  11. Dxenion what wonderful work you do! I spent time last night checking out your FB pages and they are awesome.!! Congrats on your nomination, you seriously deserve it. Anything I can do to bring awareness to your cause please let me know.
  12. I forgot to add Poodles, particularly the Standards . I also love the sighthounds, the greys, whippets, borzoi's are so regal.
  13. I sometimes wonder what kind of training some of these vet nurses who runny puppy classes have. I have also had a negative experience at puppy preschool. My girl had no interest in playing with the other puppies as she was a quiet, gentle girl by nature. In the class was a very exhubarent SBT, a gorgeous Ridgie, a Bull Arab x,a Clumber Spaniel and a GSD. My puppy at the time was a teeny tiny Maltese! I had to be quite firm with the trainer and not allow her to push my little one in the mix . Never went back again. Socialising your dog does not mean allowing a free for all tumble. I carefully chose who she could play with and always supervised. She grew to be a very well balanced, social dog.
  14. Prayers and healing vibes for Abbey xxx
  15. I find this thread so sad:(. Especially in regards to dumping older pets for pathetic reasons like a new puppy! I looove the oldies. I love the panda eyes, that aura that they have been here before. They are over the craziness of puppyhood and they make the most faithful companions. It's probably my favourite time in my dogs life, when you have been through so much together and you know eachother inside out. When you know that your days together no longer feel infinite and you treasure them every day. I wouldn't give that up for anything. Go the oldies!!
  16. That little guy looks like Trouble with a capital T!! Good thing he is cute enough to get away with just about anything:).
  17. Funny you should mention that Winterpaws. My hubby and I just decided to get some quotes for 6ft fencing. We only recently purchased this house and it was on our 'to do list' but it has just moved to top priority. It should solve the problem at hand and as I plan to get another larger dog most likely this year it something we would need to do before this happened anyway. Thank you everyone for your input. Suki is only having supervised outside time until we get this fencing sorted but as she is mainly an inside girl who only goes in the yard to do her business and eat her bones she won't really care. In regards to the children entering our property all I can do is advise the appropriate authorities every time it happens. Unfortunately we have no control over people's behaviour. In her words her son is 'an escape artist' and I think she has put it all in the too hard basket. As far as the little Foxie is concerned he is just the sweetest thing who does not let the little boy out of his sight. Even in their yard I can see him trotting right behind him. He is his little protector, af least someone is looking out for him:(.
  18. I know what you mean! Since joining DOL I have more breeds on my 'wish list' than I could ever possibly hope to own in my lifetime:). Dolers like Gayle with her beautiful Aussies and Mita with her Tibbies have led me to research breeds I never considered before. And don't even get me started on Lappies and Fauves!!!
  19. Suki is crated in my room at night. I am a light sleeper and I would never get any sleep if she were on the bed with me! She loves her crate though, she will often go in there of her own accord when I am not home or for some reason she can't follow me around the house.
