  1. I got two metal ones from eBay, both 42", one was $70 all up and the other was $55 all up. Metal tray and two doors, and they fold flat for storage! If you need a smaller one it would be a lot cheaper!!
  2. I was using sarcasm to match your smugness We donate food each time we are in woolies. The bins there are usually very full so its good to see the public supporting them
  3. Wow, love the smugness. I don't watch MY news
  4. Wow, I live in the north-west of Tassie and haven't heard anything.. Nothing in the paper that I've come across.. Where did you find this out??
  5. Yep Never owned one by myself. Never even held a puppy that I can remember!! From the ages from around birth to 9, my family had an outside dog (schipperke) that was always on a dog run thing (my family aren't dog people in any sense of the term!) My partner has had dogs before, he grew up with Rottweilers mainly. I did have lots to do with my next door neighbour's two golden retrievers, as she was unable to walk them (she has a disability, something to do with the bones in her spine, I'm unsure of the name) I used to walk them both nearly every day and help her care for them.
  6. We're renting Will get some more rocks and go about fixing the holes! Thank you! And I know a bored and frustrated dog will try to get out and we will do our best to not make our dog bored and frustrated lol, but just want to fix the yard to make it perfect for him
  7. Thanks everyone! I might head off to town later today (I have the flu so might wait a few days even lol) and have a look around our local hardware stores, and if I can't find anything there I might get a mini wheelie bin lol!! Hopefully it will fit in our laundry cupboard as I suspect our eldest daughter will want to get into it otherwise!! Thank you
  8. Thank you!!! That eases my mind alot!! I'm new to dogs so had no idea lol!! Cheers
  9. OOoohhh thank you both!! Lots of info for me to read Thank you!!
  10. For those interested in the whole fence thing, I made a new topic under the puppy problems about it with pictures!
  11. As I said in the other topic (when to desex big dogs), we occasionally have a dog that gets into our yard by jumping over a part of the fence. Here is a pic. Where our metal fence meets the wooden one, even though there is a good 1.5m drop, the dog (blue heeler X) still jumps in. When we first moved in, there was like a rectangular piece of metal, similar to what is on clothes airers, that they somehow stuck up there. However that mysteriously disappeared and didn't look very appealing, so our guess is the neighbour on that side got rid of it. As the neighbour's driveway area has no fence, the dog runs through there and over the fence. What can we do to stop this? Any ideas? Also, on the other side, again, there used to be something the same as the other fence (clothes airer thingy look alike) up, but again, somehow it has disappeared. Next door seems to have acquired two dogs in the last week (small cross breed thing, and a lab x), and here is a pic of our fence with her. We also need something to put up there, to stop or much likely prevent our dog from jumping into her yard in the future. And lastly, out the back, as the old tenants here had two dogs who used to dig a bit I'm guessing, there is random hole beginnings around the fenceline like this: They must have tried filling them with rocks and old bits of wood. What is a good way to fix these to prevent our pup from finding them and trying to make them bigger? Thank you!!!
  12. I'm new to dogs, but can I just ask, why is it bad to get littermates? And especially sisters? I'm intrigued!!
  13. If a female entire dog got in and she was in season isn't it possible he could get her pregnant? I'm probably completely wrong as this is my first dog and I'm used to cats lol!! I know cats can have kittens very early. Sorry, I must have sounded like a fruit cake!! I just want to do the right thing. The only place where dogs can get in, as it is a split level house with random levels of garden, is where the metal fence levels off near next doors wooden fence, as next doors front isn't fenced, the dog ran in their front, and over between where our fences meet. That makes no sense huh?! I will take a photo in a minute and put it up lol. We are in the process of getting something to hook up there like the other side of the house! So after all that muddle, our pup should be safe around girl dogs until 12 months?
  14. Mini schnauzer? I think they need haircuts though...
  15. We're getting a golden retriever pup soon, a boy one, and our breeder recommends not desexing him until 12 months, as it can play up with their growth and hormones. I was worried for a bit, as we live in an area where nearly every house has an outside only dog, and they tend to try and get in our yard. Only one dog has gotten in since we moved here early May, but I guess until he is desexed, we will have to supervise every outing in the yard with him!!
  16. Look through your old posts? They go back to when you joined. So if you go back about 4 years ago when you said you got it, I'm sure you'd maybe find it?
  17. Awww so cute!! I stress thinking about the myriad of baby socks laying around the house, behind doors, under beds and cots, under the couch etc. I might have to spring clean before the pup gets here!
  18. Damn... No IKEA in Tassie, and no petstock anywhere near where I live
  19. I've always wondered where you get those giant plastic containers with lids that some people store their food in. Does anyone know? What do you keep all your dry food etc. in?
  20. That was sad Hopefully the Uncle Alber's she apparently ordered might have put some weight on him!
  21. You can buy it at any pharmacy Awww, I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry!!
  22. Oh gee... I'm dreading that this will happen with our pup! We have any random number of baby girls socks on the floor at any given time Maybe I should have a spring clean and make sure all socks are up and off the floor soon.. I hope it passes through easily for you!!
