  1. I've been so bad..i just haven't had the motivation to upload any pics to photobucket. I will do a catchup one day.... all these pics are gorgeous
  2. I'm not a huge fan of Hills either, but I was feeding it for a while after my girl developed stones and the vet recommended the swap. I've since swapped back to my preferred food, but for a while I was mixing Hills Oral care in with her normal food, rather than getting the T/D from the vet. From what I've heard from customers who have come in looking for T/D, the Oral care is smaller, but still a decent size.
  3. Yes it is one that tightens when they pull, which is why I was thinking no. I'll just assume it's disallowed and continue training as I have.
  4. Ok I have a question that my contact couldn't answer 100%. I just realized that you can use a harness in the trial, and as I have a Sporn harness, I'm wondering if that's allowable? I couldn't see it excluded specifically in the rules: "The dog must wear a fixed collar or suitable harness. No neck chains, slip collars, spiked collars, muzzles or head control collars shall be permitted." but I don't want to break the rules. Can anyone answer specifically? thanks
  5. Just wanted to share that I have received a copy of the flyer for the Grafton ET from a friend who has done it before and knows the lady running it. So I have all the info now :) Countdown is on now!
  6. Our staffy x (8 years old, desexed) humps Nala (7 months, entire) when Nala and Cleo play their "Dalmatian" games. It's like she gets stimulated by the activity. I just let it happen, Nala doesn't get really annoyed by it, she just keeps playing.
  7. From all the posts on FB that I saw featuring him, I thought he must be awesome. We had a show today, I got minor puppy Dalmatian, but lost out on the Bitch Challenge. I did get to run in for RUBIG though which was a nice treat :)
  8. Thanks Mirawee, what a gorgeous girl she's maturing into! Pointers rule, is Alex related to a Bracco called Bruno by any chance? Nala's breeder was campaigning him in Tassie for a while for HiPoint and no doubt Nala met him as a baby pup. I saw lots of photos of him on FB and I must say the breed intrigues me!
  9. Can anyone give me an idea of when the entries need to be done for the ET? I'll be doing the Grafton one, so still a while to go, but I don't want to miss the entry. Thanks :)
  10. Likewise KC, I think it would be the staffy x that would start trouble here, she already had issues with my parent's male mini schnauzer and tried to act on them. Now our backyard no longer has the worlds biggest caravan sitting in it, we have a lot more dog room. I have a (portable) dog run too, so if separation is needed, I can easily do it. But I too will be looking at houses/properties soon and the number one priority for me is the backyard - it needs to have plenty of space to divide/separate dogs.
  11. We have 3 bitches here, 1 desexed staffy x, 1 desexed Dalmatian and 1 entire Dalmatian who is still a pup. So far, no issues but I am quite aware that issues could arise and am prepared for that. It depends on the breed though (and the personalities involved), I asked other dal breeders and issues aren't very common. I wouldn't add a fourth bitch to the mix though, I just have a gut feeling that that would upset the balance.
  12. my Dalmatians really read the points about "CAPABLE OF GREAT ENDURANCE" "ACTIVE " AND "FAIR AMOUNT OF SPEED" (which is in all caps in the standard) they test themselves several times a day with their zoomies. On the temperament part, they are very easy to get along with and extroverted. And the characteristic grin, Cleo is a smile tart, Nala only shares hers with special people.
  13. Thanks :) took a photo with our ribbon today (we were so buggered yesterday we didn't bother)
  14. An hour for a young pup is way too long, I have a 7 month old and still won't take her out for walks that long. Half an hour is about our longest so far - she gets a lot of free exercise in the backyard. I believe the "rule" is 5 mins per month of age. Training and play in the backyard is more than enough at this young age.
  15. I haven't had 2 done at once, but I have however had the Nobivac for my youngest dog which is effectively an early finisher. My girl had it at 11 weeks and that was it for vaccs, she was fine with it. Socializing wise, I was taking my pup out from 8 weeks *in my arms* to meet humans and also to my parents house which I knew was a parvo free zone, to socialize with their dogs. I also took her to our very quiet beach below the tide line, which in my opinion is one of the safer places to take a pup.
  16. Aw poor Fritzy, but that sounds like something Nala would do. Although today Cleo got totally spooked by a horse over 100m away neighing (loudly and it sounded cranky). I laughed, so much for a carriage dog with a natural affinity for horses. It's good that he was fine with the scooter though!
  17. Haha we posted in the same minute Luvsdogs and I missed your post, WELL DONE!! No, we didn't get points as Nala got reserve bitch behind a puppy bitch (who was runner up BOB) meaning we got 3rd overall in the dallies. But we have 3 more shows in 2 weeks time, and i'm much more confident now that Nala is more confident. Lisa that's a good idea for the fast growing pups! We brought Cleo home in June 2011 and we had such a tiny little coat for her. It's so cute and little! But I only bought it coz it was so cheap!
  18. No points for us today, beaten by a puppy bitch but Nala was AWESOME! I was totally expecting her to spook a little at the male judge wearing a big hat but she didn't :D She also got a minor puppy in group while my other spotty one did very very well in neuter. Now I have a photo frame, vegetable chopper and a set of glasses :) the spots didn't do too bad!!
  19. Haha love the pics! My dogs are spoilt...being in a petstore all the time I've got several coats for the girls. This season Nala is wearing the DGG Zebra "Onesie" while Cleo prefers to wear the 2013 Wagwear "Ralston" in Teal  Esky - we had a spitting image of Fritz in at my work this week - definitely had bull arab in him, more of a mastiff type face but the markings were so similar! Poor boy was a rescue He was a handful, my boss had to hold him for the rescue lady coz he was so strong! Would have been good for your weight pull! (he looked older than Fritz though) And Nala did me proud today, she got a minor puppy in group and didn't even shy away from the judge (my big fear) she also had many admirers - we're going to get big heads!
  20. Poppy or Rosemary for a girl? This is my first go at thinking up names - i'm not very creative.
  21. It spreads all over them anyway, this just speeds it up. I do something similar to what Sheena does, but I just basically draw a line down my dogs' backs. The Advantix people say it's not necessary to do this, but the Frontline people do (I interact with reps). For me, there seems to be so much liquid that I want to spread it out. I live in the same area as Sheena, and I too have heard of the ticks jumping on when the Advantix was one day late (ie. 15 days between applications as opposed to 14). In this area, I can't risk natural remedies, the ticks are just too numerous around here. I won't forget pulling 6 paralysis ticks off a dog in the dead of winter last year, they just don't go away.
  22. Congratulations! I can't wait to be at that point, hopefully only a few years down the track. Totally different species, but I felt similarly when I bred and hand raised birds for the first time - it's a special satisfaction to know that you've created their life, and then to see them achieve so much makes you so proud.
