906314?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item3f095b1f0a It is a bit heavy to carry but I still take it to shows and in the back of the car. You might not need a 3rd door (I wanted this for next litter of pups, getting them in the roof is much easier than trying to put one in the door while 3 more escape!!) It collapses really easily, good doors, has a good metal tray in the bottom which can be taken out if needed. I think I had mine delivered for about $93 I just kept an eye out on their site. Delivery was really quick. I paid extra for my cover at the time and it's really good too. It also has a divider so that you can effectively make their 'room' smaller while your pup is little if necessary.
  7. holy crap that ended up being a long post!
  8. I am about to show my pup for the first time. I have previously wanted to show/trial my dogs but have had no idea where to start. It's really very hard to get into as there aren't a lot of people out there to help or to say, sure have a go! I'm very lucky in that the owner of the stud dog I recently used has encouraged me enormously to take the leap and jump on in. She helped me with learning how to stack my dogs properly, what equipment i'd need, what to do, how to groom my dogs etc. Without her help there is NO WAY I would have decided to show. I recently went along to a show as a spectator and had a great time. However I did notice that so many competitors just run off after the winner is announced, hardly any (genuine!) congratulations to the winner. So much competition between breeders/exhibitors - I hate to think what's going to happen when I take my girls out!!! I've been part of the horse competitive world for a long time, I know how it works. I also agree that it is almost impossible to get a dog on main register at times and those breeders who do sell their dogs on main register to 'newbies' are almost frowned upon. How on earth do they think they are going to get new blood and new numbers, or are they not wanted? Why don't breeders encourage their puppy owners to show, to do sports with their dogs? Show them how much fun it can be, offer to take them along to a show with you so they can see that it's not too threatening and can be fun? I think a lot of the blame can be squarely placed at the feet of the greater dog community (and i'm not saying everyone because there are some really great people out there) by making it so hard to get a pedigree dog on main register and then completely shutting out those lucky enough to get one or alternatively ensuring that there is so much red tape that no one could possibly enjoy it. I very clearly remember when I was first looking for my first pedigree dog....main register.....you've got to be kidding..not to mention the absolutely EXORBITANT prices for main register dogs...don't even get me started on the differences in pricing between limited register and main register dogs..... In saying all this, come hell or high water i'm going to get out and do some obedience trials and shows this year and enjoy it as much as possible. I love my girls and I want to take them out and have fun! I am also going to make sure that I keep encouraging my puppy owners to get involved (and i'm very lucky that lots of mine are already embarking on obedience, hunting etc.) and provide whatever guidancce and knowledge I can. Help from another breeder is the only thing that got me involved and I think if we all make a conscious effort to encourage others to get involved, teach them as much as we can and help them find their way we'll find more people get involved. I know i'm only one person who wanted to but didn't know how to get involved but I bet if I didn't know how there will be a LOT of others who don't either!
  9. Awwww sO gorgeous! Love the one where she's 'cuddling' her pup!!!
  10. Well i'm new to this area of the forum but 2012 it is. Like KathQ i'm aiming to keep the handler sound. This will be my first year doing obedience trials and i'm hoping that by the end of the year (if I can find somewhere to go and learn how) to do some agility too. Mia is already level 5 and her work is pretty good so i'm wanting to trial her and keep improving (myself as a handler more than anything!). I haven't worked out what all your letters mean yet!! I've only just gotten my head around the conformation showing side of things. I'll be starting Stella more formally in January and will work with her throughout the year to hopefully end up in level 5 with her so I can trial her too. Really i'd just like to work out what i'm supposed to do to trial the girls and not embarrass us in the process!
  11. Meea can you let us know how yours go? I'm currently looking at getting some cool champions but am wondering about these Hyperkewl ones, some not so good reviews on here so I don't want to buy them if they aren't so good!

  19. I remember that feeling so well nevafollo! Accompanied by the warm fuzzy feeling 'we have puppies' and the OMG we have puppies - are they ok? Are they feeding well? Are they warm/cool enough? Is Mia ok? And the list goes on!! Hope you get some rest and all have a good night.
  20. Well done Kitey - 7 babies. That's what we had too!! (we lost two, one mummified and one very small that never got going) Nice blend of boys and girls as well which is great! Can't wait to see piccies!! How is Kitey recovering?
