  1. There is a Big Dog Barf recipe that is designed for use by dogs suffering from Pancreatitis (possibly the Wellbeing flavour), and I have a customer who uses Advance Light wet food, and I think maybe Advance weight control dry as well.
  2. Yes Luvsdogs I will be showing her, mostly around the mid north coast of NSW (I'm near Coffs Hbr) but I will try to venture down to Newcastle and maybe up to QLD to try and get more exposure, shows are not common around here. Introducing......NALA!!!
  3. Update :) It's down to two, the breeder has chosen the two that were my 3rd and 4th picks as her needs are different to my own and left me to pick between my top two picks....YAYAYAYAY by tonight I should have a photo I can share, and then only a week and 2 days to go!
  4. Oh Lhok, this just isn't fair. I would have messaged you sooner but was with my sister all day yesterday and then work. You are such a lovely person, and I hate that such shitty things can happen to such nice people. Are PVC taking care of him now or still Moonee? If it's Adam, or Julia there is no way they'll think you're crazy (nor anyone else for that matter). You're such a caring owner, and I'm sure that's a nice change from all some other people from around here. Thinking of you.
  5. When I lived at the Porpoise Pool, we had willy wagtails (also called Magpie Larks I believe?) collect the emu feathers, they use spider webs as well but emu feathers were much prized materials! (if you haven't seen an emu feather, it's like a big V). At mum and dad's house now I have no doubt that there is black Labrador hair in their nests, but it's probably not there on purpose. I swear that hair grows legs and gets into everything!
  6. Oh Precious is so cute! WSSD are beautiful looking dogs :)
  7. Another Xtrail lover. I bought it because I'd seen it on here actually! I've only got the most basic model though, 2wd ST as we don't off road.
  8. Tonight I got photos of the 4 girls...but instead of being told which one I'm getting she told me to tell her my preferences...by god what a hard decision! I hope we made a good one...I don't want to share pics until I know which one is ours, but if we get our first pick then she is so beautiful. Our second pick is as well, more like Cleo with a darker muzzle and eyes. I was sitting here with my dally book checking stifles, pasterns, toplines. But I really don't care which one of the four we get, they are all stunning girls and I'd be happy with any. At the end of the day, it's a puppy and that makes me SQUEEEEE Is it strange that I've changed my desktop background to one of the pics? lol.
  9. How exciting!! My girl comes home in 2 weeks as well :) I still don't know which girl is mine yet, they were assessed this week though and she was taking photos last night...i'm on FB every hour checking if they're up yet! my husband keeps reminding me that she has a life too lol.
  10. I love it, Cleo as a Dalmatian gets a lot of attention. I hear a lot of people commenting, but rarely am I approached - that said I don't make eye contact and don't particularly invite conversation when I'm out walking - i'm on a mission!! But yes, it's every time we go out in public. Getting a liver dally soon, I expect more questions then! Some people find liver dals an anomaly I've heard.
  11. The weeks are flying by! This sunday will mark 2 weeks to go! I do have photos, but they are via FB (i'm friends with the breeder) so I don't feel comfortable sharing. I may show the individual pic I get this weekend though! Then I will know who I'm getting :) I asked my mum about names, don't know if the breeder would like it but "**** Jaz Afrikan Queen" sounded perfect (I KNEW I needed mum's input!) it totally suits a little girl with the African name Nala :).
  12. I've a question for NSW showers - my new puppy will be coming home from the 25th of November, and breeder has just let me know that she will be microchipped and BAER tested on the 24th (therefore papers will not be ready when puppy comes home, that's cool with me). I was planning for our first show to be the Australia day long weekend, which would give me just under 2 months for paperwork to be processed (and over Xmas time too when offices close!) So the breeder, seeing my plans to show my baby so soon, let me know that her papers will be coming a bit later but told me that in Tassie, they are allowed to show baby puppies with their number put down as "pending", is the same true for NSW? I must say I've never seen it in any NSW show catalogues, but as i'm still fairly "new" with only 7 or so shows under my belt, I thought I would ask. I can just hope that everything comes through on time, and works out, but I don't mind if it doesn't because I can still show Cleo in neuter :)
  13. So exciting to get your puppy a week early! I've just asked my breeder when our girl will be ready, coz her website says early December, but they are actually 8 weeks old on the 25th of this month (2.5 weeks away!) We need to book accommodation in Brisbane for when we go to pick her up. I should hopefully find out which is my girl this weekend, they are being assessed this week and stacked photos on Saturday night...I can just see it now, I will be checking FB constantly...unless of course my sister goes into labour in which case I'll be in a labour ward at the hospital taking my own photos of a very different kind (bit nervous about that!). Murphy's Law has a funny way and I'm sure this is what will happen! Also, I've found our "debut" show for Nala, a big 4 day show in January. This is majorly exciting for several reasons, 1. i can show Cleo and Nala (neuter class is available) 2. it's local to me, only half an hour away, the closest one in years that has neuter 3. there are 3 judges who show/co-own dallies, to show under them will be so exciting! and being 4 days, that's 4 chances for points! Excitement is through the roof! New neice or nephew, new puppy, Xmas, BIG dog show EEEKKK
  14. We have 2 speyed bitches here, Cleo (2yo dal) was desexed at age 1, Izzy (8yo staffy x ) was desexed as a pup in the pound. We are adding a third female to the mix in a months' time, and she will remain entire. I'm keeping in mind that they may have issues, and will be prepared to separate if I need to.
  15. Sending lots of thoughts your way Lhok I hope he picks up soon. Thought we were on to something with the Pro Plan!
  16. Masterpet/Aristopet make one, for dogs, in the bar form. It's a herbal type one, and green in colour. If your work stocks Masterpet, you should be able to order it in :)
  17. This is so bloody frustrating. I work at one of 3 pet shops in my city, one nearby sells pups and kittens. The number of calls we take a week or people in store asking "where are the puppies?" is astounding, like it's the only place to get them or a zoo visit. What I hate even more is the signs this pet store have put up on the enclosures dismissing how they get pups from mills and how breeders are the biggest causes of unwanted pets. Pfft. They have been reported to the RSPCA once already by me for selling pups with KC (they had signs SAYING the pups had KC but were still for sale) We now respond with the line "we support the RSPCA", I'd love to refer them to DOL but most people want those "purebred" oodles and no way in hell will I enable anyone to find them (if somebody wants an actual PB I jump on DOL and show them). My pup i'm getting in 4 weeks will be registered, show potential, flown to my nearest capital city and vacc/chipped and all for the bargain price of $1100. $900 if I went to pick her up but it's a two day drive and a trip on the Spirit of Tas, not good for a pup.
  18. Yes, if my dog were cloned, her clone would most likely look very different, being a Dalmatian. Even within a normal litter the spotting is totally random, as are patches on dallies. Wouldn't ever clone, when a dog dies you remember the good times you had together and move on.
  19. Oh the dally ones are cute....but the price is not cute. They don't know how to spell Dalmatian though. Oh to be a spelling freak and have a breed that is commonly spelt wrong
  20. Cockatiels are my other love besides dogs. I like all birds, but cockatiels always seem the most trusting and sweet little guys (well my babies that I'm handraising are!)
  21. I'm aware that everything except for the red fruit is toxic, Cleo seems to be aware of this also. She doesn't show the slightest interest in the plants until there is ripe fruit, and that's the only stuff she's ever touched.
  22. things are a bit tight at the moment, but we've turned a corner, so I see a lot happening in the next year :)
  23. My girl gets yellow spots on her head this time of year....when my FIL has his tomatoes growing. Now, I know when she's been "tomatoing". We have to protect them this year, between her and the mountain parrot that found us last year, there will be none for the humans! We had tomatoes plants popping up all around the yard because of her, she cracks me up. Washing with a whitening shampoo has gotten rid of the pollen so far.
  24. No, you're not being unreasonable. You're being smart, not all dogs get along add in the fact that they are different sizes and ages it could very well not work.
